Jeepers, creepers friends! We haven't had an announcement in ages!
This is just a small thing, I promise, even if the announcement is a bit longer.
We have noticed a lot of gaps in the jobs lists, especially within the Ministry, and so we want to encourage everyone that when making adult characters or when your student is graduating, to try and look at those areas that have gaps and could employees.
Also, I will be updating the app to include more detail on your character's job. Some people are just writing "shopkeeper" or "family business" and are not specific so we have no idea where to put you on the list or what to put in your title.
This update will be for original jobs - things that are not HP Canon because we need more information on these.
If you want to work in a shop or own a shop, please check out the Job List because there are a lot of canon shops without employees or owners and you could claim one of those instead of creating your own shop when there might already be a canon shop in existence.
Example: There is a canon tattoo shop in Knockturn Alley called Markus Scarrs Indelible Tattoos - I had Hawthorne take over that shop and rename it for his own business instead of creating a new shop.

Step 1: Idea SubmissionA new product available from the Prince Shipping Company... the C.R.Y.S.T.A.L. !An acronym for Crystalline Receptacle Yielding Spectral Temporal Arcane Link, A C.R.Y.S.T.A.L. is a simple, yet elegant object with a singular purpose: Acting as an alternative anchor location for ghosts.Ghosts are known to gravitate to the location of their death, be they malignant or benign, but ghosts have also been known to be bound to objects. A fair example of this is a Haunted Mirror. It is understood that ghosts only know what they knew back when they were alive, but can have a facsimile of interaction with magical-blooded individuals. While their ability to retain new information is limited, their perspective and knowledge can still be useful! If only they could be transported humanely or locked away without a bulky mirror.In keeping to the magic of binding spirits, a C.R.Y.S.T.A.L. allows a ghost to be bound to a specially-produced crystal that can be mounted in a home, locked away, or carried around in a pocket. The ghost can reside inside the C.R.Y.S.T.A.L. itself or reside outside of the C.R.Y.S.T.A.L. within a 3 meter (9-ish ft.) radius around it. A willing ghost may agree to be bound of their own volition, but an unwilling ghost will require a more forceful binding ritual.The original inventor of the C.R.Y.S.T.A.L. is unknown except to a select few individuals within the Prince family. The inventor's work was funded by the Prince family, sworn to secrecy under an unbreakable vow, and eventually stolen after the inventor's usefulness ran out. They were, of course, disposed of, meaning the Prince family were the one's to file and hold both the patent and the secrets of production.Speaking of production, a C.R.Y.S.T.A.L. is an artificial, precision-grown stone imbued with a complex internal lattice of reflective surfaces and imperfections that are seeded during the growth process via a spell related to binding magic. This process creates a complex and comfortable environment for ghost to inhabit. Given the skill required to produce such an item AND the nature of the family selling them for profit, a C.R.Y.S.T.A.L. is an expensive investment at 750 Galleons a piece! But, each one includes a handy guide to binding a ghost to the C.R.Y.S.T.A.L. printed on high-quality parchment, so it's worth it!

I think that starting this as an already developed, and simply unknown item is a missed opportunity to intricate RP and character development.
What I would love to see is the idea being sparked - perhaps failed attempts in the past of creating the C.R.Y.S.T.A.L. that spark the successful creation of this item.
This would given you and those you wish to involve the opportunity to "discover", "experiment", "invent" and "utilize." It feels like something bigger can be done with this idea that opens up more opportunity to RP - which is the whole point of additional lore.
If you agree to this, then we can go ahead because I just feel you've limited yourself with this already made item and having the information at hand when we can explore it so much more and we'd also need to develop the spell which would bind a ghost to the C.R.Y.S.T.A.L. which is another opportunity to explore.
Step 1: Idea Submission
On the island that became modern day Ireland, one of the oldest forms of enhancing the channeling of magic through spell or ritual was the art of establishing and preserving a Draoi Grove. Those gifted with magical blood could enter this enchanted space to perform greater feats of nature-based magic than could be done without such a nexus. These feats included: profound healings of the body, fertility blessings of the land, temporary imbuement of greater physical attributes, complete purification of diseased crops, or the enchantment of tools to improve their performance. These Draoi Groves were cultivated spaces in nature that took a lot of time and effort to produce, and -being mostly of nature- were often fragile, hence their rarity and eventual extinction.
The first step in establishing a Draoi Grove was finding a space in nature that was remote from civilization, regardless of its developmental status. This space could be anywhere in the land, but it had to be away from unnatural construction of any kind. This included forests, high cliffs, swamps and bogs, lakes, hills, etc. The second step was that a magical blooded person (or persons) had to attune to the space for a considerable period of time. They had to live on that land, meditate upon it's features, defend it, and preserve it while not harming it in any way. Through this process, they would typically perform feats of communion such as expanding or cultivating the domain of that land, earning the respect of a magical beast that lived on that land, or rescuing the land from some external threat. After this, the winds of magic themselves would begin to flow in a noticeably different way for those who underwent the process of attunement, signaling the completion of the Draoi Grove.
A typical Draoi Grove would often feature a number of things related to the continued practice of magic. After the attunement process, carved stones bearing the symbols, runes, and glyphs needed for specific spells to be channeled were often placed with incredible precision to align with the flow of nature in the center of the grove. Basic homes like tents could be brought in and purified without disrupting the space. Gardens were also very common features, as long as the balance of the ecosystem was not violated.
As with most expressions of magic, there did exist a corruption or "Dark Art" variant. In this case, there was something known as a Blood Grove. This variety could only be produced through the full cultivation of a Draoi Grove followed by the ritual sacrifice of an innocent magical-blooded human and a Unicorn at the center of said grove. Through this act, the one who established said grove could corrupt nature in a few ways including raising the dead as twisted servants, infecting the land with blight, plunging the sky into prolonged darkness, and artificially purifying magical blood lineage -all at significant cost to the caster. An instance of a Blood Grove only happened once, but said instance was so bad, it was aggressively resisted, destroyed, and hidden from record. The cult who created it were executed and burned, the land was salted and burned, and the writings of those who made it were gathered and burned. Well... mostly. Some writings survived in hidden stone carvings.
A small group of modern-day dark wizards and witches have found pieces of this ancient ritual and have begun kidnapping magical historians to help complete their goal of forming a Draoi Grove before corrupting it into a Blood Grove after. A case file within the Auror Office has been started to investigate these disappearances and eventually the secrets of this lost corner of magical practice.

Because this sounds like a unique, ancient type of magic, that likely has been lost to modern society, what I'd like to see for threads involving it include the following ideas:
1. If possible, would love to see the group of dark witches/wizards discovery and have kidnappings of historians reported.
2. If the above is not possible then a team of Aurors called in to investigate the death of the innocent sacrificed would be an excellent starting point.
3. Research to determine what the heck this thing is as a secondary point. Could involve traveling to lots of places, talking to old people, libraries!
4. Destruction of this will obviously have to occur because we can't have something so dangerous running but this can be a longer term plot if number 1 occurs since it might be interesting.
5. Discovery of other Groves that can then be protected - hey look, new job opportunities! Or new spell opportunities to develop!
This feels like it's something that can be explored over time until everyone involved has figured out what it is and how to stop it before it becomes part of the lore, and then we can implement it as official lore and even utilize the groves in a better fashion!
Alternatively, you could use this as another mini-sitewide plot idea! Get more people involved.

Hey Everyone!
This Mini Plot is underway with the announcement of the Occamy traveling to Hogwarts.
People at Hogwarts! - Feel free to explore your character's excitement about the Occamy arrival - Phronesis Dunamis and Dakari Suco - as Headmaster and Deputy Head, you guys sort of get the privilege of hosting whatever to welcome the Occamy and/or running the first of the visits with it while establishing the protocols to keep it safe with the Aurors selected to assist. Phase 1 - This involves the current Auror thread as they learn of the poachers and Harry has been assigning members of their team their tasks. Also includes whatever personal threads those involved wish to have while working on this problem IE: Carman and Victoire and the Headmaster or Cullen and Trixie visiting shopkeepers in Hogsmeade, etc. This also involves the arrival of the Occamy at Hogwarts and the excitement it garners from that - there could be a group thread if people want - could include those from the Department of Care of Magical Creatures (I'm lazy and don't wanna write it all out) etc. to bring the Occamy into Hogwarts - have fun with this
Phase 2 - A diversion will be created in Hogsmeade to drive the Aurors and Hit Wizards and whoever else is protecting the Occamy out of the school and into the fray to make the attempt at capturing it. HOWEVER this is where the student group can realize it's unguarded and the accidental escape of the Occamy happens.
Phase 3 - The kids rescuing the Occamy and the Poachers trying to capture it unite and the Poachers capture the Occamy and the kids
Phase 4 - We lead into the rescue mission and whatever else that entails that we have not sorted out entirely yet!
SO, with this all written out, we're inviting members to add 1-2 more characters into the fray in roles that require being filled. We definitely need more in the Poacher group and the group who accidentally set the Occamy free.
We are NOT accepting anymore students in the kidnap/rescue group. We have enough.
Students are NOT going to be involved in Phase 4 with the exception of those who are being rescued.

Do you regularly stalk other people's threads and see the potential for newsworthy articles that might get missed during the news reporting?
Are you interested in putting your stalking skills to work and helping out the administrative team?
We're looking for 3 - 5 reliable writers who can help contribute to putting together the monthly editions of the Daily Prophet, Which Broomstick and Witch Weekly.
These members must understand that this is a commitment and failure to meet the expectations will result in loss of privileges.
Expectations:
Stalk the site in search of news.
Write short news articles about these events, ensuring they are recent and not already reported on.
You are required to submit a minimum of 1 article every month, due on the 25th of each month.
Ensure that you are including a variety of members when submitting articles so that everyone gets a chance to feel included - it feels good to see your character(s) and plot(s) hit the news.
You will have access to the private News Board where members of the News Team can post their articles and discuss what they are reporting on so that there is no overlap.
Each writer will have their own thread for posting articles monthly.
There will also be a group thread for hot topics of the month found around site through our general stalking or plotting and threads.
As always, we will revise as things progress to make this process streamlined and easy for all involved - get rid of what doesn't work and make improvements to make things quick and efficient.
Daily Prophet - this section is typically written by Rita Skeeter and covers regular news such as sitewide events, sitewide plots, storylines that make sense to make daily news like crimes, special features, wedding announcements, advertisements, etc. Anything you might find in a regular newspaper.
Which Broomstick - this section covers all of our Quidditch news both internationally and at Hogwarts. It features special quidditch events, gossips about the Quidditch stars and what's new in the Quidditch world like brooms, equipment, new spells, up and coming potential players, all the stuff you might find in a sports magazine. Currently, we make up a lot of our quidditch news but with some specific writers we could narrow it down to being more specific to what is actually going on, on site with Quidditch.
Witch Weekly - while currently, it focuses on the interviews with our members of the month, it's also our gossip column and reporting on the lifestyles of the rich and famous on site.
