SEBASTIAN BALFOUR
15 June 26th Student Hogwarts / Hufflepuff / 5th year Half Blood Glasgow, Scotland | PERSONALITY: Sebastian Balfour At 15, this young man embodies the spirit of the ocean he loves so much. His passion for surfing reflects his adventurous, free-spirited nature, and he feels most at home riding the waves, where he finds peace and clarity. He's a kind and empathetic soul, always attuned to the feelings of others. His friendliness and outgoing personality make him easy to talk to, and he has a natural ability to put people at ease. Whether he's helping a friend or simply offering a listening ear, he approaches every interaction with genuine warmth and understanding. Loyalty is one of his defining traits, and he is fiercely protective of those he cares about. He believes in standing by his friends through thick and thin, often putting their needs above his own. His work ethic is strong, driven by a desire to make life better for the people around him. Despite his carefree surfer exterior, he's incredibly hardworking, often sacrificing his own time and comfort to ensure others are happy and taken care of. For him, true fulfillment comes from seeing those he loves thrive, and he wouldn't have it any other way. ASPIRATION: Sebastian has thought about his future but at 15 he doesn't have a clear concise idea exactly what he wants to do. He has always thought he might be an Auror or he might be a curse breaker figuring out puzzles and how they are put together. He does want to do something important that could change things for the better and he is working on discovering what that could be. Sebastian | LIKES: -The Ocean (one of his favorite places to be is in the water, it can be the ocean, a sea, a lake or even a pool just being in the water relaxes him.) - Potions Class ( One of his favorite classes there is something about creating potions that he considers artistry.) - Music ( He loves muggle music and loves listening to Vinyl records and a few of his favorite bands are the Ramones, Foo Fighters, Alien Ant Farm, it really depends on his mood.) - Animals ( Sebastian has a passion for the natural world and and affinity with animals.) -Winter Days ( Seemingly a contrast to the fact he loves the ocean and surfing but there is something about those days when the snow is tick and soft and blankets the world in silence) DISLIKES: -Pureblood Purist (Closed minded people who can't see the value in others. It's something he just doesn't understand.) -Large Crowds (Sebastian can be overwhelmed when in super large groups as the noise overwhelms him. ) - Cold Soup (Seriously soups are not meant to be cold ) - Chocolate (There is something about it that he just doesn't care for) - Hypocrites (Say what you mean and mean what you say) |

CHILDHOOD. | Sebastian is the middle child of Nathan and Abigail Balfour born in Glasgow, Scotland, The Balfours are an old magical family but a long time ago they saw the benefits of mixing Magical blood with Muggle blood and where one of the first families to actively start interbreeding and are considered on of the oldest Half Blood Families. Sebastian's childhood was a mix of magical and muggle upbringing as his parents wanted him to experience both worlds with no prejudice. He was brought up understanding how both worlds worked and how they could interact together. As he got older his love of the natural world and the ocean grew and he would spend as much time as he could exploring nature and the world. This might be why he has issues with large crowds. Sebastian loved to learn and would spend days trying different activities from baking with his mom to solving puzzles with his older brothers he would absorb everything with a passion and vigor. One summer his family went to Southern California and this is where Sebastian fell in love with surfing and started learning all he could. As he got older he would spend many of his summers with his extended family all over the world. He enjoyed summers with his Aunt in the Northwest United States camping in the woods. Or when he visited his great Uncle Alphious in Egypt and was able to visit some of the great tombs there. Spending this time with family Sebastian was able to learn a few different languages including Japanese, Latin, and German. Though he is not considered a native speaker he can get by conversationally in all three. |
SCHOOL YEARS. | Sebastians school years were somewhat interesting with being a Half blood and from a family that supported magical and muggle blood intermingling he learned quickly that some people truly believed in Pureblood superiority. During his first year Sebastian stayed in the background , growing up he had not really saw how purebloods really treated others and coming to Hogwarts his eyes were open. In his first year he focused on his studies and tried to be friendly to those he went to school with. Also in his first year is where he discovered a passion for potions. To him creating potions was more art then science like baking, his mother had always taught him that you can follow a recipe but great baking came from the heart. During his Second and Third years at Hogwarts Sebastian really saw how the Pureblood treated those around then that they considered beneath them. He saw the bullying in the halls and between classes. Sebastian had always been told to help those in need and to stand up when he saw people doing the wrong things. He started to try and make sure he was around whenever he was free to keep an eye on his friends and others. He had a reputation for being a person you could go to if the Purebloods were giving you a hard time. As he started his Fourth year at Hogwarts things seemed to almost quiet down and Sebastian was able to focus on school and studying he even started to show an interest in Quidditch as flying was the closest thing to surfing and he tried to figure a way to make a surfboard he had fly which by the end of the year he was able to get it to hover a few feet off the ground. |

Special Situations
Yes, Sebastian does have some anxiety issues as mentioned when dealing large crowds or high noise levels he can start to have panic attacks. He has started to learn some coping mechanisms and when he is with close friends it can help.

Sebastian was one of the first students to be called to the sorting and as he walked up to the chair he wasn't nervous but more curious what house he would be sorted into. His family was such a mix there really isn't one dominant house, for example his father was a Gryffindor and his older brother was a Ravenclaw.
As he sat and the hat was placed on his head he heard a voice almost a whisper in his ear.
“Ah yes let's see what we have here oh another Balfour, your family does tend to be all over the place don't you. Well I have a feeling that you will fit right in with…”
Then loudly throughout the hall the hate yells out.
“HUFFLEPUFF!”
The Hufflepuff table erupts in cheers as Sebastian smiles and joins his house. An older boy with a Prefect Badge shakes his hand and smiles.
“Welcome to Hufflepuff Sebastian.”
Sebastian smiles warmly feeling speechless and not sure what to say he mumbles a quick thanks and then takes a seat watching as the rest of the first years are sorted. Later that night Sebastian sits in his room the warm fresh smell of baking wafting through the dorm reminding him of home filling his mind with comfort as he realized just where he was and what the future held for him
