ELSPETH COLETTE PRINCE
17 AUGUST 10, 2003 STUDENT SLYTHERIN SEVENTH PUREBLOOD BELFAST, IRELAND | PERSONALITY: Elspeth, known as "Elsie", is a wildcard among the Prince family, set apart in both demeanour and approach. Unassuming and altruistic, she holds an innocence that shields her like a bubble, and she embraces the world with her heart on her sleeve. Her kindness is sincere and indiscriminate, with no hidden agenda or need to manipulate to get what she wants. That’s not to say she doesn't get what she wants; in fact, she often does, and is very "Princess-like" in that regard. Being well-loved by her family has allowed her to preserve her innocence, as she’s rarely confronted with harsh realities—everything has been effortlessly handed to her on a silver platter. However, this deep well of compassion and a lack of hard work in some aspects of her life also makes her naïve, often blind to the complexities and agendas of the people around her. A natural people-pleaser, she’s impressionable and susceptible to the opinions of others. Her moral compass is guided by a deep loyalty to those around her, though she strives to be good-natured in any scenario and is often the heart of any moral debate. Additionally, while she is often naive, she has moments of clarity, where a sharp sense of judgement allows her to see through deception, but those moments are few and far between. Despite her soft personality, Elspeth demonstrates many traits of a true Slytherin. She is a reliable and competent leader, though often overcommitted to the causes she devotes herself to. Her warm, approachable character makes her easy to confide in, and she is an excellent listener. Yet, despite her leadership potential, she rarely seeks out roles of power. Elspeth’s faith in her capabilities is tempered by a vulnerability—a longing for approval and validation from both peers and mentors. Possibly her greatest strength—and her greatest flaw—is her "all-or-nothing" approach. She tackles every challenge, though she faces few, with relentless intensity. She views outcomes in stark black-and-white terms of success or failure, with little room for compromise. This frequently leads to burnout and frustration, particularly in disputes with those who don't share her level of commitment. In this way, she mirrors the same intensity as the rest of her family. ASPIRATION: Elspeth's greatest ambition is to become a Professor of Charms. Easily her best subject at Hogwarts, she is fascinated by it; not just the magic itself, but the idea of researching how she could create her own charms. She has a deep love for learning, and when that is coupled with her well of understanding and empathy, it would allow her to build trust and make a genuine difference in the world. She believes that children are the future, and if she can help to shape their lives, that would be enough for her. Beyond career prospects, Elspeth seeks to learn Occlumency as a means of strengthening her mental resilience. She also hopes to support her cousin Ethan in his endeavours as she is endlessly loyal to him. | LIKES: - Magical research - Charms and Herbology - Any shade of purple - Volunteer work - Nature; flowers, insects, gardening, walking and stargazing - Mystery and Romance novels - Learning new things DISLIKES: - Bigots - Gossip and gossipers - Loud environments (particularly parties) - Cynicism - Meat of any kind - Being rushed - Discussing her family |

CHILDHOOD. | Elspeth was born into a union between philanthropist Lorcan Quinn and Eloise Prince, the Managing Director of the Prince Foundation. Their marriage was one of convenience, sparked by Lorcan's charitable donations to organisations across Britain, which caught Eloise's attention. Their relationship progressed swiftly, culminating in a quick engagement and marriage, and Elspeth arrived shortly after, a cherished addition to their lives. She was wanted, adored, and treated like a princess—showered with extravagant gifts and hailed as their darling angel. Her childhood was comfortably privileged; anything she desired was readily granted. For her fifth birthday, her father even gifted her an Abraxan, although she didn’t learn to ride until she was ten. Nevertheless, the thought behind the gesture meant the world to her. It practically earned him "father of the year". In contrast to her cousin Ethan, with whom she shares a close bond through her maternal grandparents, Elspeth was loud, vibrant, and always on the lookout for the next adventure. Her contagious spirit and penchant for singing and dancing never failed to bring laughter to her family—a trait she still carries with her today. Unlike her cousins, Elspeth met little pressure; her parents only asked that she be content, that she be honest with them, and that she do her best in whatever she pursued. And she did. From ballroom dancing—she refused ballet, claiming her feet were too weak—to arts and crafts, Elspeth always gave her all, even if her skills weren’t impressive. Though her parents prioritized her happiness, they arranged for a private tutor, much like her cousins, at her request. This preparation for Hogwarts showed that beneath her bubbly surface lay a surprisingly sharp intellect—when taught by the right person. While she often daydreamed during lessons about the connections between Latin and spellcasting, her tutoring laid a solid foundation for her success at Hogwarts. True to form, Elspeth approached her studies with determination. |
SCHOOL YEARS. | Like any child attending Hogwarts for the first time, Elspeth was taken by the grandeur of the castle. While she was accustomed to the luxury of the Prince household, it did not hold a candle to Hogwarts. Hand in hand with a future classmate she had met on the boat ride across the Great Lake, Elspeth's first experience was nothing short of exciting. As the Sorting Hat rest on her perfectly straight blonde hair, it took its time deliberating between Hufflepuff and Slytherin before finally calling out “Slytherin.” She felt relieved. While Elspeth appreciated Hufflepuff and acknowledged she could have thrived if chosen by Helga, she soon discovered that Slytherin would present her with invaluable lessons that Hufflepuff never could. Plus, she did not think she could handle the inevitable embarrassment of being a Prince sorted into Hufflepuff. Throughout her years at Hogwarts, Elspeth maintained great greats, consistently achieving Exceeds Expectations. She found a natural affinity for Charms, enjoying the nuances of the subject, while her passion for Herbology blossomed. Often picking flowers to share with friends, she easily made friendships, though she chose to keep her circle small and close-knit. During the summers, she devoted her time to volunteering alongside her father's charitable endeavours, engaging in everything from creature welfare to community health, and guiding younger witches and wizards preparing for their first year at Hogwarts. It was through tutoring that she uncovered a deep love for education, further fuelling her ambition to excel in her studies and sparking her dream of one day leading her own research into charm creation. Now in her seventh year, Elspeth is prepared, yet afraid of a future beyond education. To her, Hogwarts is a rigid schedule and she fears what effect the lack of routine may have on her post graduation. Growing up is scary, Elspeth thinks, and she does not feel entirely ready. Nonetheless, she seeks to grow her circle of friends and forge lasting connections, all while pursuing opportunities to volunteer around the school. Her goal is to strengthen her odds of becoming a Professor, but she will only feel worthy when she is armed with the life experience and knowledge she knows is important to success. |

Jackie loved the lake; when she is there, her creativity flares up like nowhere else in the castle. She could conjure a hundred ideas from the pebbles and rocks that litter its shores. And then there was the Giant Squid—something, no, someone— she was determined to befriend by the end of her fourth year. She agreed on Fourth year in her head because she liked to be realistic about her goals, even if it could easily end her life in an instant. She’d never admit that fear, of course; in fact, she’d reason that if the Squid did happen to snatch her away, she likely deserved it.
Perched beside the gently flowing water, Jackie found that its rhythm helped her focus. It was a serene, fluid refuge, contrasting sharply with her chaotic surroundings. Scattered around her were the remains of coat hangers she'd disassembled to fashion a belt from nearby plants, a collection of wilting flowers, and a bottle of Muggle glue she’d swiped from home, convinced that attaching things with magic just wouldn’t do. The inspiration had struck her the night before, while she laid wide awake, her dormmate attempting to break the Guinness World Record for the loudest snorer ever.
Clutching a single, intact coat hanger, Jackie felt a sharp sting as she ripped it apart, the metal biting into her finger. "Sh—sugar! Am I turning into Sleeping Beauty or something? Ouch!" She lifted her finger to her mouth, attempting to staunch the bleeding—unsanitary, perhaps, but effective. For dramatic flair, she swayed back and forth, as if nursing the most serious injury known to humanity.
