Tiberius Blackwood
15 April 18, 2005 student Hogwarts Gryffindor Fifth Pureblood Scotland | PERSONALITY: While Ty probably should have ended up jaded due to his family, he’s quite the opposite. He’s a happy-go-lucky kid that is more concerned about having fun than anything else. He’s a fan of pranks and jokes, and he is particularly fond of stupidly dangerous stunts. He’s the type to want to befriend everyone, and the rather extroverted boy is the type to approach everyone. He’s always willing to do whatever to put a smile on someone’s face, whether it’s with a joke or prank or an offer of the food that he seemingly always seems to have on him. Ty tries to be nice, but sometimes he lacks tact and speaks without thinking (such as accidentally spilling a secret, like person X has a crush on person Y). He’d never actually attempt to upset someone, and he feels extreme guilt whenever he does. Ty can be a bit of a flirt, but he doesn’t really mean to. He just a bit touchy-feely and thinks it’s natural to swing an arm over someone’s shoulders or nudge them playfully. It just sort of comes out naturally, and he is simultaneously oblivious to anyone showing any particular interest in him beyond friendship. This boy can definitely be a little dense. Some people (namely teachers) may consider him to be rather lazy, as he’s not particularly fond of doing homework or paying attention in most classes. However, that’s not entirely true, as he prefers to just put all of his effort into things he enjoys, such as creative pursuits and raising plants and animals. ASPIRATION: Ty has always been a little bit of a lost boy. There are expectations, sure, but he has no super firm ideas about what he actually wants. He’s supposed to marry a nice pureblood girl, take over the family business (which involves importing some questionably legal goods in addition to the ingredients produced by the farms), and carry on the family line. He knows he’s not particularly interested in following their plan, and he’ll probably end up being removed from the family tree and living his life in what they consider disgrace. Currently, Ty just wants to make sure that he doesn’t get kicked out of school. Getting good enough O.W.L.s to keep going on it at least Herbology and COMC is necessary; any other passing marks would just be icing on the cake. He plans on graduating, and solid N.E.W.T.s in those subjects would be nice. He wants a normal teenage life with normal friends, along with flirting and dating as it comes about. During school, and maybe later on, he wants to be in a band, at least for a little while, though it doesn’t have to be anything particularly big; a group with his friends would suffice. Further in the future, Ty wants to live his life and have fun. It’d be cool if he were able to get an apprenticeship of some sort in either Herbology or Magizoology, though parts of him also think trying to make the band thing work or becoming a tattoo artist are better uses of his time. A large group of good, forever friends is one of his highest priorities. He wants a relationship, but gender or blood status is nowhere near as important to him as it is his family, as he just wants a best friend type person in that role. He wants to do something that allows him to have time to keep doing art, some of which will inevitably be tattooed onto him. If he has to be involved in the family business, he wouldn’t mind running the farm, caring for the plants and animals, but he has no plans to be involved with the deal-making and other logistics. | LIKES: - Plants - Animals - Music - Arts - Spray paint - Bright, neon colors - Pranks - Sweets - Being outside - Tattoos - Dangerously stupid stunts DISLIKES: - Studying - Quiet - Sitting still - Being stuck indoors - Detention - Liars - Bullies and other people that think they’re better than others |
FAMILY MEMBERS. | - Demetri Blackwood, father (43), pureblood, Slytherin graduate, owner, Blackwood Farms - Anastasia Blackwood (nee Volkova) (39), mother, pureblood, Durmstrang graduate, socialite - Georgiana Blackwood, sister (17), Slytherin - Augustus Blackwood, brother (14), Slytherin - Isolde Blackwood, sister (12), Slytherin |
CHILDHOOD. | Despite being the second-born, Tiberius is the first boy and, thus, the heir to the Blackwood family. To say the family was well off would be putting things lightly, and he was raised with everything he could ever want at his disposal. There were certain expectations thrust upon him in traditional pureblood fashion. He was supposed to be “proper,” which Ty has always interpreted as being a snobbisth tool. Naturally, he rebelled against that hard, making him the black sheep of the family. Childhood for Ty was rough when he was with his family. His parents had expectations that he could never live up to, and they never failed to let him know that. His oldest sister loathed him because she was not the proper heir, even if he was always on her side because the inherent patriarchy and misogyny always seemed stupid before he even knew the words to describe it. His younger brother was constantly trying to get him into trouble, trying to get him blasted from the family tree as soon as he realized he would get it all if Ty wasn’t considered part of the family anymore, which was at least a year before he left for Hogwarts. He was expected to befriend all of the other annoying pureblooded children around his age, and he got punished severely when he mocked them instead of pretending to be one of them. The children he found himself gravitating towards (on the rare events he got to meet them) were usually of “lesser” bloods. As soon as he was able to (which his family deemed was around age six or seven), Ty spent most of his time away from his family in the sprawling mansion and grounds in the Scottish highlands, instead being raised by staff at the family’s massive, industrial-sized farm in central Europe where muggle-repelling charms allowed the structures to be built with atmospheric charms allowing plants and animals from all biomes to thrive. There was a reason that his family was one of the best, if not the best, at sourcing potion ingredients, along with wand woods and cores. He preferred the animals to his family, and who wouldn’t enjoy the opportunity to muck around and get dirty? He was also particularly fond of flying on the winged horses and started training to become quite the racer well before his eleventh birthday. Unless there was an event of some sort that he was summoned for, his parents didn’t particularly care that he wasn’t even in the same country so long as he wasn’t embarrassing himself. Some time before Hogwarts, Ty was introduced to his third and fourth loves (plants and animals being the first two): music (with him starting to learn how to play guitar and drums) and spray paint, the latter of which, over time, turned into an appreciation for art in general. |
SCHOOL YEARS. | Ty was ready for Hogwarts when the time finally came around. He was fully expecting to fit in and make friends, and he liked to think he was successful in that endeavor. That is, of course, after he overcame the “shame” of being sorted into Gryffindor. His parents were, naturally, unhappy, as everyone in the Great Hall heard when the taunting Howler came a few days after the sorting. He blamed his sister for that, as she was the only one who would have told them, and she had been looking awfully smug after it happened. Being at Hogwarts was nice. Being in different years and houses, it was even easier to avoid Georgiana here than it was when he was spending most of his time in a different country than her (as there had been sporadic visits when his parents had to attend to farm-related business), and there was no way for his parents or younger siblings to bother him beyond mail, at least in that first year. Classes went…well, nobody was ever going to accuse Ty of being a magical savant. He did great in Herbology and fairly good in flying in that first year. Astronomy also did alright, so long as he was able to stay awake during those late classes. But everything that involved wand waving? Yeah, he never did so great at that, and even now he struggles to perform spells learned a year or two earlier. Some of the children that his siblings associated with even joked about the probability of him being a squib even though he clearly isn't. He struggled to stay awake in History of Magic, and following directions made Potions super difficult. Ty also has a little detention problem that dates back to that first year. Not because he is some horrible child but because he likes to have fun, which usually translates into talking (or eating) in class and finding better things to do than do his homework. To be honest, he barely passed some of his classes over the past four years, but he scraped by enough. In third year, he finally had the chance to add classes that address what he loves: COMC and Arts. Divination seemed easy, so he added that one as well. He can’t wait until the end of the year, not because he is looking forward to his O.W.L.s but because it means he can finally drop some of the classes that he finds most difficult. |

RP SAMPLE (200 words min.)
Ty sighed as he approached Blackwood manor. He didn’t mind Scotland in the slightest, but he would much rather be practically anywhere else. The manor was cold and harsh, more of a show of wealth than anything that actually looked lived in. He’d much rather spend the holiday at the farm, if for no other reason than it meant avoiding his family. He didn’t know which of his parents was going to be worse today. His mother was, as always, likely to complain about the length of his hair and the fact that he wasn’t bringing home a nice pureblood girlfriend while his father just always seemed angry at his existence.
One of the house elves met him at the door, waiving off his thanks as she took his things and told him his parents were waiting for him. He ran a hand through his hair, tugging at the ends, before steeling himself. He had learned a long time ago that he couldn’t show weakness around his family; it always made things so much worse. He put on an aloof mask, not too concerned but not too casual, as he strolled into the dining hall.
“You summoned?” he questioned as he meandered around, playing it cool and glancing at the food options always available and grabbing an apple. He wiped it off on his shirt before chomping into it with a loud crunch. The pinched look on his mother’s face and the anger visible on his father’s had him racking his brain for what he might have managed to do to catch their ire. To have one of the household staff apparate to the farm, grab him, and bring him home instantly via side-along apparation had to mean something big. He fought the urge to fidget as he set his apple down on a plate and plopped down into a chair on the opposite end of the long table. “I can’t imagine why you want me here today,” he said in a conversational tone, fishing for information.
