Mei Xing kept an eye on the shirt, making sure to move it around in the water so that it would soak completely. She also just needed to just needed to do something to distract her mind from the situation she was stuck in now, not that she had meant to make things awkward between them. The Hufflepuff prefect was just glad he wasn't treating her any different because of her little mishap. "Of course." The offer stayed out there in case he changed his mind. It would give him a little more cover if he did feel too uncomfortable standing there bare chested. It wasn't like she was watching, but sometimes that wasn't enough for other people.

The Hufflepuff had to be grateful that he had agreed to the idea of small talk. Knowing him, he wasn't used to carrying on small talk, but she couldn't stand to be there in silence while they wait for the shirt to soak long enough to see if the stain would come out. Goodness, what made him think she wanted to talk about the situation they were stuck in? If anything, she would like to do anything to distract herself from the situation. "My costume is something that comes from ancient China. I'm only dressed as a wealthy young lady from ancient times, nothing special. The costume was actually handed down from family member to family member over the years," she said. It wasn't really a costume at all, it was the real outfit, but she had nothing else to wear to the ball last minute. It was also why she brought the concoction to make it didn't get ruined today, but it was being put to good use now anyway. "What about you? What was your costume?"

The Hufflepuff shouldn’t have been surprised when Tae-il stopped to let her enter first, basic move when it came to being a gentleman. Although the empath couldn’t quite consider them as friends, she could at the very least trust that he was a gentleman. ”Thank you,” she said as she walked through the door first. It wasn’t the first time someone had held a door open for her, but as Mei Xing walked into the bathroom, she was getting a little anxious again. The prefect made sure to just keep to herself and let the Gryffindor take his time with undressing. If she was a bit uncomfortable with the situation, she could only imagine how he must feel. Perhaps one day, she could look back on today and see it as a funny incident, but that certainly wasn’t happening today.

Mei Xing reached behind her, trying to feel for the fabric of his shirt so she wouldn’t have to turn around. ”If you get cold, you can always just wrap my cloak around you,” she said as her finger finally found the fabric. The Hufflepuff prefect took the shirt from him and put it in the sink, keeping her eyes on what she was doing as she poured the contents in the vial over the stain. For now, she’d just have to let it soak in the water. Mei Xing didn’t turn around, she just turned the running water off and put the empty vial away. ”Just talk to me, this process might take a while,” she said. Usually she would’ve been facing the person she was talking to, but under the circumstances, she was fine just keeping an eye on the sink.

For a girl that had been rather reserved all her life so far, this was a very awkward step for her to take in trying to help someone. One that made her feel a little uncomfortable, but they were classmates, if not friends. She should just suck it up and push those awkward thoughts out of her head, all she wanted to do was fix his shirt. Still, waiting patiently for his response was making her feel even more flustered by the situation. Could he just answer her quickly so they could get this over with, and she could perhaps call it a night before she could get into any other predicaments?

It was almost like that thought just pushed the answer right out of him, not more than a moment later, he spoke. Mei Xing was honestly surprised that he was willing to let her help him out, thankful that her mask would cover the small tinge of red on her cheeks. The Hufflepuff prefect was sure he was only allowing her to help him because he didn’t want to be embarrassed with his clothes messed up in front of the crowds of the ballroom. That was fine with her. She took a deep breath, this was no big deal. She’d just have to wash his shirt with the concoction and it would all be over. It would be easy as pie, and if it didn’t work, well then this witch’s weird substance was something that the Zheng family hadn’t encountered yet.

”Uh, yes, of course. Follow me,” she said. Usually the empath would’ve taken his hand to make sure they weren’t separated in the crowd, but right now, that alone felt a little awkward. Mei Xing lead them out of the ballroom, not speaking a word as she walks towards the prefect’s bathroom. Was it making the situation worse? Her not saying anything to him the whole way there. No need to dwell on it. She just had one job to do. The Hufflepuff opened the door for him, letting him enter first before closing the door behind her. Okay, deep breaths. It’s just a favor for a classmate because you caused the mess, she thought to herself as she dug into her small purse for the vial with her family’s concoction.

Mei Xing turned her back to him, ”Whenever you’re ready.” She had been raised to be a proper young lady after all, making sure that she wasn’t watching him or anything. The brunette witch just set her belongings down, taking off her cloak anyway so it wouldn’t get wet as she turned on the water.

Mei Xing couldn't help but feel bad for what she'd done to his shirt. She was grateful when he took the napkin from her, but she doubted it would help him clean out the stain. The Hufflepuff nodded politely to acknowledge his thanks, then followed him out of the crowd's way. It was easier to handle her ability now that she was a little further from the numerous people near the dance floor. The empath watched as the Gryffindor prefect tried to use magic to try to get the stain out of his shirt. Instead, the neon green turn neon pink. That wasn't how the spell was supposed to work, but they had said the witch was handing out strange potions. That only made her feel worse for ruining his shirt.

She was hesitant about asking her next question. After all, they weren't that close, but it had been half her fault for ruining his shirt, she would want to try to make it up to him. "Maybe not. Um, I have a special concoction made by my family that clears out most magical stains. I'm not sure if it will will this time, but... it would require you to... take off the shirt," she said awkwardly. Mei Xing was not expecting him to comply with her suggestion, she obviously was not letting him undress in front of everyone here, they could go to the Prefect bathroom or somewhere they wouldn't be found. Her intentions were pure, actually thinking about the situation made her shy away from him slightly. "You can wear my cloak, but we have to be quick," she added.

Mei Xing had no intentions of really being the party girl tonight, it was just showing up as a formality. Usually being at a party wasn’t such a bad thing, but she had been in large groups of people all day. She needed a break. The brunette fixed her mask so that it wouldn’t fall while she walked around the ballroom. Seriously, the Hufflepuff was just planning on getting a drink or something and just standing around the edge of the room tonight. Feeling a little dizzy as she walked around, she came upon a witch handing out drinks and walked closer to grab one. Maybe she was dehydrated?

As she was reaching towards the glass, she felt another person shove her from the side, causing her to bump into someone else as she fell to the ground. Before she could say anything, the Mei Xing heard his voice, already knowing who she’d bumped into. The girl got up from the floor and grabbed a napkin from the nearby witch holding the tray. It probably wouldn’t do anything, but she was trying to help. ”I’m sorry. I didn’t mean to bump into you. Here’s a napkin,” she said. Though technically, it wasn’t her fault that someone had shoved her into him. She didn’t want the other person to get the brunt of his anger, which she could feel radiating through her right now more than any of the other feelings in the room. Perhaps there was a spell she could use to clean it up? If not, they could get out of there and she could give him her cloak so she could wash it for him?
