Gawain EDGar, BONES
15 Feb 14 STUDENT RAVENCLAW, 5th YEAR PUREBLOOD Hogsmeade | PERSONALITY: Gawain Bones is a vibrant and extroverted young man, known for his infectious laughter and playful charm and quick retorts. His quick wit and humor make him the life of any gathering, effortlessly drawing friends into his lively antics. Gawain has a natural gift for making people smile, often lightening the mood with clever jokes or harmless pranks. He thrives on adventure and spontaneity, always eager to embark on new quests, whether that means joining a Quidditch match or exploring uncharted parts of the Forbidden Forest. His spirited enthusiasm for life encourages those around him to embrace joy and seek out new experiences. Beneath his playful exterior lies a deeply empathetic soul. Gawain possesses a genuine concern for others, always willing to lend a listening ear or a comforting presence. He creates a safe space for his friends, ensuring they feel valued and understood. His warm heart drives him to support others, and he often goes out of his way to help those in need. Whether it's offering advice during tough times or simply being there for a friend in distress, Gawain is the one people turn to for support and understanding. Curiosity fuels Gawain's adventurous spirit, as he constantly seeks to learn more about the world around him. He has a keen interest in nature and magical creatures, often spending time outdoors to observe and connect with them. His love for knowledge is evident in his studies, particularly in subjects like Herbology, Transfiguration, and Care of Magical Creatures. Gawain approaches his academic pursuits with the same enthusiasm he applies to his adventures, viewing learning as another exciting journey to undertake. However, his playful nature and desire to help others sometimes lead to a struggle with balance. Gawain can become so engrossed in making others happy or seeking out new adventures that he takes on more than he can handle. This tendency stems from his deep-rooted desire to be there for his friends and create memorable experiences. ASPIRATION: Gawain Bones' aspirations are deeply rooted in his academic curiosity and desire to push the boundaries of magical knowledge. He dreams of becoming a leading expert in the field of Magizoology, not only to study magical creatures but also to uncover new, groundbreaking insights about their behavior, biology, and magical properties. His fascination lies in understanding the magical world through the lens of scientific discovery, and he hopes to contribute research that will be used for generations of wizards to come. One of his specific goals is to make discoveries that challenge the current magical theories surrounding creatures and their abilities. Gawain envisions himself leading research expeditions to uncover previously unknown species or magical phenomena tied to creature behavior. Gawain also aims to take on a leadership role in the academic community. He dreams of one day holding a position at Hogwarts as a professor or head of a research department. He envisions creating programs where students can engage with hands-on magical research from an early age, bridging the gap between theoretical study and real-world application. He wants to inspire the next generation of students to pursue their own academic interests with the same curiosity and passion that drives him. At his core, Gawain is motivated by a thirst for knowledge and the belief that the magical world has only scratched the surface of its potential. His ultimate goal is to leave behind a legacy of academic contributions, whether through published works, discoveries, or mentorship, ensuring that his passion for learning and discovery will continue to inspire wizards long after he’s gone. | LIKES: -Quidditch: Gawain loves the thrill of flying and the excitement of being part of a team, often spending his weekends playing or watching matches. - The Natural World: His mother, a known Magizoologist, had imparted in him a love for the natural world and its magic. Both magical creatures and plants. - Socializing with Friends: He thrives in social settings, valuing the time spent with friends and the laughter they share, often hosting study sessions or gatherings. - Helping Others: Gawain finds fulfillment in lending a hand to those in need, whether it’s tutoring classmates or volunteering for causes that protect magical creatures. - Transfiguration: He loves the idea of transfiguration and being able to change and affect the world around him through meticulous work. DISLIKES: - Complacency and Apathy: One of his biggest frustrations is when people accept things as they are, without questioning or striving for improvement. Gawain believes in pushing boundaries, learning more, and growing constantly. Seeing others settle for less or give up on their potential grates on him. - Prejudice: His family are known enemies of Dark Magic as well as supporters of the Order. Little wonder he inherited it. - Superficial Friendships: Gawain dislikes shallow, surface-level relationships. He finds it exhausting to engage with people who are only interested in appearances or popularity, preferring to spend his time with those who are authentic and have more depth to their character. - Dark Arts: Having lost family to the Dark Arts, he isn't one to practice it, finding it repulsive. - Liquor: He dislikes the taste. |

CHILDHOOD. | Gawain was born to a legacy of great and talented witches. Indeed, his paternal grandparents were known to be implacable wizards of an old, family line, yet also ones that bravely defied Dark Magic and its champions, including Lord Voldemort. While his mother's line were known academics and people who have contributed much to international magical cooperation and magical theory. His grandparents weren't formally in the Order, though they might as well have been with their vocal support of the Order of the Phoenix and Dumbledore, as well as them volunteering to house Order Members being hunted by Death Eaters. Gawain was a bright young boy when he was born, a voracious reader and always giving his parents trouble for his penchant to reach places he shouldn't, his mother told his father that he was bound to be a handful. Of course, his grandparents and parents doted on him, despite him looking like the splitting image of their daughter in law rather than their son. This abundance of attention and love made him crave to return the same sort of affection he received to others. He never had trouble making friends, as he's the type to approach people first to "adopt" them into his friendship. Paired with a naturally curious mind, it was little wonder he was the pride and joy of the Bones Household. The nature of his mother and father's job, however, meant that they moved around a lot. His mother was a respected academic who published many treatises and position papers on Veela Rights, Magical History, as well as Ancient Runes and Creature Languages, whilst his father was a dashing Cursebreaker and one of the best in his fields when it came to developing counter curses to allow them to enter even the most treacherous old ruins. This never frustrated Gawain, as he had a rather effortless time developing friendship with kids in wherever region his parents are assigned to, and his parents did their best never to neglect him. Indeed, his mother and father spent many nights seating him at their knees and quizzing him on magical trivia. Perhaps this contributed to his insatiable thirst for knowledge, as well as the rather early manifestation of his magic, such as when he made roses bloom on his birthday and gave them to his parents. |
SCHOOL YEARS. | His father, working a fulfilling, but dangerous career, unfortunately perished during one of his assignments in Egypt, where a Sphinx killed him. This event shattered Irene, but given that he was Gawain's only living relative now, she had to be strong. Fortunately, this allowed her to take a desk job, living off the sale of her published books as well as her husband's significant wealth. She purchased a cottage in Hogsmeade and did her writing there, which meant that Ethan attended Hogwarts. The hat sorted him into Ravenclaw almost immediately, and it definitely did not make a wrong decision, as Ethan's curiosity about magic seemed to expand even more. He threw himself with a fervor to his studies and made many friends, always being the first one to extend a hand in friendship, uncaring about blood status or other things his peer seemed to care about. It seemed that his father's death did not affect his rather open personality, rather, it enhanced it, as it gave him an appreciation to life unseen before His father's death gave him the inclination to study Magical Creatures and its care, as he wished to understand these creatures further in order to understand what to do in order to prevent other young boys from losing loved ones to them. His compassion and desire to learn was never darkened by the event, to the pride of his mother, who called him his father's greatest gift to her. Of course, he wasn't exactly model student, and though he tirelessly studied, his curiosity also got himself to trouble as he explored every nook and cranny he could find in Hogwarts, especially those restricted to him. He had a reputation for convoluted pranks and plots that was meant to get him access to the Restricted Section of the library, or the Forbidden Forest. Indeed, aside from human friends, it seemed that he befriended creatures, too, with him in particular being interested with the Thestral Herd found in Hogwarts. Yet despite all this, he never neglected his studies and his friends, and if not in these places, you'd see him in the library or the common room, reading. |

RP SAMPLE (200 words min.)
Miaoyu's exams were going swimmingly well, despite herself.
She just finished with her written portion for charms, and while she was less than confident with her answers, she was more than sure her practical spellwork would have made up for it. Granted, she all but gave up on Arithmancy and Astronomy, (Both subjects she was quite hopeless at.) but Care of Magical Creatures, Defense Against the Dark Arts, and Transfigurations were something she was sure she aced. It made her feel happy, satisfied, and she was in an actual good mob judging by the way she skipped along the halls.
It almost made her forget about the incident a week ago.
It was supposed to be a nice week, she intended to spend it with her boyfriend, Tae-Il, doing naught but acting like the perfect girlfriend. She had it all planned out. She was going to take him to Hogsmeade, and she was going to make sure he had a good time. Her oppa had always been so uptight, so serious, and that's what she loved about him. He was destined for success, he was bred in a way that men should have been raised, and out of all the men in Hogwarts, Miaoyu knew he was the best. Her father and grandfather approved of her relationship with Tae-il, and most of all, her mother acknowledged her, for once, she wasn't called mannish, or graceless. She was beautiful and wise. All because of oppa. She did think the world of him, and the thought of being beside him, helping him achieve his goals using her own skills....
The thought made her giggle on her own, a smile creeping on her lips.
However, being such a perfect scion of the Chae meant other...students had ideas about him. Whether it was conversing with him for far too long than was acceptable in her eyes, or maybe even being far so happy in her boyfriend's company made the familiar flame in Miaoyu's belly flare up. She knew of women like that, bac in her hometown such harlots tried to seduce pureblooded men, steal them from their family or the women in their lives. Lots tried with her father, and even more with her grandfather, but the women of the Lu were ferocious women who knew how to defend their own.
So she took her mother's lessons to heart and defended what she knew was hers. granted she did in a way that she knew she excelled at.
It wasn't her fault the girl's skill in martial magic was so subpar that she couldn't deflect a simple Burning Hex aimed at her face.
Of course, the girl did not sustain lasting injuries...save for an ugly scar that she'd have a hard time getting rid of. The burn mark where her hex hit. Of course, Tae-il was outraged by this, as kind as he was. But Miaoyu refused to be made a fool of. The woman crossed her by acting as she did with someone she was fully aware was hers. However she reacted was in response to that.
But that was all in the past, of course. He knew that Tae-il would never hold that against her. Besides, she did it for him, did she not?
Finally finding Tae-il, the short woman's face lit up in a bright smile as she ran towards him. "Oppa!" Called out Miaoyu, and as she reached him, she immediately reached over to hold his hand, trying to stand on her tip toes to kiss the man she loved on the cheek. "I was looking for you," She whined, pouting. Though only then did she notice the look on his face, which made her furrow her brows. Oppa never left their common room without being fully groomed.
"Is everything okay, Tae-il-ssi?" She asked, looking up at him as she reached out with both hand to try and cling onto his hand.
