Having a child is a permanent fixture in one's life and cannot be undone therefore there are some specific rules and guidelines for characters having children on INH. This does not include playable characters, just characters born to or adopted by characters in play. IE: Sebastien Dumas is the son of Lucien Dumas and was adopted by Emmy but is he an active player on site therefore does not need to be on the registry but will be listed as a sibling should his parents have another child.

When registering, both members involved must fill out the code unless there is only one parent involved. If you are using a surrogate, the surrogate must also fill out the code specifying their role.

THE RULES

1. Characters cannot get pregnant or have a child unless they are of legal age.

- Legal age in the HP world is 17 therefore no character under the age of 17 may be portrayed as pregnant or fathering a child. We are aware that it can happen in real life but we will not be supporting it on INH.

2.  All children born or adopted must be registered by their parents.

- Adoption is permitted. Characters are permitted to adopt other characters such as the case of Emmy and Lucien adopting Beauregard.

3. All births and adoptions are permanent and you cannot change your mind about these occurrences. Consider carefully whether your character will have a child or adopt one.

4. Surrogacy is permitted. Characters may volunteer to be a surrogate for other characters onsite.

5. Pregnant characters cannot be put into situations that might jeopardize their baby's life. For example; dueling, battling, fighting, drinking, smoking etc.

6. Abortion and miscarriage will not be permitted as these could be triggering to people. We know these can happen in real life but we are not supporting them on INH.

7. Your character can be a single parent but the other parent involved (if there is one on-site) has to fill out the code as well and state that they are unaware of the child. Filling out the code as the parent who does not know of the child ensures that the writer has agreed to this plot.
