GENESIS VARELA
THIRTY AUGUST 17TH 1990 WANDMAKER SLYTHERIN ALUMNI HALFBLOOD LONDON, ENGLAND | PERSONALITY: Genesis is an extraverted individual who has a neutral alignment, and has made wand making her entire personality, in a way. She constantly thinks of new concepts for wands, and so long nobody gets in the way of her research, she is calm, caring and a kind individual. Genesis was put into Slytherin for her ambition and it showed throughout her tenure at Hogwarts, she was always trying to be the best in her year, and flourished in subjects like Herbology and Astronomy. She does however, have a side that few had crossed. She can be impossibly fiery with a temper that lands her making impulsive decisions, and because of it, she has been her own greatest adversary because she knows her anger isn't always properly placed. At the end of the day, her biggest strive is doing what is best for the field of wand making. And knowing how wands can be fickle things with personalities of their own, she will always protect the integrity of the field. ASPIRATION: Genesis is an independent wand maker who self-taught herself the art of wand making. It was largely through trial and error, with a lot of error behind her self imposed research. It is her goal to make herself into a largely well known wand maker, who will do business with either side of the coin. After all, everyone deserves their right to a wand. How she will skate around Magical Law Enforcement is yet to be determined, but it is something that her ambition will bounce off of greatly. | LIKES: - Wand making - Herbology, Astronomy - Outdoors, wand tree hunting - Research studies - The concept of "the greater good" DISLIKES: - Cooking, baking, anything domestic really - Unsanitary stations/people - Drama - Portkeys (would rather apparition) - Mushrooms |
FAMILY MEMBERS. | Ivanna Varela (née Moruga) | Biological Mother | Muggle Banker | 55 Matías Varela (born Noboa) | Biological Father | Retired Hitwizard | 57 Luciano Varela | Brother | Freeloader | 32 |
CHILDHOOD. | Matías Noboa was born into what was once considered the Spanish Black Market, located in Mexico, as their intended heir. When he fell in love with muggle born Ivanna Morgua, her purity convinced him that they should have a better life. This led him to taking her to the United Kingdom, and making their own family. This breed the start of the Varela lineage, starting with Luciano and then Genesis. Her childhood was filled with happy, healthy, family memories. Their family did everything that they could to normalize their situation and give Luciano and herself everything she could ever want. When both children showed early displays of magic, her parents were thrilled, although her mother showed some hesitance with a lack of understanding of what having two magical children means. Luciano was placed into Hogwarts before Genesis, with their two year difference. He was placed into Slytherin, and came home with wild stories about his adventures at Hogwarts, making Genesis eager to begin her own magical journey. However, when it was just her at home with her parents she started to pick up on the fact that their mother was becoming distant, and unsure of her own children. This was quickly washed away from memory when Genesis received her own Hogwarts letter. Min. 200 words. Max. 500 words. |
SCHOOL YEARS. | Genesis had a lot of expectation for Hogwarts, being the younger sibling of an attending student. However, when she got there, as much as the castle was filled with wonder and hidden mysteries at every corner, Genesis disliked being lost. She found herself leaning on Luciano a little too much to the point where he started to lack patience for his little sister. He shouted at her in the courtyard in front of many of their peers, causing a great upset between the two siblings. It strained their relationship the majority of their Hogwarts years. In her disarray, Genesis fled to somewhere she shouldn't: The Forbidden Forest. She found herself more at peace with the forest than the castle, finding it to be a bit more predictable than the castle ever was. Genesis frequented the haunted place more often than the halls of Hogwarts, and spoke with the Centaurs about the many mysteries that came with the moon, flourishing her love for the subject of Astronomy. There came a time when this had to be cut short, for the forest was called Forbidden for a reason and Genesis had faced a years worth of detention in her second year for her adventures broke countless school rules. It was then that Genesis made real friends and attempted to connect with other students. Many forgot the strife that was her and her brother's loud argument in the courtyard. But she still refused to reconcile with him, despite their parents best efforts. Genesis longed for the day she could enter the Forbidden Forest once more, but the staff knew she had wandered in there and didn't even entertain her purposeful detention habits to try to land herself in there. Eventually, she found focus in her studies. Min. 200 words. Max. 500 words. |
ADULTHOOD. | Upon graduation from Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, Genesis moved away from home almost immediately. She found solitude in the Leaky Cauldron and stayed in a room there for as long as she could afford to, and even started to pay the business back by working as a bartender for free. There was parts of her that couldn't stop thinking about the Forbidden Forest, in fact, she started to obsess over it. She saved up for a trip to Hogsmeade for about a year of bartending work, and freelance jobs, and found herself in the Outskirts once more. It was there that she realized her love for collecting wand wood and spent weeks out there in isolation and relying on her survival skills to collect as much as she could. She sold the majority of the wand wood to the first shop she could inhabit, and then kept some for herself. This was when her wand making experimentation begun, Genesis landed back in the Leaky Cauldron, and from her room she started to hand craft wands with what she could easily get her hands on. This started with cheap products that were sold in Diagon Alley, and then she found herself planting many cores on her own. Her Leaky Cauldron room was soon overrun with this project of hers, and the frequent fires she was making in the establishment quickly got her evicted. With use of her survival skills, she built her own cabin and research station in a forest in London. With the use of disillusionment charms she managed to evade all muggle law enforcement, and started to make her own studies. Genesis has yet to reconcile with any of her family members to this day. RP SAMPLE (200 words min.)
The corner of Everly's lips twitched, though not quite into that of a smile. She watched, studied her cousin Elspeth as she floundered. That trade bluntness of hers never faltering. She didn't bother with the pleasantries of trying to soothe her discomfort. That was never like her. Instead, Everly kept her gaze fixed on Elspeth, arms crossed and her eyes sharp on her, as if she was analyzing every word and body language.
"I'm not kidding, but I hope for your sake that they've gone away with it all. Dark wizards, pure-blood alliances - what's the difference? It's all the same game at the end of the day." Everly responded dryly, her voice low and direct. She let out a small scoff at the mention of their grandmother, but it lacked any sort of entertainment to humor, "Conniving is one word for it, but I like saying it's predictable."
She didn't need to cut into Elspeth's spiraling thoughts with words; her cousin was doing it on her own. The brief moment of a smile when Elspeth tried to lighten the mood appeared on Everly, it didn't go unnoticed, but it was fleeting. And then she had to mention wedding dress shopping. Of course she had a remark for that, and she smirked when saying it, "Right. Because nothing screams "happily ever after" like being forced to marry someone you didn't choose for yourself." Her tone was dripped with sarcasm, eyes glinting with that dry wit that Everly was known for.
And then Elspeth's desperation started to bleed through -- her attempts to rationalize the arrangement, to make herself believe it was a "good thing" -- Everly's expression dropped and hardened once more. She didn't offer any reassurance, instead, she leaned forward, her cutting through the tension like a knife, "Elspeth, stop," Everly said, her words blunt. She wasn't trying to tear Elspeth down, just shake her awake. "A wedding dress isn't going to fix everything. You don't have to pretend like this is the best thing ever just because you're told it is. You don't have to settle."
Everly didn't even entertain Elspeth trying to shift the focus on her own love life. She didn't have time for messes like love, not when there is bigger things to focus on. There was no need for false pretense with her, she never really believed in false optimism. Not for herself, and certainly not for Elspeth.
