Even if Albus had thought to do proper research on parseltongues, he would not have done it. The trouble with sitting there and trying to focus on reading gave him headaches and unless he’s in the privacy of his dorm, he doesn’t like to do homework or any research where people can see him struggle. His dormmates know. It’s not something he could have hidden from them what with living together, dorming together and sharing classes.
Since he had just decided in the moment to try this, and hope it works, Albus had not thought of researching. He’s a bit of a dense jock sometimes. Fortunately, whatever he is hissing at Ethan is met with a response that is less intimidating than the giant snake coming at the two...erm, three of them. Where had Gawain come from? He’s distracting enough that Albus stops hissing and stares at the older boy for a moment. What is HE doing?
There’s a brief moment where Albus has this look of “what the heck?” on his face before he remembers there’s a giant Ethan-snake in front of them he’s supposed to be dealing with and thus he returns his attention to the snake and begins hissing at it again. He has no idea what Ethan is doing. This isn’t part of the plan, after all. Albus had just guessed when he began to hiss. Now the snake is...dancing? Dying? Elspeth seems to think it died and Albus stares.
“I-I didn’t...” He doesn’t know what he actually said, if anything, or if Ethan could even understand it. “Try...what’s the counter to stupefy?”
