TERM INFORMATION
and class information

TERM

Each term will last approximately 5 months in real time. Term will officially start on Jan 3 and will end on June 3. There will be a Valentine's Day Dance in Febraury and a Summer Ball in June to celebrate the end of term. Please check this thread as updates will be made regularly as plots develop.

CLASSES

Classes at Inside New Hogwarts will be run based on the Professor's discretion.

If you are the IC Professor, you will be responsible for posting at least 1 lesson per term. You may create your lesson in two ways.

The first way, you may write up a "lecture" and assign homework in a Questions and Answers format for the students to complete. You will award house points for the completion of these homework assignments. This should only take students approximately ten minutes to complete as this is meant for fun. There will be a minimum of 5 questions per homework assignment.

The second way, you may do an RP class. You must be actively participating in this class and awarding points to students who answer questions or participate in discussions. You may also deduct points from students who are breaking the classroom rules IE: being disruptive, failing to do homework, etc.

Professors; you are only required to create 1 lesson for your class. A lot of us came from a site that did 1 lesson per year group and this is fine, however, it is not necessary.

For students, in order to pass and advance at the end of the term, you must participate in at least 3 classes whether it be doing the homework assignment or RPing in class threads. We currently have 7 active Professors. Should we gain more, the requirement to pass will increase to 5 classes in order to pass.

There will be no exam at the end of the term. Passing is based on participation only.

MANDATORY CLASSES (this is just a reference): Astronomy, Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Flying [first years only], Herbology, History of Magic, Potions, Transfiguration, Being Studies (1&2), Careers (6&7)

ELECTIVE CLASSES (this is just a reference): Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, Basic Healing, Care of Magical Creatures, Divination, Advanced Flying, Muggle Studies.

NEWT CLASSES (this is just a reference): Alchemy, Dark Arts Theory, Magical Law, Advanced Healing.

STUDENT INTERNSHIPS: Students in their 7th year may opt to take a full credit internship where they go into the field they wish to work and learn on the job. This will lessen the amount of training they will require after they graduate. EX: Auror training is 3 years, however, if you take an Internship at the Auror office you may have a shortened training period of 2 years instead of 3.

You do not have to participate in all the mandatory classes with the exception of 6th and 7th years Careers so you can have fun playing your character figuring out what they want to do after graduation!
