PERSONALITY: Cassidy is a tempest in human form—intense, wary, and more than ready to snap if cornered. She may pretend to quiver like a frightened dog, but don’t be fooled; she bites hard. Her upbringing taught her that trust is dangerous and that she is the captain of her own ship—come hell, high water, or the occasional Hogwarts brawl. And though she wields the fierce independence of someone who’s had to grow up fast, her temper tantrums rival those of a toddler who just had their favourite toy taken away, making her someone who is best left alone. Her pride and defiance fuel her confrontational nature. Ruthless, and disrespectful, she dives into conflicts headfirst. She'll poke and prod, winding people up just to see if they’ll throw the first punch, giving her a reason to hit back and then play the “what did I ever do to you?” card with zero shame. She has learned to be selfish, entitled, and a touch compulsive, her petty thefts a means of reclaiming something in a life that has often been outside her control. Her deceptions and mistrust are her armour, behaviours carved into her by a chaotic upbringing and a means to push people away. But for all her tough talk and dramatic entrances, there’s a scrappy charm to Cassidy. She lives by the motto “what doesn’t kill you makes you smarter.” Bold, adventurous, and impossible to discourage, she tackles everything headfirst, sometimes without thinking but always with heart. She might be prickly and rough around the edges, but if you ever need someone to laugh in the face of trouble (or throw the first punch for you), Cassidy's your girl—just don’t ask her to return anything she “borrowed” along the way. ASPIRATION: When Cassidy was younger, she dreamed of becoming a Magizoologist—ironic now, given her disdain for almost everything in the world. Yet, tucked away in the recesses of her mind, that dream stubbornly lingers, even if her grades are in the gutter. If she ever pursued it, though, it wouldn’t be out of a desire to help; no, it would be a selfish dream. She'd rather work with animals than people. She also yearns for the family unit that’s always eluded her, craving stability and human connection in a world that she claims she wants or needs nothing from. | LIKES: - Dark humour - 90s music - The Shrieking Shack - Duelling, Quidditch, and Broom racing - Collecting "rare" weapons - Long, solitary walks - Musicals (she'd never admit it) - Loud parties, crowded spaces - A good brawl DISLIKES: - Philosophy and reason - Children - Pacifism or "fence sitters" - Being touched - Jazz and classical music - Having her picture taken - Blood (ironic) - Her paternal family - Religion |

CHILDHOOD. | Cassidy Sofia Douglas came into the world wrapped in scandal. Born from an affair between Roderick and Sybil Douglas, Cassidy’s early life was knitted together with hardship. Her father turned his back, her siblings met her with cold resentment, and her mother—haunted by the past and barely scraping by—had little love left to give to the child who reminded her of a “lost romance.” So Cassidy was quietly sent to live with her maternal grandmother, almost as if she were a secret swept under the rug, a mistake her father’s family dared not acknowledge, a ghost unmentioned lest she stain the family name. Raised by Rosemary Douglas in the heart of Linlithgow, approximately two hours from her birthplace, Cassidy’s life was steady but stifled. At first, her father visited—every weekend at the start, then every other, then monthly. By the time she turned six, he stopped visiting altogether. It hardly fazed her; she was too young to understand the loss. Her mother’s visits, marked by their own sadness and instability, grew just as rare. Still, Rosemary did her best to fill Cassidy’s life with affection, though Cassidy sensed the burden of being labelled as a consequence of her parents’ mistakes. Unknown to her grandmother, Cassidy harboured a secret of her own—a magic that ran through her veins, a gift from her father’s side, a lineage her grandmother knew nothing about. And so, one day, when Cassidy turned the family dog green in an accidental outburst, Rosemary’s love gave way to horror. Cassidy was met with the searing words: “Devil’s work,” her grandmother’s voice laced with fear. From that day on, Cassidy learned to depend on no one but herself. At only ten, she grew hard, a creature with sharp edges and guarded secrets. Then, one misty morning a couple of months later, an owl arrived with a letter addressed to her, marked from a school called Hogwarts. In its ink, she saw an opportunity: her way out, a place to belong, and the beginning of a life all her own. |
SCHOOL YEARS. | Cassidy first saw Hogwarts as a chance to shed her past and reshape herself. Though guarded, she harboured a quiet hope that if she could blend in, adapt to the rhythms of others, maybe she’d finally find a chosen family—one that wouldn’t turn its back when things grew hard. When the Sorting Hat barely touched her head and announced “Gryffindor!” in a booming voice, it felt both like a liberation and a strange twist of fate. The House of bravery, boldness, and fierce loyalty set her apart from the family that had wanted nothing to do with her. And she quickly found a place among Gryffindors, fierce and fiery, learning to growl louder than her fears. Yet Hogwarts wasn’t the escape she’d hoped. She soon found herself crossing paths with familiar faces. Like something from a hazy dream that she half-remembered—siblings and relatives who looked at her with barely concealed disdain. She kept her distance, but whispers began circulating. Her new friends, pureblooded and polished, started to pull away. Soon, Cassidy was alone again, a familiar ache settling into her bones. In response, Cassidy let the mask fall. The cheerful, sociable persona she’d created began to crumble, revealing someone rougher, someone unafraid of consequences. Her grades slipped, and her bad habits stacked up. If she wasn’t hiding in the Gryffindor Quidditch stands with a cigarette in hand, she was picking fights in corridors or spending weekends in detention. Each act of rebellion was a silent plea for help, one that no one seemed to hear. And if they did hear, they were ignoring her. Typical, really. Now, in her fifth year, Cassidy’s once-bright hopes for the future have dimmed. She’s thought about leaving Hogwarts entirely, disappearing to find a family that could accept her—her real self. But for now, she stays, biding her time, carrying on with the only path she knows. Each bad decision is a shield, keeping others at arm's length, even as she dreams of the day she’ll finally break free. |

Zuri felt trapped, her life locked in an endless loop: work, bar, drink until oblivion, wake, repeat. Her job was her heartbeat—photography had always been her deepest passion—but lately, it felt like she was moving in place. She wanted more. She needed to be recognized, not just as any photographer but as the photographer. Some might’ve called her hungry, maybe even desperate, but she’d shrug them off. That ambition was what brought her here, to the bustling, cobblestone maze of Diagon Alley, camera at the ready, scanning the crowds for that “it” factor.
What she wanted was someone magnetic, someone whose style could match her own flair, with a story that would leap off the pages of Witch Weekly. Someone who could launch her from a behind-the-scenes photographer to an editor mingling with the high society she craved. As she watched, her eyes landed on someone with that unmistakable spark. Without a moment's hesitation, Zuri clicked into motion, heels tapping against the cobbles in perfect rhythm.
When she reached them, Zuri extended her hand, nails immaculate, and smiled with the ease of someone who already knew she was about to make an impression, or at least attempt to make one. “Hi. Zuri Caldwell,” she said, voice smooth as honey. “I’m a photographer for Witch Weekly. Could I take your photograph for an upcoming piece? Maybe ask a few questions?”
