SUNG-JIN HWANG
TWENTY 05 NOVEMBER 1999 YEAR 3 OBLIVIATOR TRAINEE SLYTHERIN GRADUATE PUREBLOOD SOUTH JEOLLA PROVINCE, KOREA | PERSONALITY: Sung-jin is a person whose quiet confidence speak volumes. It's not the type of confidence that boasts or needs to prove itself; it stems more from a deep-rooted belief in his abilities, shaped by years of dedication. He doesn't try to seek validation from other people because his self-assurance is built on a solid foundation of hard earned successes. He approaches life with a no-nonsense attitude, generally cutting through others pretenses with a direstness that people might believe is blunt. Honesty is a principle for him; he believes in clear and open communication. There's no room for games, manipulation, or hidden motives in his life; just be straightforward and get to the point immediately. Sung-jin holds high standards in every aspect of his life, holding himself accountable for delivering nothing less than excellence. He has sharp analytical skills and meticulous attention to detail, which help him solve problems and continue to make sure his execution is done with precision and care. He tried to surround himself with people he can trust. Generally, Sung0jin has a calculated nature that has been crafted as a survival trait to make it in the environment he grew up in. He's cautious when it comes to forming relationships, always observing and assessing the other person to see if they prove themselves worthy of his attention. Once his trust is gained, it's almost unshakeable, it would take something drastic for him to stop trusting the person. Even then, he remains ground, trying to prevent his emotions from clouding his judgement or decisions. Underneath everything, Sung-jin has a hidden sense of humor that few get to see. He doesn't lack a playful side, he just knows when it's the right time for it to show. For Sung-jin, humor is a sign of trust and comfort, which is something he would only share among the people in his inner circle. Gaining his trust isn't easy, but for those who do, they will have a loyal friend with a sharp wit and a lightheartedness that's more meaningful because it's rarity. ASPIRATION: Sung-jin is determined to create a name for himself; carve out his own path and be recognized for his own accomplishments, not just being an extension of his family's legacy. He has always been able to excel in whatever he's set his mind to, he knows his success well, but he wants to continue to push himself and his boundaries to become as successful and influential as he can be. The main thing is that he doesn't want to always be remembered as just another Hwang. | LIKES: - Strategic Games or Puzzles: Sung-jin enjoys these types of games because he likes activities that challenge his mind. These strategic games appeal to his more analytical nature and his love for calculated moves. He'd put all his effort into these games to makes sure showed nothing less than the excellence he strove for every day in all aspects of his life. - Outdoor Activities: Sung-jin favors activities like running and swimming that allow him to focus on self-discipline and personal growth. These types of outdoor activities help him channel his competitive spirit and dedication to excellence. Continuing to nurture that side of his personality, generally making him woke up early in the morning to put that effort into these exercises. - Reading: Reading expands the reader's knowledge and Sung-jin attempts to read at least a half an hour each day to continue expanding his knowledge. These books are mostly non-fiction, peer reviewed journals and textbook like resources that feed people information as they read. - Quiet Time: Sung-jin uses his quiet time to plan out his next activity or just reflect on what happened after the activity to prevent any last minute mistakes from happening. There's never usually a time where he allows the time to be wasted, during his quiet time, he made time to spend with his wife, Artemis, opting to keep work and romance in two separate parts of his life. - Transfiguration: Transfiguration is considered one of the most complex branches of magic they could be learning in school, which was why he'd always taken an interest in it. He also thought it was a class that could continue to challenge him, so this was where most of his focus went into when he'd been a student. DISLIKES: - Dishonesty and Manipulation: Sung-jin would rather people be honest with him, even if the truth hurts him, it would be better than the person saying a lie and him finding out about it later. Dishonesty earns the other person with a break of trust, and if they had already broken their second chance, don't bother coming back to him because he wouldn't care. He finds manipulation annoying because people are still hiding their true intentions, and he just wants people to be clear and upfront with him. - Mediocrity: Given the fact that he has always held high standards for himself in all aspects of his life, Sung-jin wouldn't like it when other people are being mediocre. No matter what, there's always room for people to more effort into what they are doing, and if they can't then they can put as much effort into what they are doing as they can. Sung-jin can admit that not everyone has the same level of determination and effort but to see significant progress is enough for him to give the person a chance. - Being Defined by his family: Sung-jin's main aspiration is make a name for himself outside of his family name so that others will remember him for his accomplishments, not the his family name. This is something that has developed into a very strong dislike, almost close to hatred. He is an individual and would like it if everyone else treated him as such, without being tied down by his last name. - Lack of Control: Due to Sung-jin's preference in always being aware of his surroundings and calculating everything, he would really dislike it if he was placed in a situation where he didn't have control of the situation or its results. He would try to seek a more logical explanation for everything to try to regain some semblance of control. - Wasted Time: Sung-jin is goal-oriented and values productivity, so he would dislike anything that feels like a waste of time. He would also just ask people to get straight to the point in their conversations because beating around the bush is something he believes would waste time. The activities he's participating in need to contribute to his growth or success. |

CHILDHOOD. | Sung-jin Hwang was the first born to Kihyun and Hee-Young Hwang, born on the fifth of November in South Jeolla Provice of South Korea. He was raised as a member of the influential Hwang family, surrounded by luxury, he was never far from privilege. His family, known for its veela bloodline and support of the dark arts, gave him a unique heritage. From a young age, Sung-jin was shaped by the demanding expectations and strict values of his family; quickly learning that to earn their approval and maintain his privileged lifestyle, he would have to exceed his family's expectations in everything he did. He became obedient towards his family's wishes, not wanting to risk losing their support and the lifestyle he'd known his whole life. Despite all of that, Sung-jin can still look back on his childhood with a sense of contentment. He found it easier to thrive when he was under pressure, and slowly began to find joy in his ability to excel and stand out in challenging situations. His familial environment fueled his ambition and his drive to try to build a name for himself, outside of the Hwang family legacy so many before him carried. Two years later, his younger sister, Soo Jin was born. Their parents doted on the young girl, spoiling her rotten by their wealthy upbringing. Though it had been a little difficult for Sung-jin to get accustomed to having a younger sister, as he grew up, he began finding pleasure in playing the role of the protective older brother. While he hadn't really played a role in her pampering in the beginning two or three years of her life, he did begin enjoying his time with her when it seemed his control over the situation was getting better, and he added to the pampering she received. When Soo Jin was a toddler, Sung-jin believed they were inseparable. He would try to protect her from other people that might not have understood her, and even protected her against their parents fury whenever they did something wrong. It was only when Soo Jin finally began cultivating her own voice that her older brother began to back off, not pulling away completely, but giving her the space she needed to become the person she was supposed to be without her hand being held. Soon after that, he received his invitation to attend a magical school, which made it even easier for him to let go since he wasn't going to be home with his sister all the time anymore. (423) |
SCHOOL YEARS. | At the age of eleven, Sung-jin was sent to Hogwarts for school. He didn't mind the move, this would give him more chances to interact with his cousins that attended the same school, and surely it would prove to be an adventure like no other. This distance from his family gave him the opportunity to establish his own identity separate from being just another privileged member of the Hwang family. It wasn't surprising to anyone when Sung-jin was sorted into Slytherin. During his early year, he was more reserved, staying cautious to avoid making mistakes or associating with anyone his family wouldn't approve him being friends with. Without his family helicoptering over his shoulder, Sung-jin was careful to navigate his new environment on his own term, often trying to keep to himself as he adapted to the new surroundings. Over the next few years, Sung-jin began opening up more, gradually building a social circle that still aligned with his family's expectations. He limited his friendships to those he knew his parents would accept: primarily purebloods. True to his upbringing, he also put a lot of effort into his studies, earning top marks to continue to meet the high standards set by his family. During his sixth year, Sung-jin learned that his parents had arranged his marriage to someone that was still unknown to him. Yet, this news didn't surprise him considering his family's influence and traditions; he waited patiently to the end of the school term where he found out who his fiancée was over the summer. Upon further observation, Sung-jin realized Artemis Hei-Ran Kang was actually someone he'd already known from his time in Hogwarts. Later, Sung-jin experienced a major setback when he ended up getting kidnapped and thrown in the Accona prison with the rest of the people that were creatures and had magical abilities that had been captured. The experience in the prison had left him deeply scarred both emotionally and mentally. Coming back to school right away after the mass breakout, he tried to catch up with his studies, not wanting to fall behind and be held back in his last year in Hogwarts. He was thankful to Artemis for playing a crucial role in helping him catch up with his schoolwork, ensuring he was able to graduate on time, despite the challenges he faced this school term. This wouldn't be the thing that forged their bond, but at least it made sure that Sung-jin had enough time to be with his fiancée, even if it was for the purpose of getting through school. (428) |
ADULTHOOD. | After graduating from Hogwarts, Sung-jin returned to South Korea and secured a position at the Ministry of Magic as an Obliviator trainee. He welcomed the change from school to the professional world, appreciating the freedom that came with no longer having to stay in those dorms. The transition to a more independent life and a career path that suited his skill felt like a fresh start for him. However, despite these successes, Sung-jin struggled with lingering trauma from his time in the Accona prison. He never cared to openly admit his struggles, the psychological toll from the event in the prison began to impact his work and daily life. Reluctantly, Sung-jin decided to seek therapy in secret, keeping it hidden from public knowledge to avoid embarrassing. While he wasn't comfortable with the idea of needing therapy, the sessions ultimately allowed him to confront his emotions and process the trauma he'd endured. During this period, Artemis had come to South Korea to support him, and they began looking for a place to live together. They finally got through this challenging chapter in his life as he tried to regain some balance in life. Together, they eventually found a place that suited them both, finally solidifying their partnership. Now, Sung-jin is focused one proving his worth--not just to his influential family but to himself and those around him. He made a significant progress in his mental recovery and is in a much better mental state. He's enjoying his life as he continues to build on his reputation and strive for success. In the Spring, around some time in April, Artemis successfully got pregnant. Later on, Sung-jin and Artemis got married to each other and went on their honeymoon. (286) |

RP SAMPLE (200 words min.)
For whatever reason Elizabeth was forced to go to this ridiculous ball, maybe a year ago she would’ve actually enjoyed such a party, but in this situation it wasn’t the most entertaining. The blonde hadn’t even tried to dress up to impress this time, her red dress was plain. If it wasn’t for the boldness of the color, she doubted anyone would notice her walking into the Great Hall. Maybe she was wrong and just believed she could walk through the school without being noticed, but she could make it so she wasn’t recognizable if she wanted to, but what was the purpose of that now? She thought the reason she had been left behind had been to do something for her father, but he didn’t send her a letter or anything. It must’ve been a punishment or something so she wouldn’t be home for the holidays or maybe her mother had interfered again?
Whatever the reason was for her staying at the school, Elizabeth was deeply grateful for the break from everything she had to do at home. While it still felt like both a blessing and curse to be stuck at the school for the holidays, she shouldn’t be stuck on that when there was a party going on. The blonde had stopped by the drink table to grab a glass of punch before walking off to the side of the room. Dancing. That’s what these parties were all about and Lizzie was not someone that would get up and dancing in front of a crowd. What a ridiculous idea? She shouldn’t have even thought about coming to the ball. There was no point.
As the blonde turned to leave, her eyes landed on someone she didn’t recall from any previous years. He was far too old to be a first year, so her guess was that he was a transfer student. Elizabeth glanced at his outfit. He was different from all the stuffy pureblood students at the school, that was a given from the way he dressed to this formal event. Lizzie looked away and moved to walk past him. New kid or not, she wasn’t in the mood to entertain these festivities anymore. She might as well go back to her dorm room and settle in for the night.
