Hey friends!

The admins have been in discussion about classes after some concerns brought forward and we have an idea to suggest to the masses.

Currently:
Students are expected to make a total of 3 posts in any class of their choice in order to pass the term (the more the make the better grade they get).

Professors are expected to have 2 lessons per year group for the term, and encouraged to post once a month in their active classes to keep things going.

What we have noticed:
Some post the bare minimum to pass and never go back even if someone tries to interact with them.

Some use class posts in order to up their post count for new characters, creature status or to make the 3 post requirement before the clean outs which happen every 3 months (March/June/September/December).

Some professors post their lesson and never touch the thread again so the class dies.

Some professors don’t make their lesson in time and their post becomes vacant and a class will close to the disappointment of students who want to take it.

Wanting professors to be more active in their classes has the negative effect of us potentially losing active professors because they can’t comment.

Effective Immediately:
Removing the expectation that Professors need to be posting monthly in their active classes.

Removing the requirement for the number of lessons posted. Most Professors currently have at least 1 lesson posted for year group they teach already and we will not expect anymore from you.

Potential Changes:
Making classes optional – if the character claiming the Professor position wishes to run a class they can and students can take their class if they choose to.

Passing – in order to pass, student characters will be required to make 6 general posts within Hogwarts or Hogsmeade. 6 was the agreed upon number because there are two clean outs during the term which means everyone is required to have 6 posts in order to protect their character from being unsorted already so it’s no extra work for anyone.

Internships – Seventh years will still be allowed to do internships and those posts will count towards your pass or fail grade as long as you are signed up for the internship. All rules for internships will remain in place without changes.

Grading – will be a Pass or Fail. If you meet the required posts by the end of term, you pass. You can pick whatever grade you want for your character to have achieved if that matters to you.

House Points – Professors who decide they wish to continue running classes, can still offer house points to students who participate and contribute to the class thread.
