CHILDHOOD. | Russell is the youngest child of James and Susan Tynan. He is the youngest of three boys and was the quietest of the group, preferring to read a book or spend time pouring over magical items his father would bring home from the office rather than playing quidditch or chasing around with the other kids that lived nearby. By the time he was three he was reading chapter books and, although he did not have the coordination to take things apart and put them back together, he was directing his older siblings on how to. He excelled at math and science but has always had a passion for puzzles. It never mattered the type, math, logic, or simple picture puzzles, he could never get enough. By the time he was five he was competing in chess matches with local masters and beating them by the time he was seven.
His other passions, from the time he was little, were boats and no-maj electronics. He’d taught himself how to build a boat when he was six and his father had given in and gotten him sailing lessons. His brothers would swipe the electronic toys of the no-maj kids nearby and Russell would take them apart and put them back together, so they worked better than they had to begin with. The fact that he would spend as much time with his father trying to figure out the newest unidentified magical object that had come into MACUSA as he would doing anything else had earned the nickname Boy Wonder from his father since more often than not, it was Russell who was explaining how the item worked to his father rather than the other way around.

SCHOOL YEARS. | Although pureblood with a long line of wizarding history on both sides, his parents enrolled him in accelerated, no-maj schools just to keep his mind occupied. By the time he received his letter from Ilvermorny, he had just graduated from eighth grade in the no-maj gifted program. Though as smart as he was, he had no friends at his school and was ready for a change of scenery. Like his elder brother Matthey, Russell was sorted into the Horned Serpent house. The two things he found he couldn’t master were flying and quidditch. Which amused his brother who was the captain of the house team. Ironically, while he could memorize the wand movements and incantations, he had trouble mastering his wand as his brain was already moving onto the next spell he needed to complete before his body had completed the spell he was working on. Russell had needed a tutor for the first time ever to get through his first year of charms and transfiguration. As he progressed in school, he was allowed to take additional classes and by the time he graduated he had completed all classes that were available to students at the school as well as having completed the four years associated with no-maj high school as a home-school program. Given his intelligence level, he never fit in with his peers and even his brothers avoided him while in the Castle.
After completing Ilvermorny, Russell took a job as an Auror with MACUSA as well as enrolling in a no-maj college and focusing his studies on psychology, criminal justice and microbiology. He completed undergraduate classes in two years and completed three PhD programs simultaneously in Forensic psychology, criminal justice and DNA analysis.

ADULDHOOD. | Russell joined the Department of Aurors with MACUSA directly after graduating from Ilvermorny and has been a lab rat ever since. His love is in everything DNA related and works with that and trace magic analysis, but with his degrees in Forensic Psychology and Criminal Law, he also helps with profiling. At 26 Russell entered into an arranged marriage with Katheryn and two years later his son James was born. Three years after that Katheryn ended up getting cancer and eventually passed away when James was eight leaving Russell as a single father to a son smarter than he was.
Russell continues working for MACUSA while James attends both a gifted no-maj school and is attending Ilvermorny remotely, only spending time at the school to sit for exams. James is schedule to graduate high school by fourteen and Ilvermorny by fifteen if not sooner.
Russell’s accomplishments in his field have led him to speak at several symposiums throughout the US. This last symposium back in May featured both magical and no-maj techniques to analyzing DNA as well as trace magic. He remains an avid boater from youth, having bought property in Virgina on Aquia Creek. His property features a boat dock where during the summer he uses his boat to get to work rather than aparating. During the winter he uses either aparation or the Floo network depending on if James is accompanying him to the office or going to his own classes.
