Maxwell was brought up in a very strict pureblood family, where the on non-purebloods and those who had tainted blood or even blood traitors were looked down on. However Max too a different view from a very early age and didn't like what many of his family thought. This caused a bit of a rift within the family many of them not wanting anything to do with him or just pushing aside. On arriving at Hogwarts it was quite clear that Maxwell wasn't like the rest of the house rather spending time with those who were much different to him. He was well known for making his feeling clear and standing up for the rights of everyone.

It was early morning, or at least Nikki thought that it was early as the others that were in her dorm room were still asleep, they normally were awake before her. She couldn't tell if it was early or not, with no windows she couldn't even look out of a window. One of the things she hated about being in this house. It was the fact that she couldn't look out of a window and also she felt like she was trapped with no way out. She pushed herself up on the bed and rubbed her eyes and put her head on her knees and took a few deep breaths as she tried to calm herself down. She had not had the best of nights sleeps, she found it hard to sleep most days. Today was nothing different, it had been the same dream as it had been for the last seven years always on repeat.

She wanted to get out as she really couldn't talk to those in her dorm room, she couldn't open up to them and she never could, she really wanted Lux but she really didn't want to wake her and those who were in her dorm room. So the only thing she could do was to get out of the common room and see if she could go for a walk. She headed out of the dorm room and into the common room, where it looked like the house-elves had cleaned up and the fire was lit. She could sit by the fire but she really didn't want to fall back to sleep again. She didn't want her dream again where the dog attacked her and it felt like it was happening all over again. It had happened when she was eight years old when she had been in the park and it had come out of nowhere and the dog had left scars up and down her back. She walked out of the common room and headed to go up to the entrance hall and to the grounds where she could walk around the lake.

As she walked out into the entrance hall she could see that the sun had only just begun to rise over the forest. She slightly smiled to herself as she headed to the lake as she liked to smell the lake and the wind on her face. It helped calmed her down and her anxiety. The remainder of that day was not good and the fact that her parents were not as caring as they should have been towards Nikki. She was sure that they blamed her for it, that she had brought it on. She shook her head as she was now beside the lake and started on the path that was around it. She took in the lake water smell and it gave her a sensation that she really couldn't explain. It was just nice to be out and seeing the morning air and being able to walk around with no-one around was Nikki's idea of peace.
