Remus's father, Lyall Lupin was brother to Noel's father, Leonard. |
CHILDHOOD. | Cordelia had a good childhood, close in age to sisters, just a year apart from each of them. Her sister Scarlet was eldest, then Cordelia, and the youngest was Mina. Her parents were loving and caring when they were paying attention to the girls, though they were both busy, her siblings were her best friends and spent lots of time running outside when they were young. This is probably where Cordelia found her love of all things herbology as the woods around where they lived were beautiful and full of life. Originally she was a seer, passed down from her ancestors, but in Hogwarts she was changed to a werewolf, which removed her ability to see the future. In their younger years, the girls lived in a caravan park on the Isle of Wight where their mother met clients off the beaten path with her seer skills. Her father was often away from home, and so the girls ended up spending lots of time with the holiday goers who spent time in the holiday village next door to the caravan park, as well as those who were less well off and rented the caravans for trips to the island. These people were mostly muggles, and so Cordelia was able from an early age to get a wide and comprehensive education into the world of muggles. She knew to keep quiet about the things her family could do, but would always find it funny how long muggles would wait for things, like the kettle to boil. She felt lucky to be magical, and to have a life where she didn't have to wait for so many things. Her favorite place in the world was this large curved tree that looked out over the ocean, as a child when she would argue with her parents or her sisters she would escape to this tree and climb up onto the curve and sit there, pulling her legs up to her chest and just feeling the safety of the tree pressing into her back, the scent of the salty sea air in her nose, and she felt okay again. It was one of the hardest things about going away to school, leaving this place where she felt at home and safe and secure. 379 |
SCHOOL YEARS. | For Cordelia, Hogwarts was full of both wonderful and bad, which makes sense since it spans a wide time frame of her life. Wonderful was so many friends and firsts, the worst things were losing her sister and in her later years the loss of her first real love, who left her with no goodbye. But she had so many amazing firsts in those days, first kiss: Taylor; some other important firsts: Lenis; some turbulent relationships with Kat who was kind of a frenemy but also turned her and so had a strong connection. In the later years had a strong connection to Micah who she lived with after Hogwarts. Best friends with Carman Jones from year one and all the way through the years, and with so many other amazing friends. She joined resistance groups, and fought against evil as much as she could, and she had lots of growth and growing up. During Hogwarts, Cordelia also grew massively in her skills as a witch. She was a good student, she tried hard in her courses, and enjoyed most of them. She really liked Herbology and charms, and enjoyed all things creative. Going into Hogwarts year one Cordelia was a child, literally, but when she graduated she was absolutely not a child anymore. She had grown into someone brave, but unfortunately kind of broken and needing to find something, but not really being sure what it was. Something was missing that she needed to find, and as she graduated, that was the quest she found herself going on, to find herself, her real inner self, not the Cordelia of her youth, child, sister, daughter; not the Cordelia of Hogwarts, student, friend, lover; but the real Cordelia. 287 |
ADULTHOOD. | After school Cordelia traveled and struggled to find her place. She traveled all over the world seeking and learning and finding rare plants and herbs and learning more about her craft. She spent five years in Russia living in a cave in the side of a mountain. She was practicing spells she had made up and working with herbs she hung from the roof of her cave. She was brought out of her five years in the cave by a friend who needed her help, and she rose to the occasion, but as soon as her duty had been done she escaped once again, this time to France. She found herself a place where she could live and stay alone, not make connections. But then something happened. She met a homeless child who ran the streets with a street gang and she couldn't help herself but get involved with helping him. He was starting out to con her, but once she got to know him, and him her, he didn't want to scam her anymore. And she honestly wanted to help him. She spent the next seven years in France with this child, caring for him until he reached an age when he could go to school and be on his own. Then she knew it was time for her to move on. The connection she made to Pierre softened her, but she was still very unwilling to make real connections to people. Instead she chose to make surface level connections to learn what she needed to learn and see what she needed to see. After France she has spent the last five or so years traveling all over the world, never settling anywhere long enough to set down roots of any kind. She is hopeful that coming back to London will allow her to find some kind of place that she feels she belongs. She has missed that feeling.320 |

RP SAMPLE (200 words min.)
The door that stood in front of her looked ancient, it was at least 10 feet tall and rounded at the top, black as obsidian with a split down the middle, and a large keyhole with no doorknob. Well, I guess that explains this she said to herself, pulling the large silver key out of her pocket that had appeared on her bedside table at the inn that morning along with a note indicating that her new lodgings had been acquired and the address at which she had subsequently appeared. But this... this couldn't be where she was going to live?
Taking the silver key between her fingers she slid it into the keyhold and felt it CLICK into place. It took quite a strong turn to make it move, but it turned in the lock, and she heard the mechanism inside slide back and with a swishing noise, the door swung backwards to reveal an entryway. Gingerly, she stepped inside and was quite amazed to find herself in what could have been a corridor designed by Dolores Umbridge! There was a side table with stationary, and some fancy looking chairs, and all along the wall were decorations from different parts of the world showing off wildlife of all kinds, but very cute wildlife. Not the spooky entrance she had been expecting. "Hello?" She called out, hoping for some kind of assistance, "It's Cordelia Lupin, I believe I'm your new renter?"
In a swish and a poof of perfumed purple smoke that left Cordelia coughing and spluttering the oldest shortest tubbiest witch Cordelia had ever seen in her life appeared before her and looked up (because, she was truly short) at the woman, a wide grin on her fairly toothless face, "Miss Lupin," she said, "how grand of you to turn up! I've only been waiting for several months for your arrival!"
