CHILDHOOD. | Delilah Penelope Stephenson was born on Star wars day (May 4th) 2002. As a child she was a really fun kid, definitely a daddy's girl there was something about being with her father when he was actually around. Truth be told, she complained a lot when they left. She was lonely being an only child and the thought of being alone all the time scared her. If it wasn't for her nana, she would have spent her time with the weird nanny that she didn't like. But she was basically raised by her gran. There was something about her that made her smile all the time. She'd play with her, she'd buy her things that she wouldn't normally get when her parents were at home, she would take her to fun places. And she has a library that she learned to read in. And to top it off, she taught her about both muggle things and magical things. Her exact words were, ‘If you learn what you can about everything, there's nothing you can't get away with.’ She thought it sounded weird, but she was also only four when she told her this, her nana was basically her best friend, and her parents an afterthought. Throughout the years though her parents and her had a few good times. She's been to the quidditch world cup once (only because her parents had to work) and she's gone on plenty of vacations, but she did always feel like an afterthought, once again left with nana. She would take small books with her to read, and she would listen to her parents talking about potential husbands for her. When she was 8 her parents told her that she had a few ideas of potential suitors for her, and had her have ‘playdates’ with them, she just read, the boys were annoyed, her parents were livid. Even at 8 she knew this was a stupid practice, if she was gonna marry someone she was gonna pick on her own. When she was 11 she would finally have her wish and not in the best way. |
SCHOOL YEARS. | When she went to diagon alley with her parents to get her school supplies, (and her first and currently only pet Mr. Biggles) she was told that if she wasn't sorted into Slytherin they would be disappointed, when they sent her off to school though her nana whispered into her ear so they couldn't hear her. ‘You’d be a better Ravenclaw, you're too smart to be a slytherin.' This would also be the last time she saw her parents alive. She had heard from her parents of the brilliance of Hogwarts, her mom (when she was around) would tell her stories, she told her about the sorting hat, the big meals they always had, the boat trip in for the first years, it was like a total history lesson given to her by someone who's spoken maybe three times to her that she actually paid attention to. While her father just gave her a proper hug (just because she didn't like his methods of parenting didn't mean she didn't need a good hug once in a while.) Everything was just as she told, boat trip was a little rocky and the food was good, but when she sent a school owl to her parents saying that she was put into Ravenclaw, she actually got a howler from her mother, her father kind of whispered an i’m sorry for her reaction, it was clear her mother was trying to run her life, her father wanted nothing to do with it. She liked a few classes, potions was too hard for her, but she loved history of magic, she would do notes and share them about for a nice low price of a galleon, the start of her career in ‘theft’ and all was good until April 1st, until she was called into the headmaster’s office and was told that her parents were dead. Nana was in the room, told her that it was a work accident. She was basically cut off by her mom anyway, her father said as much in a letter he said he had to sneak out because her mother didn't want them talking. She went home for the funeral then went back to finish out the school year. The rest of the school time got easier, she got a lot of ‘I'm sorry’ and ‘If you need anything let me knows’ and it annoyed her to the point that even though she hates being alone, she wanted to be that way. She had a few friends, she also just had those days where she hid in bathrooms and cried to let it out. She did slightly better in school throughout the years, but during her time at home she had started to steal. Be it from her own house, to different stores, hell even from people on the streets, it was a coping thing. It also led to her joining the Knockturn alley rats. She's currently in her seventh year taking her NEWTS and thinking about what she wants to do with her life, it's a bit of a mess, and her coping had led her to some less than smart decisions, if she told her father if he was still alive that she had lost her virginity while she was still at school she was sure he would be disappointed. But she was going to do well by him and her nana, and at least pass school with somewhat passing grades.Min. 200 words. |

“Lycorma delectica, otherwise known as the spotted Dragonfly, not known to most around this area because it’s mostly found in Asia, but it was found most recently in the United states for the first time a couple of years ago. Nothing too interesting other than it likes eating crops and it’s quite invasive in that respect.” She stopped taking the notes and looked at the bug, honestly it was one of the tamer ones she’s met with lately, Basically what she had learned about them was how much fruit and walnuts they lived off of. “Of course I find a tame one in Asia.” she said to herself as she looked at everything, just inspecting it.
When she decided to do bugs instead of dragons, her family was more than happy to live with that, but the travel was what they were afraid of, so she always contacted them to let them know she was fine. She went to the little flat that she was renting while she was in China, and it was more than she was willing to pay for more than two weeks, she started a small fire in the mediocre fireplace and had a small conversation with her parents “Everything went fine, I’m going to be back in London next week.”
“We’re glad you’re going to be back in the city, we should have a family meal when you get back. Arabeth is going to bring the kids, they always get so excited when you come home, for some reason they really like your stories about when you travel.” Ellie said, this was probably the one part of the powder she enjoyed, she could expect calls from it. Travelling by Floo though was a pain in the ass. And she knew she was going to have to to get home.
“And I like telling my stories, been thinking about writing a book actually. More about the bugs then the travelling but you know how it is, I’ll be home in a couple days, I’ll be using the network to get home, so you won’t mind if I use the house to pop in right?”
“Of course not, and even though I don’t particular care for it, but make sure the bugs don’t come out in the house.” Tony said.
“Of course not, I wouldn’t let animals out in the house, I’m not an idiot. And they’re all in jars anyway, so I won’t do anything too out of the ordinary and I’ll show the kids the bugs in the jars and how I got them, and keep them there.”
“See you in a couple days. I’ll bring some gifts home for you.”
They left the call, and she started to pack the stuff that she had gotten and what things she had and went to bed for the night, she had one more day of exploration left to do before she went home.
