Dakari, Suco
40 11/15/1970 Professor (Hogwarts - Ghoul Studies) Graduate/Ilvermorny/ Horned Serpent Muggleborn Hogsmeade | PERSONALITY: Dakari is a musician through and through. Rock music runs through his veins instead of blood. Relatively carefree, he relies more on instinct and the flow of the moment than strategy and planning. His dominant presence typically puts him in the spotlight, which he loves. His general rule of thumb is that rules are good and should be followed, until they aren’t. He has never let rules, or the law keep him from what he’s wanted. ASPIRATION: Dakari has been touring actively for the past nineteen years and while he still loves being on stage, he would like to slow down some. He would love to find a balance between performing and teaching. And generally just settle into a calmer pace of life. | LIKES: -Loud Music -Fast Cars (and men) -Movies/Cinema in general -Being the center of attention -Everything to do with the paranormal. DISLIKES: -Fish (alive or dead, especially on his plate) -Dogs (he is afraid of them) -People wasting his time with stupidity or intentional ignorance. -Having to keep the wizarding world secret from his few close muggle friends. -Liars and deliberate deception (unless he's doing it). |
FAMILY MEMBERS. | Father: Matthew Azrael Suco; 70; Lawyer. Mother: Laura Marie Suco; 64; Elementary school teacher. |
CHILDHOOD. | Dakari is the only child of Matthey and Laura Suco, raised in the suburbs of Fort Meade Florida. The son of a lawyer and a schoolteacher, Dakari had pretty much everything he wanted. He had a fairly typical muggle life, at least until he turned six. That was when weird things started happening. Stuff even his parents had could not explain. Once, when he was mad that his father was watching football instead of playing with him, the television set just disappeared. Another time, when he was bitten by fire ants, he had thought their mound had looked like a mini volcano and through his anger a tiny jet of lava came issuing out and followed the ant trail down the side. Other minor things would happen throughout the years, but as usual they were triggered by intense anger. When Dakari was eight, a new neighbor moved in across the street. She was an older woman who lived alone. His mother had taken hm over with a plate of cookies to welcome her to the neighborhood. The minute Dakari stepped into her living room; he knew there was something weird about her. She sat in a recliner in one part of the room knitting or something. That was not so strange, what was strange was the ghost that sat in another recliner near here. She would look at the recliner, smile and go back to her knitting. She and his mom sat and talked for a good hour, the whole time the woman would continue to look at the ghost and then return to her work. His mother got up to leave and Dakari followed, however the woman asked if Dakari would like to earn some extra money doing chores for her. He had said yes and his mother left him with the woman with directions to look both ways before crossing the street to come home. Once his mother left, the woman looked up at him asking if he saw Charles, the ghost in the recliner. Dakari nodded and the woman explained that it was her husband’s ghost, and that only very special people could see them properly. She went on to explain about ghosts and poltergeists, a bit about ghouls and other paranormal things. This sparked Dakari’s interest in the paranormal and from then on, any time she needed something done she could not do for herself (or at least she pretended she could not do for herself) she would have Dakari come over and Dakari would do what she needed and then would be rewarded by a bit more information about the paranormal. Dakari’s love of the paranormal spiraled as grew and he would read every book he could get his hands on about it. |
SCHOOL YEARS. | Dakari fought the nerves that threatened to overtake him as he boarded the train that would take him most of the way to his new school. His trunk was loaded with all the supplies he was told he needed. He found an empty spot and waved out the window to his parents, both of whom seemed as lost and out of place as he did. He frowned, maybe this had been a terrible mistake. Maybe… Maybe just maybe he shouldn’t have come. He sat, looking out the window as two other voices entered the compartment, he was in. He looked up to see two boys, that seemed about his age. One was chattering on to the other, explaining something about a Gordian Knot and houses and stuff he had no idea of. The boys stopped as they noticed him, looked at each other and smiled. The one introduced himself as Deri Ellis , and the other as Diesel Rider . The boy named Deri astutely picked him out as muggleborn, a combination of his clothing and the look of combined fear and confusion that was plastered to his face. After explaining that Diesel was also muggleborn, the two sat with him and Deri started over explaining everything that Ilvermonry was and what they were to expect. Unlike the two who had joined him on the train, Dakari was sorted into the Horned Serpents, but that did not stop the three from becoming inseparable friends with the addition of DJ Montgomery to the mix, the quartet seemed to find themselves in and out of mischief throughout their years at Ilvermorny. They studied hard but played harder. Dakari and Deri both took electives in the paranormal and the more he learned about it, the more fascinated he became with the subject. It was something he decided he wanted to do after School, perhaps he would do something with MACUSA dealing with the paranormal. It was the summer of their fifth year when all their lives took a turn. As the four all lived near or in Fort Meade Florida, they spent their holidays traveling between each other’s homes. One weekend they found themselves drinking and talking about music and the next thing they knew; they were a band. The Twisted D’s. Dakari finished his career at Ilvermorny riding the music bug that had bit them all. They were invincible, and not half bad once everyone had proper instruments. They even were allowed to play at several school events. They had their band, their studies, and most importantly their friendship. Though for Dakari that was a bit marred by his growing romantic interest in Deri, which he of course would not admit to even if he’d been tortured. |
ADULDHOOD. | They’d played for three years together. They weren’t half bad, and Dakari had thought they would just continue to play as they were after graduating. He was wrong. Deri went to MACUSA, DJ went back to her parents to learn the family business. Diesel continued to fan the flames and Dakari… Dakari was lost. He hadn’t been prepared to have his makeshift family scattered. But he decided to ride the waves with Diesel and see where things went. This meant days waiting tables and nights running gigs when they were available. That was the only time he saw DJ, or more importantly to him, Deri. They both made the band a secondary passion, a hobby. But at least they played. Dakari found himself with most nights free and continued his research into the paranormal. He joined a muggle paranormal investigative team and was relatively amused with what they were able to accomplish with the tools they used. He had never had trouble seeing ghosts and poltergeists, but he was a wizard. The rest of the team was not. He eventually left the small investigative company and formed his own company. It did relatively well and he was able to make enough of a living to support himself without the need of the band, but music was his passion. Eventually the band took off and, faced with the options of playing music and continuing to wait tables and chase ghosts, he chose the band. As did everyone else. The band got a place together so they could practice easier. The closeness of the group grew, and they spent hours of their off time just hanging together. They did this for years, and the whole time Dakari’s interest in Deri grew, but his ability to say anything to him… that still eluded him. After a few years the band, up and moved to the UK to follow Diesel’s dream. Unfortunately, the girl Diesel was chasing ghosted him. However, the band had decided to settle down in the UK and found an Estate in Wales. That worked well for the others, only Dakari found it more and more difficult to watch Deri date even casually. It was a year or so after the Twisted D’s moved to Wales that Dakari couldn’t live with the situation any more. He couldn’t bring himself to open up to Deri, so he left the group. No explanation, no warning, just one morning he was gone with a note stating he was going to work on a solo career. And that was the last time he wrote to or spoke with the D’s outside of the couple of times they ran into each other at social engagements. Dakari made a go of a solo career using only the name Dakari. He toured and enjoyed popularity, though granted not nearly the fame as the D’s were claiming. But it was all good, because he had time to forge a second business in paranormal investigations. Granted that was not his main focus, usually booking one or two investigations between gigs depending on the size and venue of the gigs. Traveling to tour gave him the opportunity to book investigations in little known areas. He eventually worked on merging the aspects of both his passions by writing music that had a more ethereal feel. Regardless of his success onstage, Dakari continued to delve into the paranormal. He focused more on the magical side of the veil and less on the investigations chasing the sounds of pipes or air conditioning units that usually arose from dealing with muggles. He would schedule investigations for places he wanted to check out when they coincided with tour dates. This had kept him busy for the last decade or so. His paranormal investigations led him to dealing with some nasty poltergeist over the years. Some that had so severely impacted the lives of those around them that even Muggles had taken notice. Those were the more interesting cases. While he enjoyed both touring and researching the paranormal, the pace of that life was too fast for him to actually find someone to settle down with. Sure, he’d had any number of relationships over the years, but none led to anything serious because he was always on tour, always chasing ghosts, always on the go. This is why Dakari decided to try a career change and do something that required less travel. Sure, he planned to do some local shows where it didn’t interfere with his new career, and possibly continue with investigations over breaks and weekends if they were quick enough, but he decided the best option for his current focus was to teach others what he’d learned through years of paranormal investigations both in the Muggle and Wizarding worlds. |

RP SAMPLE (200 words min.)
Dakari was at home early on a Friday morning when the doorbell rang. Jumping up from watching cartoons on the television he pulled the door open. He froze, there was a woman in very strange outfit standing there with an official looking badge that read MACUSA. He raised an eyebrow before finding his words. “Hang on, I’ll get dad.” He said and turned back into the house, shouting for his father as he closed the door in the woman’s face.
Matthew Suco pulled open the door. “I apologize for…” But the rest of the apology died on his lips as he took in the appearance of the woman in front of him. He shook his head. “Again, I’m sorry, what can I do for you?” He asked.
“Ahh, yes… Mr. Suco. I am Imelda Kroger from the Magical Congress of the United States of America. I would like to speak with you and your wife about your son, Dakari.”
Matthew turned and looked at him as if to ask what now. Dakari, who’d been standing just behind his father blanched and shook his head. “I didn’t do nothing!” He said, trying to think of what the last thing he and his friends had done. Skip stones at the pond… did they hit a duck or something? Magical Congress he’d never heard of that, but it must be important if they showed up looking all official.
Nodding, Matthew stepped back to allow the woman into the home and led her to the kitchen, calling for Laura to join them. Laura made tea for everyone and once settled at the table, looking between her husband and the strange woman.
The woman looked between the two of them, then turned her gaze on Dakari, smiling. She reached out and handed him an envelope before turning to his parents. “Dakari has been slated to attend Ilvermorny School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. That is if you will agree to it. All young witches and wizards are given the opportunity to attend Ilvermorny in order to develop and hone their magical abilities.”
Dakari looked from his mother to his father, both of whom had the same shocked and confused expression. “Wizard?” Dakari questioned, finding his voice before his parents.
The woman raised an eyebrow and flipped to her notes again, searching for something. She paused and sighed. “My apologies. My notes say you had already been contacted about his abilities. But from your reactions, I assume that has not been the case… Let me step back a moment…”
Dakari’s eyes widened as she started to explain about the magical world and how the strange things that seemed to manifest around Dakari from a young age had been real… Magic. Dakari sat as still as a statue, taking in everything she had to say. He was a wizard?! And He was going to a school to learn Magic!!
