DANAE MINAMOTO
16 1ST JULY 2004 STUDENT RAVENCLAW, 6TH YEAR PUREBLOOD SAPPORO, JAPAN | PERSONALITY: The Minamoto family have always prided themselves on being silent protectors, maintaining balance and order without the need for aggression, and Danaë personifies these principles effortlessly. Her innate gentleness makes her a calming presence wherever she goes. Individuals often find comfort in her company, as she has a strong ability to make others feel heard and understood. Danaë believes deeply in the good within everyone, and she rarely judges people based on their actions alone. Instead, she strives to understand the motivations behind their behaviour, always willing to give others the benefit of the doubt. However, her trusting nature and her belief that everyone has goodness within them sometimes makesher naive to the true intentions of others. Danaë is the type of person who sees potential for change even in those who show very little desire to change themselves. While this optimism is one of her greatest strengths, it also leaves her vulnerable to manipulation or disappointment. To those who manage to earn her trust, Danaë is endlessly supportive and understanding. She goes out of her way to help others, sometimes at the expense of her own needs. Her desire to keep the peace and avoid conflict means that she occasionally struggles to assert herself or ask for help when she needs it, preferring to handle her own challenges quietly, often to her own detriment. Staying true to her family's peacekeeping traditions, she often ends up acting, unintentionally, as a mediator in conflicts, focusing and advocating for those who are vulnerable and without a voice. With time, this attribute will grow stronger. ASPIRATION: Her future aspirations are deeply rooted with the values instilled in her by her family’s long history of peacekeeping and protection. She is not born to be a leader, but a servant to preserving harmony in their magical society. Despite being schooled abroad, her principles lie with the Japanese Wizarding Code of Honour, lessons that her parents ensure are well-reminded. She envisions herself as a mediator, someone who could bridge the gap between different factions in the wizarding world and bring resolution to disputes through diplomacy and understanding. The realistic route for her to take to enaction this would be through the Ministry, however, she has not decided on her future profession. Her compassionate nature also involves taking into consideration a career in Healing, a profession with integrity and, more than often, favourable outcomes. She also aspires to one day have a family of her own, where she could pass down the lessons taught to her. She dreams of raising children who, like her, would grow up knowing the importance of using their magic for good, and who would carry on her family's traditions of peacekeeping. At the end of the day, she envisions to live comfortably in an environment where she and her family feel safe. | LIKES: - discipline - cooperation - making a difference - history - compromise DISLIKES: - corruption - violence - the dark arts - dishonesty - fraud |

CHILDHOOD. | Danaë was given an unusual name by her dear mother, a lover of ancient mythology, after the mother of the hero Perseus, symbolising divine love and transcendence. That was truly what she saw in her daughter when she was born, intending her to embody resilience throughout her life, just as the ancient Danaë had done. The Minamoto name, once part of the imperial ranks, had been demoted to the nobility class during the Middle Ages. This transition from royal privilege to noble vassals, however, was embraced by the clan, who saw it as a solemn responsibility to protect the land and its people. For centuries, the Minamoto clan served as guardians of peace, upholding the ancient Japanese Wizarding Code without question or cause. They do not seek power or glory as many other wizarding families do, earning a reputation for their unwavering commitment to justice, honour, and the balance of magical forces in Japan. Although it is not in their nature to harbour any enimity, they naturally developed an aversion to clans such as the notorious Shimada, a conflict ensuing to this day. Danaë and her brothers' early years were filled with warmth and love. She was doted on by her parents, especially her mother, showered with affection. Her parents were particularly keen on ensuring that she grew up with a balance of compassion and resilience, teaching her that true power came not from force, but from understanding and wisdom. These teachings would shape Danaë's personality, growing up to be a reserved and contemplative child, prioritising the good in her surroundings. By the age of seven, Danaë found herself on the back of the majecstic Tengu, being introduced to the grand halls of Mahoutokoro. However, she would not remain in the school for long and after spending several years there and a harrowing incident, her mother thought it best that she continue her education far away from their land under the safety of Hogwarts. Disappointed, the young girl had prepared herself to leave the comforting embrace of her home. |
SCHOOL YEARS. | At the age of eleven, Danaë's life took quite the turn when her family had decided to transfer her from Mahoutokoro to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. The move had initially unsettled her, taking her away from her home and the life she was accustomed to, to an unknown land with different traditions and customs. But she trusted her family’s judgment and embraced the change with an open heart, knowing it was likely for the best. The Sorting Hat had placed her into Ravenclaw, a house know to characterise members by their wit, learning, and wisdom. She found comfort in the warmth and inclusivity of her new house, where she met students from all walks of life, many of whom were also drawn to the ideals of fairness and cooperation, as well as nurturing her curiosity. It didn't take long for Hogwarts to feel like a second home for her, the yearning of her former school slowly dissipating. During the following years of her life at Hogwarts, Danaë had fully adjusted to her life, living in the comfort of her developed social circle with individuals who shared her temperament. She thrived in her studies, developing an affinity for subjects such as Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts, her professors encouraging her to pursue her passions. However, Danaë’s years also brought the realisation that not everyone shared her idealistic view of the world, her trusting nature and beliefs leaving her vulnerable to manipulation by more cynical classmates. She was not immune to being bullied and often these experiences fuelled her to become more guarded, whilst still hoping for things to be different. As the curriculum grew more demanding, especially as she began preparing for her O.W.L.s, she was soon to discover that it was not really the academic pressure that weighed on her the most. She was finding it increasingly difficult to navigate her interpersonal relationships with others, realising that the closer she came to the latter years of her studies, the more competitive and hostile the environment became. She would get caught in conflicts and despite her best efforts to mediate these conflicts, Danaë sometimes found herself caught in the middle, struggling to maintain peace without sacrificing her own beliefs. Danaë is now in her sixth year, having grown considerably from the meek little girl she was when she had first arrived from Mahoutokoro. She still continues to face many challenges but now possesses a stronger resolve to do so. |

RP SAMPLE (200 words min.)
Tae-il took a measured, deep breath as he stepped into the Atrium of the Ministry of Magic. He wasn't surprised that he had made it that far, after seven years spent at Hogwarts, having no doubt whatsoever in his abilities. It was a simple internship, but nonetheless a step forward in the process. If there were any nerves lingering, it was more to do with the anticipation over the mentor he was about to meet. Although he wasn't entirely sure who he had been assigned to, Tae-il had already done his research by retrieving a list of the current Wizengamot members and delving into their backgrounds. There was no way he was going there unprepared.
His mother had a suit-robe set especially tailored for him with a dark tie. His shoes were polished, dark hair neatly slicked back. He glanced down at his wrist watch, the one he had worn for many, many years, as he took long strides across the Atrium and towards the magical elevators. Stepping inside, Tae-il took in the various Ministry workers, judging them silently by the way they looked. Most dressed averagely.. these were likely the civil servants. Some were shabby, Tae-il unable to comprehend how on earth they could present themselves to the Ministry in such a manner - visitors, perhaps? Others were dressed as sharply as himself, Tae-il assuming these were the higher ranking officials, appreciating the care they took in looking after their appearance.
The elevator finally stopped at level ten. Tae-il stepped out, along with a few others who instantly began striding down the marbelled corridor. After a brief pause, he also started to follow them into a hall. He approached one of the desks where a woman clad in dark robes sat, Tae-il looking around, feeling somewhat lost. Despite clearing his throat to grab her attention, she did not look up, continuing to scratch away against a parchment with her quill. "I'm looking for.." In fact, he did not know whom he was looking for, the letter he had received not specifying. "I'm a student from Hogwarts. I'm here for the internship." A prickle of irritation came over him as he was ignored once again, but after what felt like a minute or so, the woman finally set down her quill and looked up at him, eyes narrowing. Standing up, she straightened out her robes. "Follow me."
