ANDAEUS SINGER
16 October 26, 2003 MINSTREL/PICKPOCKET/THIEF HOGWARTS/SLYTHERIN/DROPOUT PUREBLOOD KNOCKTURN ALLEY | PERSONALITY: Andaeus likes to entertain people. He loves playing his guitar and singing. He’s friendly and very engaging to his audience. He’s a very nice guy who likes to help out should it be needed. If he’s in Diagon Alley and someone asks him where to find a certain store, he’ll tell them if he knows where it is. He’ll help somebody if they need it carrying something. But don’t bully or heckle Andaeus. If a student from Hogwarts recognizes him and decides to bully him, he’ll find a way to get even with him. Should he be by himself, he will follow them until they are alone and he will attack him and beat him up. He’ll also take a few strands of the bully’s hair for his next Polyjuice potion for the next day’s crime spree. He pickpockets people, usually when he’s angry or didn’t get enough money entertaining people. And usually, he victimizes London Muggles. Muggles sometimes have their wallets in their back pockets and the Muggle pound notes weigh a lot less than Wix galleons. Muggles don’t notice when you pick their wallet out of their pocket as easily as a wizard might. Also, if a pound note falls to the ground, it usually floats down to it and doesn’t make a sound when it hits it. One can easily sweep down and pick it up just before the person who lost it turns around looking for it. If a galleon falls out of a wix’ pocket it makes a bang when it falls onto the ground, immediately catching the wix’ attention. So when Andaeus goes out looking for money, he usually victimizes the London Muggles. He also likes to hustle Muggles at pool, using a hexed cue ball which makes it terribly shy so it always wants to hide in the pockets of the pool table. The cue ball always follows the target ball into the pocket no matter how softly you hit the ball or what kind of English you put on it. When he knows Hogwart students will be in Diagon Alley, he will victimize them when he can. Though he’s usually hanging out as Andaeus. It depends on how they treat him. If they treat him badly, he will find them and probably mug them and use the Obliviate spell on them. ASPIRATION: Andaeus doesn’t want much. Just a nice place he can call his own and not have to work at all. Sometimes, he dreams he was Fagin with a gang of kids who could steal for him and give him their booty. He would of course give them room and board for their trouble and any security he could. | LIKES: -playing guitar and singing -entertaining people - hustling Muggles at pool -writing songs -jamming with other musicians DISLIKES: -being embarrassed or bullied -Hogwarts’ students -scrounging for food in dumpsters -beating up people and stealing their money -watching rich people carrying all the things they’ve bought |

CHILDHOOD. | TW: Alcoholic parents, beatings, animal cruelty, bad foster parents, homelessness. Peter Edward Pence was born on October 26, 2004 to Lane and Rose Pence in London. Mr. Pence worked at the Ministry of Magic and Mrs. Pence stayed at home. Mr, Pence drank a lot and beat his wife up, and his wife drank. She found many things that he did, as a baby, that were wrong and she would yell at him and occasionally hit him. They had a dog. One day four year old Peter threw a shoe at the dog and it bit him. Suddenly, the dog started strangling. Mrs. Pence heard the weird sound and helped the dog out by taking the collar off it. She turned around to Peter and hit him for hurting the dog. That was Peter’s first feat of magic. Perhaps because hey were both drunk, they didn’t realize it at the time. The brutality finally stopped when Peter was nine years old. He went out playing with bruises on his arms. The bruises on his legs were hidden by long pants when all the other kids wore shorts. So Peter was taken out of his parents’ house and put with Mrs. Lovett. Mrs. Lovett seemed like a very nice woman. She loved children. However, while she might’ve given the kids the affection they lacked, they lacked nutritional food and other necessities they required. She just wanted the money she received for taking care of the children. Any talk of Hogwarts was forbidden. Mrs. Lovett didn’t want her children to want to leave. Peter was always crying because he missed his parents. He couldn’t wait for his letter from Hogwarts came for him. An owl flew by and dropped a letter for him onto the ground. Mrs. Lovett, alerted by the presence of the owl, was upset when she saw the owl knowing it was probably from Hogwarts and this meant that one of her moneymakers would be leaving. She couldn’t allow that, so she took the letter and burnt it. She burnt several more letters that arrived. Peter even asked if his letter from Hogwarts came yet. Mrs. Lovett was angry that one of her most serious rules were broken and demanded that Peter went to bed without eating anything. Then one day, two men came by and took Peter away after he said he wanted to go to Hogwarts. It had to be better than living with Mrs. Lovett. That’s all he knew. |
SCHOOL YEARS. | Peter loved his first year at Hogwarts so much. He was very upset that he wasn’t able to go to Hogwarts earlier because he was born in October. It would have helped him so much getting free from Mrs. Lovett earlier! It wasn’t fair! He was fascinated by being able to fly on a broom and doing magic. His classes were interesting and he liked his magical classes very much. Being curious, he looked around the castle a lot. He tried playing quidditch because he wanted to fly on his broom, but didn’t quite understand the rules of the game. He just liked flying on his broom, which he tried to do all the time. While he excelled in his magical classes, he didn’t do as well in his mundane classes like Astronomy, Muggle Studies and History of Magic. He always asked the muggleborn students if this was true in their lives or that was true, and he just laughed at them when they confirmed it was. He didn’t understand muggles at all, having nothing to do with them as he grew up. He also liked wrestling with other students. He was reprimanded again and again for not doing his mundane class homework and failing their exams. The friends he did make he met in detention. And most of the time, he fell asleep in detention because the mundane classwork bored him. He was so interested in charms and potions, that he was going to steal a third year’s books on them until he realized it was the same schoolbook he used. So, he stole a fourth year’s book instead. He thought learning the advanced spells would be as easy as learning the advanced potions and give him an advantage on the other students. The advanced spells would’ve given him an advantage if they weren’t harder to learn than the ones in his own book. So he decided to return the advanced spells book and keep the fourth year’s charm book. He was caught and was punished with more detention. His grades were so bad that he had to repeat the first year. Peter graduated to second year. He did the same thing he did in his first year, so he was told he had to repeat his second year. It was also suggested that maybe Hogwarts wasn’t for him. He was fourteen now and he agreed with the school administration and gave up on Hogwarts completely. He didn’t want to return to foster care. So he basically disappeared. He stopped attending Hogwarts. He found a broken down house at the end of Hogsmeade with a burnt second floor. The shell was still there so it looked okay with just a bit of black burnt bits in the windows. This was his new home. |
ON HIS OWN. | He went to someone to change the name on his birth certificate to Andaeus Singer and change the year of his brith, making it legal for him to drink for several alleons. He chose Andaeus because he was a wrestler in Greek mythology. And of course, Singer because he liked to sing. Andaeus followed a halfblood student unknowingly to London one day and he realized he liked the muggle world. He likes playing his guitar and singing in Daigon Alley and Piccadilly Square in London. He’s completely free to do whatever he wants and whenever he wants to do it and he likes that. No one bothers him in the condemned house he has settled into yet. He doesn’t know if it’s scheduled to be demolished or not. If and when he finds out it will be destroyed, he’ll have to find another place to live. Until then, he likes his life. It’s not as great as it could be, but he knows nobody who is as free as he is. Sometimes he doesn’t get enough money to buy something decent to eat at the end of the day, so he might be found scrounging around in the dumpsters outside restaurants. If that doesn’t help, he’ll go to London and pick pockets to get money so he can eat. He doesn’t like it, but he needs to survive. When he does have extra money, he might go to a bar and get a drink and play pool. He might jam with some musician friends of his. Fellow musicians might come to Diagon Alley and they might jam together. They normally get more money when that happns, because it’s a lot more fun for the passersby. |

RP SAMPLE (200 words min.)
Andaeus picked a central spot in Diagon Alley that didn’t block any store at so no proprieters could complain about him being there. The stores hadn’t opened yet so there weren’t many shoppers walking around yet. He was hoping like all the merchants that there was going to be a lot of people shopping today. He had a small playlist of his favorite traditional Irish songs but expected to add to it with other songs, probably from well known musicals. He tuned his guitar to make sure it would be perfectly in tune. He looked down at his guitar case and realized he had forgotten to drop a few galleons in it to help entice people help him out with a few more. He put his hand in his pocket and took out four galleons and dropped them into the case. He smiled as they thudded as they made contact with the case.
He started off with a ballad from Camelot. “Guenevere.” Certainly not the fast or fun song ever written, rather dark really, but Andaeus liked it a lot. Hopefully, it wouldln’t be a warning of how today would go, Andaeus thought. Then he sang a song from Sunday in the Park With George: “Finishing The Hat.”
Now, feeling warmed up, he played songs from his playlist. Traditional Irish songs that made one clap along or tap their foot to the beat as they listened to them. A merchant he recognized said good morning and dropped a galleon into his case. Andaeus always played the merchant’s favorite song whenever he did that, so he stopped the song he was singing and played it.
Not many merchants liked him playing in Diagon Alley. But Andaeus would argue that he helped entertain the passersby and they stayed longer because of his singing. He didn’t know that to be true, of course, but he hoped it was. He also had a right to be there, being that it was a public space. He wasn’t hurting anyone either. So he played and sung on.
