15 22 May STUDENT 5TH YEAR RAVENCLAW HALFBLOOD Easingwold, York | PERSONALITY: Nellie is pretty much the picture of what a stereotypical girl would be like. She loves ballet and wearing pink and sparkles. She loves Unicorns and cupcakes and pretty things. She's kind to those around her and isn't violent. She doesn't think she even has the capacity to be mean. However, she's smart. She' good at reading a room and good at reading people. She isn't afraid to stand up for herself despite her delicate exterior & appearance. Nellie likes learning and does well in her classes. She loves Care of Magical Creatures, Divination, and Astronomy the most, however she tries her best in all of them and has a good work ethic. She is a great friend and is fiercely loyal and devoted to those who have shown her the same kind of love. Nellie isn't shy and is happy to make new friends. She's inexperienced romantically but starting to feel more interested in dating as of this year. Watch out though - Nellie isn't always sunshine and rainbows and puppies. The Ravenclaw girl has a temper (mostly when she's hungry) and isn't afraid to speak her mind. She also has anxiety and sometimes lets her worries hold her back from things she might enjoy. ASPIRATION: Since she's only 15, Nellie isn't sure what she wants to do with her life yet. In a perfect world she'd be able to combine both her love of Ballet with her love for animals. Maybe she'll choreograph the first ever Unicorn Ballet... it worked so well with trolls already, right? CHILDHOOD. | Like the rest of her siblings, Nellie was born in the small market town of Easingwold in Yorkshire, England. She loved living in a small town and growing up away from the hustle and bustle of the city, which always made her anxious. Being the second oldest, Nellie found it easy to play with both her older and younger siblings, however, she sometimes got annoyed when the younger ones couldn't keep up with whatever she wanted to do, and admittingly, would favor time with her older sister who could challenge her to try more things, than time spent with her younger siblings, who she felt were somewhat boring in comparison. Obviously those feelings changed as they all grew up. Nellie was that kid who cried a lot. And not only about certain things. She cried at everything. She didn't throw big tantrums, however, she was definitely always emotional. It was her over emotional nature that first prompted her parents to talk to healers at St. Mungos about her mental state when she was 5 years old. After some study, she was diagnosed with Generalized Anxiety Disorder and has been learning to live with it ever sense. Overall, Nellie loved her childhood and loved her family. She felt like her early years were pretty good in the grand scheme of things, and she looks back of them fondly. |
SCHOOL YEARS. | Nellie was the second child out of her siblings to attend Hogwarts. Her older sister was just a year above her, so she was glad to at least have someone that she knew and could ask for help from if she needed it. Her anxiety had been through the roof on the Hogwarts Express and especially so as she crossed the lake in those rickety looking boats that all the first years were directed to get into. She felt her knees quaking and she had to hold herself back from tears for most of the ride over. The wait to get sorted felt like eternity, however, with her last name being so early in the alphabet she was one of the first called. Nellie wasn't surprised to be sorted into Ravenclaw - her dad was a Ravenclaw and he had always told her that she took after him. After the first few days, once she had gotten used to her new routine, she found her anxiety starting to fade to the back of her mind and started to feel so much more at home within the castle walls. Over the next few years, Nellie found herself favoring certain subjects over others. She always loved working with creatures, and was thrilled to be able to start the class in her 3rd year. It quickly became her favorite subject. She also loved the addition of Divination to her schedule. Besides those she loved classes that were more study based and less hands-on. History of Magic, Ancient Runes, and Astronomy were some of her additional favorites. Now, midway through her 5th year, Nellie is thrilled to be witnessing the Tournament and is excited to get to know new people from around the world. She's very interested in other cultures and languages and is eager to see what she can learn from the visiting students. |

Special Situations
Nellie has had Generalized Anxiety Disorder since she was a little kid. She used to be shy around new people and get scared going to new places. It was a lot worse when she was younger and she'd find herself paralyzed by anxiety attacks. However through years of working with healers at St. Mungos she has developed coping mechanisms, mostly breathing techniques and journaling. Nellie journals everyday and whenever she feels anxious she works through it in her journal.
She's found that by putting her worries on paper she has an easier time explaining to her brain why they aren't very valid and it's easier to let go of them after proving that they shouldn't hold as much weight as her mind wants them to. It's not a fail proof method, and sometimes the Ravenclaw does still find herself needing to step out of lessons or events for a few minutes to collect herself in private. But she never makes a scene out of her feelings and is really good at pretending that nothing is wrong.

Did he really just ask if she was mad at him? Claudia wasn’t a physically violent person, but she had never wanted to punch Simon in the face as hard as she could more than she did right now. What did he expect her to say? Did he really need a reminder that he had convinced her to let her guard down and that he promised that he would never hurt her just to turn around and start dating someone else the same summer? Sure, she hadn’t made it easy on him either… Keeping Nate around probably wasn’t the best idea. But she had been so conflicted and she didn’t want to give up either of her friends. Besides Simon and Nate, and occasionally Sofia, but not so much recently… she didn’t have any friends.
“Now why on Earth would I be mad at you? We’re the best of friends aren't we? Perfect relationship.” she didn’t really want to keep this sarcastic attitude up, it was exhausting. But she couldn’t let herself say anything else either. She couldn’t admit that yes, she was furious at him. That she was jealous and hurt. Did he want her to just come out and say that she had fallen in love with him and then had her heart broken by him? That sure as hell wasn’t going to happen. She’d rather relive the fight she just had with Nate than tell him that.
