CHILDHOOD. | Cade was born to two pureblood squibs, Margret and Mark Black. Both his pureblood grandparents married off their magic less off spring to each other and sort of cut all family ties. Despite the rough beginning Cade had a normal childhood. Great parents who genuinely love and cared for him. His mom is a seamstress so he spent embarrassing amounts of time being her dressing dummy so she could finish commissions. His dad, Mark, is a rehabilitation caretaker for creatures which means Cade grew up bring home every injured magic and non magical creature home. Their lack of magic made it hard for them to find respect in the magical word, but he never wanted for anything as a kid. Growing up Cade still lived in the wizarding word everyone just assumed he’d be a squib like his parents. Even his parents has set in on a magic less path. They wanted him to learn a trade like they had. However as he got older it because very obvious that he had an affinity for magic. As soon as his gifts became known to the rest of the family his grandparents pulled him into the fold. He met cousins and distant relatives that had never paid him much attention before. The trade path he and his parents had laid out was quickly crushed by his grandparents and he was set on the pureblood path, the right schools, the right friends - the right future ect… Being forced on to that path quickly killed what kindness he’d grown up with. His family had only taken interest in him because he was useful, so he started treating his classmates that way too. For now he is willing to go along with some of his grandparents request because he needs their sponsorship and connections to get what he wants. But once he can stand on his own two feet he’s gone. He’s going to cut his extended family off they way they cut his parents off. |

RP SAMPLE (200 words min.)
Sand peppered his caramel skin as he squinted in the direction of the sun. It was hot, but it wasn’t hot like home and if he was honest he missed it. The sound of his older brother, Rimes, droning on wasn’t making it any easier to forget about home.
”Are you even listening to me? You’re being childish.”
York dragged tried amber eyes away from the beach and looked at his brother. Rimes was two years older than him and never failed to remind him of that. ”I’m not going back so that I can listening to the family remind Nahri of how great she could be if only I hadn’t been born.” Frustration flickered on his brother face and York slide his glass of hibiscus tea out of the way knowingly.
”Life is not fair, brother. No one knows that better than Nahri.”Rimes flung his arm out knocking his own coffee cup from the table. Before it all went to mess York slide back. ”See. You saw that. Nahri can’t see anything without you. How is that fair”
York laughed at his brother’s assumptions. He had seen the glasses and dishes falling from the table before they happened but not because he’s used his abilities. His brother was simply as clumsy as bull. ”It’ll be different this time. I’ve spoken with father and mother.”
”No it wont.” York felt that distant tug he always felt when he tapped into the carvoyant side of himself. ”They’re going to take my passport away and declare me unfit to live on my own.” He saw it in his head like it was happening as he and his brother sat at the cafe table. ”And then they’ll have guardianship over me. Thats what I see.”
Rimes sat back, surprise on his face. ”No that can’t be right. I spoke to father. They’re willing to negotiate.” Even as the words left his brother’s mouth he saw the moment Rimes believed him. York wasn’t wrong. Just like his mother and aunts could see him, he could see them scheme and weighing options. It was like playing chess without actually pulling out the board. ”What about Nahri?”
York sat up. ”That’t not fair. He loved his sister. In fact he would do almost anything for her. The only thing he wasn’t willing to give was his freedom. Just because she wanted to continue their traditions didn’t mean York should have to as well. He was a person and he was sick of being treated like a piece of her that could simply be glued back together. ”You’re asking me to stop living for her. No she can’t see the future without me but it not like she can’t still live freely. She still gets to do all the things she wants. If I go back I lose my friends, my restaurants, my ability to go where and when I wont to.” His gaze followed a pair of seagulls circle the beach cafe’. ”Beside. I don’t want to see anything. It’s hard to look people in the face and tell them bad news. I can only see the terrible stuff, sickness, pain, betrayal...She get to see the prospects of new jobs, babies, that bit of money someone might come into.’
His brother opened his mouth but York was on a rolled now. His irritation with his family wasn’t just wearing on him, It was now effort his business. ”And tell Bes I’m watching for him now. If he comes near my restaurant again I’ll know he’s coming and be ready.” That was a lie, York didn’t have control like that. He couldn’t single out a person and watch them all the time but his family didn’t know that. They didn’t know what he could do they were only ever concerned with what Nahri could do when he was with her.
