Cade had just turned his back to the maze. When he heard someone shout. He frowned and looked around. He could hear other people inside laughing but this particular voice sounded like they were having a lot let fun. What the hell did that matter to him? He started towards the refreshments stand when he heard the same voice call again.

With an irritated sigh he turned back around. It sounded like a girl and if something like this had happened to his sisters he'd want someone to find them."Hey! Look can you hear me?" He shouted as he stepped into the maze. "I'm near the entrance if you shout I can follow your voice." As he walked he listened. All he could hear were shrieks in the distant. He was almost sure he heard someone say snake or had they said fake? "Hey! Chick who was just shouting for help are you still out here? My chivalry is starting to wane."

He was absolutely going to make it wierd. There was nothing more entertaining to Cade the bothering Boonie. This opened up a whole new set of opportunities. Once her fingers were laced with his he gave her a tug so that she was a little closer.

"No. I'm still expecting you to be your normal pain in the ass self, but hey if you wanna turn over a new leaf I'll support it." He teased and then sobered. Her question hit a little closer to home. He knew what she'd meant and he definitely hadn't helped her ego with his rude comments earlier. "No, but for real. You're good. I'm not planning on throwing you over my shoulder and finding the nearest broom closet. You drive. " He raised a brow as the faintest smile tugged at the corner of his mouth. She looked like she had more questions."What else? You look like you have more questions and if I'm honest I haven't slept in two weeks so I'm running out of words." He gave her another tug and started back tracking his way. He'd never been lost in the maze. He'd been looking for his friends."Room of requirements or field where they're playing scary movies?"He was definitely beat but he also wasn't letting go of her just yet.

Bonnie Thomas

Cade nodded and closed his eyes for a brief second, as he gave her time to catch up. He needed a second to catch up too. Fear, relief and of excitement all whirled in his gut. He opened on eye to see her pointing back and forth between them. "Yes. " He took a step forward and then another. He could see the gears in Bonnie's head turning, working out what he'd said. Maybe weighing what that really meant. Cade let out a breath and gave her a once over from head toe. Well that was dangerous. It was like seeing Bonnie for the first time without all the rules and guardrails he'd put up. "No, I'm not messing with you " he said tiredly.


"And stop making that face. You look like you're trying to work out a math problem." He reached up and pinched her nose. Her face was fluctuating between suspicion and surprise. Which he totally understood. He'd gone in with the intention of saying no, but he wanted to be selfish. "You don't owe me anything. Nothing crazy has to change right away. Just...You know? Let me do this right." He raised a brow."Let me be nice to you, okay? I've been a jerk for like a month now. I can do better than that. Let me at least earn this." With a patience look that was reserved for only her, Cade offered his hand and waited.

Bonnie Thomas

Bonnie's hand in the air was the only thing holding Cade back from interrupting and asking more questions. So she had been giving him an out? What he thought he'd seen at the ball wasn't a fluke. He watched her for a moment. She was his best friend. The only person at school who saw his best and worst moments.

For the first time in Cade's life fear crept up into his chest. It was almost the same feeling he had felt at the lake. He couldn't tell if he was being selfish or responsible. If he let her go he was going to have to let her go completely.

"Look Bonnie...I think you deserve those things but I don't know if I know how to give you all of that. I mean it sounds nice but " Cade drew in a breath He was sixteen. And he was jerk. He'd been a jerk to her twenty secomds away. What did he really know about caring for someone like that? "Look Bonnie...I think you deserve those things but I don't know if I know how to give you all of that. I mean it sounds nice but " He screwed up his fave. It was the face he always gave her when he thought something was a terrible idea. He looked up at the sky and chose his words careful. "But I don't think we can go back to before things got different. So can we just try this? No pressure. You know see if it even makes sense." He looked down at her. "But you gotta tell me what's going on in your head and no making decisions for both of us because of what you think is going on in mine. Okay?"


Bonnie Thomas

Cade wrinkled his face as she spoke. It was a little immature of him but he was a little lost.Hed only called out random girls names because he hadn't gotten a reaction out of her for two weeks. Just silence. Cade ran and hand through his hair. "Normal people suggest lunch, Bonnie. Maybe a movie or a different sweater. " Not breaking up? That wasn't something people suggested.

"I really don't." he met her gaze. "At first I thought you were just embarrassed and needed a few days. The bridge was confusing. I get that." he dragged hand over his face. Cade was fully sure he was ready to unpack with with Bonnie again. The last time had gone from weird to awful.

"But then I didn't see you for day and when I did catch a glimpse I was convinced you were literally taking the long ways around the castle to avoid me." he hated having this conversation. The reason why he had Bonnie had originally gotten along was beuces it was easy. They didn't have not real fight. "Twice now I've thought you wanted me to want you, then you said never mind." he started walking. The last thing he wanted to do was have this conversation in a place where he could end up trapped with her. "But you also don't want me to want anyone else." he turned around tired and frustrated. The potion that had been fun fifteen minutes ago now had him feeling sick.

"We're friends. I'm trying not to screw this up. I don't lie to you. I meant what I said in the alcove. He laughed and started walking again. "Say I did make a move, Bonnie? What do we do after that? What if it doesn't play out like how you have it dreamed up in your head? What pretend it didn't happen. Go back to this?" Cade had never said so many words at one time, but he couldn't keep dancing around things.

One second Cade was laughing making a fool of himself and the next Bonnie had him by the arm. Her face fill his view. He tried to shake her off. He was being crappy. Instead of meeting her gaze he looked passed her. If he looked hard enough he could see glimpse of the corn maze through her hair. Her shiny, stupid, wavy blonde hair. It looked so soft.

"What's the point of a truce if you're already not looking at me, already not talking to me. " He looked down at the grasp she had on him. His voice was softer now like he was pointing out the weather or stats of the most recent quidditch match. He smiled a little as he brushed the liquid off his sweater with his free hand. The cider was already drying but the shimmer potion only stained his hands. He frowned. "You're not even around enough to fight with. He gaze finally met hers. She looked like she wanted to cry, which wasn't what he'd expected to see at all.

"Kinda seems like you already decided this truce for both of us, Bonnie." he reached out and fans the hair on her shoulder so that it laid better. With a bit of a hum, he nodded and took a small step back. He didn't fully understand why she was mad at him but it was safe to guess she didn't want him touching her."I don't even fully know why you're avoiding me."
