26 MAY 14, 1998 HEALING PROFESSOR, HOGWARTS SLYTHERIN GRADUATE MUGGLEBORN HOGWARTS/HOGSMEADE
| PERSONALITY: If she was told to pick two personality traits to describe herself, one good, one bad, Tabitha would choose Stubborn as good and Resilient as bad. Seems an odd choice, but she has her reasons.
It's good that she's stubborn. Through all of the prejudice, the hatred, the loss, she has been stubborn. Stubborn in her beliefs that everyone is to be treated equally deserving of respect until they prove otherwise. Stubborn in the belief that her birth parents were wrong to abandon her, and that she would and will never do such a thing to any child she births. And stubborn in her insistence that her past absolutely does not define her worth. What tragedies have happened to her are not her fault, nor are they indicative of the future trajectory of her life.
It's bad that she's resilient. She shouldn't have to be. It should not be easy for her to be left out in the cold by friends, by family. And yet, it is. She's been let down by damn near everyone she ever gotten close to, and yet... it doesn't hurt. She doesn't cry over it. She feels... Nothing. And therein lies the problem; if it's so easy to shut off her feelings, are the ones she does feel even genuine? Or is she an emotional void, simply going through the motions because that's what she learned to do growing up?
Tabitha is so very caught up in her own worries and self doubts about her feelings that it has been difficult for her to find close friends. Every time she begins to feel as if she can trust someone, she self-sabotages and ruins the relationship so she can further prove to herself that she is indeed the horrible sociopath she is beginning to believe she is.
ASPIRATION: She just wants to be made to feel something. Even if that something is hate or anger. Something genuine is better than nothing at all. | LIKES: - Gardening - Reading by the fireplace - Sarcasm - Getting dressed up - Long naps
DISLIKES: - Prejudice - Spiders - Sprinkling Rain (either commit and drench the world in 2 seconds flat or just go away) - Her Parents - Feeling Useless |
FAMILY MEMBERS. | Francis Tobianski - 57, Muggle (Father) Helen Tobianski - 52, Muggle (Mother)
For all she knows, she could have a sibling or two out there. But if they exist, they must be muggles because she's not heard a single peep. |
CHILDHOOD. | Tabitha was born into a world without magic. Her parents were muggles, and until just around the time she was turning eleven, she believed she was one, too. Her magic took a long time to manifest in a way that was noticeable, though looking back retrospectively there were always signs. That's the way with muggles, though; there's always a reasonable explanation for the phenomena of the world.
Until there wasn't.
To say Tabitha's parents didn't take the news of her magical abilities well is a major understatement. Though not religious by any means, the Tobianskis were wholly unable to reconcile the existence of magic with the view of the world they already had in their minds. When the owl came bearing young Tabitha's Hogwarts Acceptance Letter, followed shortly by a visit from an employee of the Ministry of Magic to further explain, her parents simply... detached.
Nothing will ever scrub away the memory of that day from her mind. She remembers watching the horror on her parents' faces as the Ministry employee explained what was going on, then the disgust, followed by the blankness. If she closes her eyes, she can still hear her mother's robotic voice asking if there was an orphanage in the wizarding world where Tabitha could stay until adulthood. She can hear the reply, then her father asking if there was a way to forget everything. By everything, they meant her, too.
When Tabitha left for the Hogwarts Express that fall, she never returned home again.

SCHOOL YEARS. | Tabitha knew nothing of the wizarding world except that it existed when she entered the halls of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry for the first time. She was sorted, rather quickly she was told, into Slytherin house. A house shrouded in green, her favorite color, she thought this was a good thing. That optimism quickly fell by the wayside when she realized she was in a space filled with young witches and wizards who saw her muggle lineage as a stain on their world.
Still, Tabitha persisted. She was going to make something of herself, dammit, and show all of those prejudiced people that she was more than worthy of being a part of the magical community. Despite a severe lack of friends, the young witch excelled. She passed all of her classes, year after year, with at least Exceeds Expectations.
In the summer, she'd go to a girls' group home in London, a muggle-run small home for the homeless. Even there, she found adversity. After all, what kind of homeless girl gets to go to a private boarding school every year?
By the time she was finishing her seventh year at Hogwarts, Tabitha had managed to secure herself a small gaggle of friends. Two were closer to her than the rest, a boy from her own house, Slytherin, and a girl from Hufflepuff. The three were thick as thieves, for a time. But then he confessed feelings for Tabitha that were unrequited, and the other girl in the group grew very quickly jealous and the trio fell apart.
And thus, Tabitha ended her time as a student at Hogwarts in very much the same way as she began it: alone. |
ADULTHOOD. | CW: Allusion to SA Tabitha's ascent into adulthood was very lackluster. Having spent her summers since the age of fourteen working, the young woman had managed to save up just enough money to rent a small flat above one of the shops in Hogsmeade, with the condition that she work any shifts the shopkeeper cannot find coverage for. So, for several years while she made attempt to save money to get a better home location, Tabitha worked as an alternate shopkeep for Madam Puddifoot's. It is in working with herbs and teas that the young woman found a love for healing, both via magical and holistic means. At twenty-four, she applied on a whim for a position as a teaching assistant at Hogwarts. And much to her surprise- and delight- she got in. And so began a new chapter in her life.
With that new chapter came another welcome surprise; reconnection. As it turns out, while Tabitha was moving into Hogwarts, someone familiar was moving out. Her Slytherin friend from school, the one who had once confessed his feelings for her, was moving on with his own career, having spent some time of his own as an assistant professor. The two began to reconnect, and for the first time in a very long time, Tabitha found herself to be developing genuine feelings for someone else.
But her friend was no longer interested in her. Not in the way she would have liked, at least. And she was okay with this. Perhaps she shouldn't have been. It would have saved her a lot of trouble. Two years after reconnecting with a man she considered a friend, he violated her trust in the most disgusting of ways. A true snake in the grass, he waited until she was alone, vulnerable, and unsuspecting. And took something from her that she can never get back.
Still reeling from such a betrayal, Tabitha ended the school year with an offer to move up from assistant to full professor. She took the opportunity. It took her no longer than a week to move past her ill-fated reconnection with her supposed 'friend'. Though, with the bouts of illness she's been experiencing as of late, she's beginning to wonder if the universe isn't done messing with her yet. |

RP SAMPLE (200 words min.)
They don't notice her until she's standing just off Theo's shoulder, a tentative smile poised on her lips. Upon her approach, the brunette boy- whose name she knows as Sebastian only due to Cordelia's past pursuit of him- swings his brown-eyed gaze from his friend's face to hers. She watches as he pauses, glances at Theo, then draws his lips up in a dazzling grin.
"Hello," He chirps, as if he and Ellora are old pals. Ellora smiles appreciatively, then turns her gaze to Theo.
"Would you mind terribly if I sat with you?" She asks, suddenly feeling nervous where she had not before. She absently fiddles with the engagement ring on her left hand, spinning it around the digit as she awaits his response. If Theo feels the same nerves, he does not let them show.
"Not terribly, no," Theo says easily. Ellora tilts her head to the side as confusion washes over her. It's quickly overcome by her previous annoyance.
"There's no need to be cryptic, Nott," She begins tartly, crossing her arms, "If you do not wish for my pres-"
"Sit down, Ellora," Theo interrupts, scooting over so she has space to do as he says.
Ellora purses her lips but holds her tongue for now. Irritation sparks through her like thin lightning bolts, making her skin itch. She ignores the temptation to scratch and sits down on the bench beside Theo, allowing only a quiet huff to apprise him of her feelings toward him at the present. If anything, this seems to make him smile even more openly, gaze trained on the boy across the table from him.
After a moment's pause, where nobody utters a single word, Ellora leans toward her fiancé and mutters, "Aren't you going to introduce me to your friends?"
