Odaiba Fireworks Festival
Students of Mahoutokoro are fortune enough to enjoy a variety of festivals during their time at school. An excuse to get off the island and take a break from their studies. During the entire month of December, the Odaiba Firework Festival runs every Saturday evening. A miraculous display of fireworks is set off in the sky between Odaiba and the Rainbow Bridge. It’s a magical night out for students and a great break from the stresses of school. Of course, permission forms from parents and guardians have to be signed to attend any off school events but since Mahoutokoro is typically safe from most disasters, it’s not a worry for parents of students attending the quaint school.

Attendees can view from fireworks from the Decks Shopping Center, Toyosu Gururi Park or even take a cruise to experience it from the water. It’s a spectacular display of lights!

Engagement Announcement
Those purebloods have done it again. Analise Oleander-Mei, daughter of one of those prominent, pureblood families, has become engaged to some muggleborn Northbow boy. Not quite sure what game the Oleander-Mei’s are playing but they certainly can’t claim to be one of the top tier pureblood families if they are willing marrying their kids off to muggleborns with money. Money doesn’t change your blood but hopefully the two kids are happy with their impending nuptuals. Congratulations Analise and Dorian.

International Duelling Competition
The Department Magical Co-Operation has announced an International Duelling Competition. The competition will be held at the Wizarding School of Uagadou. Visiting duellers will have a chance to tour the ancient school prior to or after their duels and experience the culture and lifestyles in the Mountains of the Moon region in Eastern Africa. Deadline to get duelling applications in are Dec 30, 2018. Duelling begins on Jan 2, 2019.

Beat the Winter Blues Winter Festival
Winter can be such a sorrowful time of year. The weather gets colder and colder. They days get shorter and shorter. The skies are grey, the sun sets earlier leaving the world in darkness longer. It's not easy to buddle up and go outside for some fresh air. Even the kids get crabby because they are cooped up for days at a time when the weather gets too cold to enjoy the outdoor activities.

Fear not, Wizarding World! Something great is coming your way!

The week of February 10th to February 17 there will be a winter festival located in Hogsmeade for all to enjoy. The festival will include snowman building contests, tobogganing, ice skating, sleigh rides, hot chocolate, hot apple cider and various other activities throughout the week.

On February 14th (Valentine's Day) Madame Puddifoot's will be hosting a speed dating event formal the lonely singles of the Wizarding World.

The festival will wrap up with a romantic ball on February 16th at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. All are invited to attend and there will be a crowning of Sweetheart's King and Queen!

International Duelling Competition Updates
The first round of the International Duelling Competition has commenced with some surprising results. Or, perhaps not so surprising. There were some duellers on the roster that had many of us here at the Daily Prophet wondering just why they were present. Brandy Piper-Danvers, come on woman! A number of us went to school with you and you are no dueller. Your niece, however, great job, Lindsey Talbot! For those of you not following the competition, Auror Lindsey Talbot wiped the floor with her Auntie Brandy at the competition and we wonder if Brandy’s brain is too fried to even be offended...

Surprisingly, Hogwarts under fourteen group did not fair so well. Both Cassidy Douglas and Alex Whitehall were knocked out of the competition by Durmstrang’s representative Leander Haven and Mahoutokoro’s representative Masashi Ito. Great job, lads! So much for girl power!

It was not so much a surprise to find Cullen McIntyre, two time Hogsmeade Festival Champion, coming out on top during his duel and unfortunately, Quinn Stone didn’t make it to the arena therefore declaring Jeong-Ah Hwang the winner by default! A lot of people had their money on old Bea, but the broad let us down! Perhaps it’s the cataracts or brittle bones, love!


Congratulations to the first round of winners and best of luck in the next round! For those of you disqualified, better luck next time!

Ministry and Hogwarts Conspiracies
The Ministry of Magic. Our governing body. The place where we should seek refuge from troubles and guidance in life. Except our Ministry of Magic seems quiet these days. What is going on behind those stoic pillars of the Wizarding World? Are our fearless leaders working on some grand scheme to make our lives better and allow the people of Britain to live in peace without fear? Fear is still very much a part of the lives of all those who were rescued from the prison. No one is doing well and we’re coming up onto the anniversary of the prison burning to the ground. What has been done for these survivors?

Yes. Samantha and Lavinia have worked hard with the new Department of Magical Education, the board of governors of Hogwarts and the Headmaster and Deputy Headmistress to put in better safety measures to protect the students and frequent audits of the school but is that enough? We know Hogwarts hired counsellors to help the affected overcome their trauma, but are they helping? What is really going on at Hogwarts and within the Ministry of Magic?

And what happened to Kingsley Eggleston and Nathaniel Kingsley? No one has heard from Eggleston in months and only a few choice people have heard from Kingsley in almost a year...

One wonders and questions what these major factions in our world are doing these days because it seems like nothing.

Winter Festival
This was the first year in which Hogsmeade had a Winter Festival and while it did not go over as well as their summer festival, it was still a decent hit and a good way to spend some time outdoors and getting those feel good memories of winter back with ice skating, sliding, snowman making and yummy hot chocolate to keep you warm in the chilly February cold.

Couples enjoyed the snow such as Melinda Evergreen and Gino Amadori who were caught out meandering the streets as the snow fell, and did we over heard some important feelings being discussed? Well, February is the love month. We won’t tell if you won’t tell! And wasn’t there a sweet mother-son reunion for the Corner boy and his mummy dearest? I suppose the cold weather brings families and loved ones together. They were cute and cozy on the sleigh ride with some hot chocolate.

And let’s not forget about the Auction house. While the summer auction brings in a lot of knuts and excitement, this winter one was rather quiet, almost forgotten. But a small chunk of change was raised (50 knuts) to add to the St. Mungo’s Cure Foundation.

Overall, it was a successful little event and everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves as they mingled on the streets of Hogsmeade.

Speed Dating
Love was in the air on Valentine’s Day as Madam Puddifoot’s treated the Wizarding World to it’s very own Speed Dating Session. This is typically something that happens in the muggle world but with the plethora of single people in our world too, why shouldn’t we try it? And honestly, Madam Puddifoot employees do say it was not as well received as it might have been, though they did catch two youngsters spending their ten minutes snogging so someone must have found love, right?

Each pair was given ten minutes to get to know each other and see if sparks flew or not. Not everyone was going to be successful in this but here’s hoping some interests were built enough to catch digits and maybe go for a more date-like excursion? I’ve talked to a number of the daters and here’s what some of them had to say:

“It did not go very well at all. A made a couple of friends (maybe just one), and that's it. No one seemed too interested in me, and they weren't interesting either. I don't think I will be meeting any of them again.” - Takeru Yamada

Sweetheart’s Ball
Two years ago, Hogwarts hosted a Sweetheart’s Ball on Valentine’s Day and it was met with disaster. If no one recalls, someone spiked the punch with a love potion and the most absurd pairings were caught sucking face in the most disgusting manner! I thought I was going to barf. The ball was immediately shut down as soon as Professors recognized the dilemma and everyone in attendance was questioned. No one knows who spiked the punch. I’m guessing it was Peeves.

The Hogwarts administration decided in two years the world had changed drastically and the success of other balls encouraged them to host a second Sweetheart’s Ball and this time, the chaos was minimal.

Everyone came dressed in their Valentine’s best. Couples found each other, first kisses happened and the youthfully naive and in love Jeong-Ah Hwang and Gemini Enigma were crowned Sweetheart’s Ball King and Queen. They were simply dazzling in their ball attire, certainly fit for a King and Queen and with the elegance and grace to match unlike the runners up; Lucas Belmonte and Nikki Belanger who were caught in the thick of a Niffler on the premise alongside Ah-Ree Yong.

Aside from that mishap, the ball progressed nicely into the evening with great food, excellent music and no catastrophes.

International Duelling Competition Continues
Another spectacular round of the International Duelling Competition has commenced!

There are still no defined winners of the competition in the 15 to 18 group and the adult group but the numbers are dwindling and there are only six duellers left to show their worth. Things at Uagadou are getting intense as everyone is on high alert, especially after the unexpected re-match between young Leander Haven and Masashi Ito. Someone is not a good sport and we blame those at Durmstrang for not teaching it’s students to accept defeat.

Hopefully, the rest of the duellers take their losses a little better than the Haven child. We’re looking forward to the next round of exciting matches featuring Auror, Lindsey Talbot against Hogwart’s Librarian Finn O’Brien. I hope he throws books at her! Those corners would hurt, ouch!

Attack in London
The Ministry is trying to keep this on the down low but I have my ways of finding things out. Blaming a gas leak to shield muggles from the truth, but it seems there’s been a huge magical attack on the outskirts of London in recent days. Origins of this attack are unknown.

Witness reports seeing two identical women fighting it out in the middle of a small muggle neighbourhood. Large explosions were heard, fires engulfed vehicles, homes and multiple trees. Ministry Officials arrived on the scene shortly after things started to dispute – we really need a faster response time guys! - and have been working hard to obliviate any muggles in the vicinity who might have witnessed the attack.

The identity of the two witches – if they even are female – are unknown but investigation lead by Carman Jones is underway to identify and bring in these disturbers of the peace.



Edwin Haven - 38 years old
EDWIN HAVEN – 38 years old
Edwin was found brutally murdered by his wife late one evening outside their family home. Edna reports she had been at church for the midnight mass.

“Sometimes I like to go for the peaceful environment and Edwin always picks me up after it’s over but tonight he wasn’t there. I knew immediately that something was wrong and called a neighbour to bring me home. When I arrived home, all the lights were on in our farmhouse but Edwin was no where to be found. I was very concerned for his wellbeing.”

Edna admits to going out to the barn first to check for her husband there.

“Edwin wasn’t in the barn but the animals were in a frenzy. It took me thirty minutes to settle them before I found Edwin’s body outside near the garden. Blood was everywhere! I called emergency services immediately but I knew he was already gone.”

Edwin is survived by his wife, Edna, and their son, Leander Haven. Funeral services will be held this coming Saturday, May 4, 2019 at the Castle Combe Chapel in Castle Combe, England at 1pm. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate donations to the Castle Combe Christian’s Home which helped them to discover and adopt their only child.

Headmaster Dunamis and Headmistress Ambroise would like to extend a huge thank you to all the support received from Ministry Officials, Business Owners and various other Professionals for their attendance in the career fair held at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. While turn out was small, a number of students walked away with bright futures in store for them.

"Professor Amadori has been such a wonderful help in guiding me to achieve my dreams of a career in musical theatre. Without him, I wouldn't have even known about The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Arts. And I have an audition next week!" - Cole McPhee, 7th Year

And what's an event without a little bit of family drama, hmm? Seems the Kingsley clan was in fine form rough housing with one another that resulted in Professor Aurinko having to step in.




Another round of duels has ended with another champion named. One Finn O'Brien coming out on top for the over eighteen group of duellers. Congratulations are definitely in order for the young Irishman!

With one duel left, it looks like it will be Cullen McIntyre VS Kazunori Zhang for a chance to be named the top in their division and give Hogwarts the recognition it deserves as a school after everything that has happened as of late. Good luck to you both, gentleman! May the best dueller win!




Whispers in the dark have suggested there has once more been an increase in undetected deaths of magical and muggle beings. There has been very little in the news regarding these deaths. A few deaths reported here and there but nothing suspicious. However, if rumours are to believed, these deaths that are reported are only a small portion of a bigger problem facing both worlds and the Ministry has not made the public aware of the possibility of danger lurking around the corners...and why would they? Things are peaceful and one Samantha Piper-Danvers would have the world believe her the best person for the job, but is she really? We're still debating that in the Editor's Office and encourage the rest of your to rethink your decision about who you selected for office.

As the duelling competition came to a close, there was only one question to be asked. McIntyre or Zhang? McIntyre is the favoured as a three time champion of the Hogsmeade duels but to our surprise, Zhang came out on top with a surprise hit that knocked McIntyre out before he could defend himself. Too bad his winning streak ended. Congratulations to Kazunori Zhang of Hogwarts for being the Intermediate Level International Duelling Champion!

It’s been a year since Aurors and Vigilante’s stormed what is now known as the Accona Desert and rescued hundreds of our brothers and sisters from shackles, prison cells and torture.

On June 3, 2019, the Ministry of Magic invited all the families of those who lost their lives, and the victims of the desert’s horrors to share in a memorial service to honor the dead and survivors of such a horrific event to face our world. Many tears were shed as performers such as Cole McPhee, The Twisted D’s and Emrys Hart graced the stage with beautiful melodies.

A quiet service, one of silent reflection and camaraderie as the world gathered in memory but it was not without its beautiful words and speeches.





On June 21, 2019, Hogwarts hosted a Summer Solstice Ball where the theme of the evening was Hawaiian in honor of welcoming the long summer months and vacation season for those in the educational system. Many wild outfits were worn and people were in their brightest moods. Refreshments were served in pineapple and coconut cups and an assortment of festive goodies were provided by the charming house elves of Hogwarts.

As with the new tradition, Hogwarts announced the Summer Solstice King and Queen: Marcus Wolf and Ah-Ree Yong. Congratulations to the adorable couple. May your summer be filled with blossoming romance.

Reports had come in from the Italian Ministry that there had been mysterious figures going in and out of the former Cremation desert prison. Multiples would go into the prison but only two would ever come out again. Screams and cries could be heard by any who dared draw close enough to the gravesite. Perhaps it's ghosts of those lost or perhaps it's something worse.

This reporter went to the scene of things and interviewed some of the Aurors who were investigating. There were definitely bodies found in the prison, the scent of death was evident. Among the dead, Cecily Patton from Devonshire, daughter of Albert Patton - Department of Transportation. While Albert denies his family had any involvement with the Cremation, there's been rumblings of a family dispute that sent poor Cecily on her own. Albert says he and his wife Patricia have not heard from Cecily in many years, long before the events of 2018.

More to come as the investigation continues.





Recently, the Daily Prophet received an interesting, heartfelt letter from one Nathaniel Kingsley that was requested be shared.

Fellow Witches and Wizards,

Two years ago, you all elected me as Senior Undersecretary for the Ministry of Magic. It was an honor and privilege to have won such an esteemed position and to have the world place such trust in a man who preferred the company of dusty books and shadows in the basement. The Department of Mysteries had been my home for many years, I loved my job but thought I could do more to help our world strive for greatness.

What I did was betray your trust. I developed a plan; an educational plan based on the upbringing of the individual to promote equality and eradicate prejudice. Instead, I put many lives in danger, and lost more. My hand was not the hand that took the lives of innocent people, but it was the one that paved the path for darkness to spread. I gave criminals the tools they needed to conquer and destroy our world with their foolish prejudices because I was foolish in thinking the solution was as simple as educating everyone.

I am to blame for Accona. I accept my blame and my guilt and I write today to ask for forgiveness. My actions hurt many and cannot be undone but do not believe that I have not already been punished both by myself and circumstance. I lost your trust. I lost my job. I lost my best friend and the man I had loved was taken from me. I returned to Norway with my tail between my legs, a failure. I had never failed at anything before Accona and my term as Senior Undersecretary. I returned to Norway broken and scarred by the horrors I witnessed and was forced to participate in. I am to blame, but know that I was also a victim and prison of Accona as well. The Cremation wanted the world to believe I was at fault and working for them. I did not get to leave my solitary cell unless it was to do their bidding and no one outside of Cremation members save for three people knew I was imprisoned there.

I do not seek your sympathy or pity. I do not wish to negate the horrors you experienced because of my actions and I do not believe that my suffering makes up for what others have gone through. I only wish for the world to know that I have been punished and I accept my punishment.

I write to you today from a hospital bed at St. Mungo's after being punished for my actions. For those with concerns, I am well, my injuries were extensive but they are healing, and they were justified by the people I hurt, the people who are angry and grieving. For them, and for everyone else, I only wish to say that I am sorry.

A wizard in Italy has reached out to the Ministry of Magic with reports of his grandson being missing. Mackenzie Dunamis is a twenty-three-year-old graduate of Beauxbatons whom is "quite slow" according to his grandfather. The man reports that Mackenzie had been working for him in his research lab, taking care of cleaning the instruments and meal prep or other simple tasks the man was capable of, when one night he vanished. NAME HERE is asking for any help in locating his lost grandson and claims "Mackenzie is a simpleton, he will not survive on his own for long. Please help me bring him home."






The Collins are a well respected pureblood family, and their close family and friends have been twittering about the upcoming marriage between Craven Collins and notorious criminal turned lady, Arianna Silver - yes, we looked into her history for you, Craven. A lavish affair was expected. The Collins pulled out every trick of the trade to ensure the heir to their fortune had the best of the best including an all expenses paid trip to New Zealand to enjoy the beautiful countryside for their special day.

"The destination was splendid, breathtaking! One expects nothing less from a Collins." - One Guest, Bonnie Sue Shacklebolt, informed reporters.

Instead of beauty, love and the unity of marriage, the Collins-Silver wedding was met with blood, guts and gore. An army of Inferi descended upon the couple's happy day and began to terrorize the wedding guests. Some remained and fought off the brutes while many fled the scene to protect themselves.

"I believe the Collins's were unaware that their wedding was taking place on an ancient New Zealand burial ground. How else does one explain all the dead zombies? It's not like they can be easily transported from around the world." - Another Guest, Marc Weatherby, commented.

A number of deaths occurred, including that of Craven's best man, Derrick Jones, but even more suspicious is that the bride and groom appear to be missing. The last person to see the bride alive was a Guard who had been sent off to rescue Craven at the direction of an unknown man. Both Craven and Arianna have not been scene since their wedding day.


The third floor corridor is one again closed off to staff and students pending an investigation after two students discovered the remains of a mummified body behind a hidden room. While exploring the ancient school, Gryffindor student Tia Monroe and Hufflepuff student Zephyrus Taylor found the mummified corpse which they report seemingly came to life. What happened next, the students could not tell this reporter as they ran from the room to escape any danger.

Investigations continue but so far, no body has been found. This is very mysterious.


Although the Accona Desert and the threat of the Cremation are over, the world is not at peace yet. Discrimination continues to be a pride flaw in many. A prime example; Wandmaker, Gwendolyn Ollivander, current owner and operator of Ollivander's Wands, has reported that someone has been anonymously sending her death threats in regards to selling wands to anyone without pureblood. Naturally, the granddaughter of old Ollivanders admits that she will not succumb to threats and discrimination has no place in her shop. These reports have been reported to the Ministry and Auror Talbot is on the case. hopefully having an Auror present near the end of summer will help protect the shop, it's owner and customers.











Welcome to this month's edition of Which Broomstick, for all your quidditch related news. The British and Irish Quidditch League gets underway in mid-August in anticipation for next year's European Championship.

While there have been many friendly matches over the past several weeks, the one that takes the cake happens to be between Italy and Spain. Everything seemed to be off to a good start and it looked like fans were in it for the long haul. As game play continued as per usual, no one on the field suspected what was to come next for the players. The dumping of Pufferskins onto the pitch threw the players off their game completely! The guilty parties disappeared immediately after the act was committed and no one is sure what exactly this symbol of protest stands for! Ultimately, the game had to be halted in order to clear the pitch of these fuzzy little critters. Twenty minutes later, game play commenced and Spain took the lead, winning with 340 points. Italy had 210 points.




The transfer deadline is coming near and things are starting to heat up between the Falmouth Falcons and Kenmore Kestrals as they both bid for Puddlemere's star Seeker; Irvin Granger. Granger has been back and forth playing the field to see which team will offer him the best contract. It seems Puddlemere is not meeting the needs of this superstar but will they throw in a counter offer to keep their star player or risk losing him to another team? We're waiting with bated breath to find out who Granger will agree to sign with.

In other news, Toyohashi Tengu is making waves this side of the world and wants to nab Appleby Arrows star Beater Frazier Croft. No news yet if this is true or not.





















Although teams are working diligently to prove they are deserving of competing in the Euro Championship, the regional team competitions are underway. Braga Broomfleet from France faced off against the Wimbourne Wasps and while it seemed like Braga had this game in the bag, the Wasps pulled up from behind and grabbed the snitch!

The first task of the International Wizarding Tournament was a dangerous game board in which the champions had to face off against each other as well as challenges placed around the board at random. It was a thrilling event which showcased how quickly the champions could think on their feet and get themselves out of sketchy and dangerous situations.

The challenges faced by the champions included things such as escaping Devil’s Snare, showing off their knowledge by matching spells and their definitions, losing their precious items and having to retrieve them by creative means and being lures away by selkies. A lot of thought and variety was put into this event and the champions seemed both eager and up for the competition. They struggled and fought hard right to the end.

“I am being very happy! I came out first which is not being bad despite the score putting me lower down at the third spot. It was nothing at all to be getting through, I am hoping very much that the next task is much more challenging. I am of Durmstrang and of very proud blood, I am not being scared of anything!

Best? Bah, I am supposing I could have been doing more to get the points. There was a very eh, how do you say it, rocky start? Ja, rocky start but I am still believing I did very well. The second task could be being anything still. that is being part of the thrill, ja? The not knowing what the challenge will be.” - Wolfgang Kessinger

With the first task out of the way and the champions required to have dates for the Yule Ball, I picked their brains a little to see if anyone had a date lined up. I’m sorry to say, my results were disappointing to say the least...

Both the female champions have also claimed they do not have dates lined up yet and are still working on that while Jack Adelinde did not provide a response and the remaining champions don’t seem to check their Owls regularly.

The death toll involved in these mysterious attacks around London continue to rise and lead auror on the case; Carman Jones, seems to be having difficulty bringing in the perpetrator. Sources inside the Ministry have claimed they are concerned with the reliability of Jones and her direct team. Reports of evidence going missing and victims attacked while giving testament gives one reason to believe these attacks could be an inside job.

Initially, fingers would point to one Cooper McPhee, grandson of the late Camden McPhee and leader of the Cremation, except that it is public knowledge the Cremation targeted muggleborns and creatures. With a rise in pureblood attacks, it is not likely a blood related hate crime which means anyone is at risk, and its likely not the work of former Cremation members.

Has a new group of haters rise to power? If so, what are their goals?

Thus far, whoever is behind these crimes has a very pointed interest in Maya Laureano and Deri Ellis of the Twisted D’s. One can’t quite determine why a healer in the urgent care unit and a famous musician could be so important as to target multiple times but there are at least three known cases involving Laureano and Ellis where Laureano is the victim and Ellis has gotten off with minimal injuries.

Law Enforcement has not made any arrests in relation to these serious crimes. It is likely they are waiting for confirmed, positive evidence before making their move on Ellis. The real question is, will Laureano live to see her assailant taking into custody or will the department move too slowly and be unable to save her?



It’s a hard task for one to be fired from Hogwarts; a school which employs anyone from criminal werewolves as caretakers to mentally unstable squibs teaching magical law. We’re not saying Aurinko is not qualified to teach the subject. The man has degrees in law from a muggle college to prove his eligibility. The problem lies in that Aurinko is a risky choice to bring in.

Why?

Not only was Aurinko a victim of the Accona Desert Prison experimentations, he is known for his association with the unsavory sort in Knockturn Alley – a place which is overpopulated with dark witches, wizards, crime and dangerous artefacts. Aurinko suffers from poor mental health, as evident by his frequent visits to St. Mungo’s and history with trauma counsellor; Kevin Barker. Aurinko is also a deaf, mute squib who would not be able to defend the children of Hogwarts should an attack occur – not saying one will. All of these factors point to this being a man who should not be responsible for the education of our next generation.

It is also important to note this man has been seen consorting with one Nathaniel Kingsley; a key player in the Cremation’s experimentations under the guise of an education program. Kingsley may have written a beautiful letter of apology but does the world believe and forgive him? Especially knowing his association with the mentally unstable Paris Aurinko?

The Daily Prophet applauds the Hogwarts administration for removing Aurinko from the teaching staff. It’s abouttime that school cleaned up the riff raff that has been allowed to hold prestigious places of authority. Would you believe it or not the Chuddly Cannons have been on a roll yet. It looks like some liquid luck has come into the team and they can not seem to be beat as of yet. Though they are not top of the league they are doing better than in other years. It seems that the new player Jonathan Owens the new chaser has been the answer to what the team has been looking for. Will this luck hold up or will it fail as soon as it starts?



It is looking good so far for the Qualifiers, Ireland and France are now in for next year's Euros the next few games will now be decided if Germany Sweden, Poland and Hungry will make it. Montenegro just missed out as did Slovakia. It is a pity that had a good run but they were beaten on the day. Let's see of over the next month will make it to the next round.



Canada Haileybury Hammers took on USA Fitchburg Finches in only to be described as a storm of the match. Not only did the weather have a great effect but the players were something else. I mean the news that was coming in was something. It was hard not to get involved with the match itself but Canada Haileybury Hammers got the win in the end.

Apparently, a marriage certificate has been found in American claiming that Deri Ellis is, in fact, married. Whether or not this certificate is authentic is the real question. Is Ellis married? What does that say about his blossoming romance with Maya Laureano – a woman he is believed to have assaulted on numerous occasions?

Is Ellis both a criminal and a cheater?

Is Laureano a homewrecker?

Or is someone else lying?

It’s hard to say but with more rumours of a child possibly existing, things certainly are fishy...we’ll have to wait for results of that rumoured paternity test to find out more.

Is the International Wizarding Tournament too much for some of the champions?

Between Jack Adelinde’s explosive behaviour in classes and Sutton Bane’s unkept appearances in the school hallways, it’s possible the pressure of the tournament is weighing heavier on the champions than we know.

And where have the Mahoutokoro, Uagando, Beauxbatons and Koldovstoretz champions been hiding? Are they too stressed out to even make an appearance?

December is the holiday season and the holidays have a tendency to get a little crazy. The Daily Prophet has put together a nice little tip sheet to help people stay safe this holiday season! Not to mention, there has been an increasing number of crimes escalating without our magical community and we want everyone to make it to the new year with us!

Snow is coming so a few tips to remember – make sure you keep your walkways and driveways clear of ice and snow, no one wants to be the reason Grandma slips and breaks a hip on Christmas Eve!

If you are decorating for the holidays, remember out herbologist friends have a whole slew of holiday plants that are unsafe for pets so double check those poinsettia's before bringing them into your home if you have a crupe or kneazle! They are related to dogs, after all.

But also, be sure you don’t go overloading those electrical outlets if your home runs on muggle electricity! Brilliant thing but disastrous during the holiday season with all those lights!

Everyone loves to cozy up by a warm fire with hot chocolate and a good book (or a cute friend!) but remember fire safety! Ensure your fireplace is clean before use and that there’s nothing at risk nearby in case the wrong kind of sparks fly.

If you are out and about attending or hosting holiday parties, remember, don’t drink and fly your broom or apparate drunk or even use the floo network because you never know where your drunk slurs might take you.

Cooking that lovely turkey dinner, yeah, you all know, don’t leave it all unattended or you might burn the house down.

Gift giving – make sure it’s safe folks. Don’t put poison in your chocolates for your boss. That ain’t cool. Don’t give small pieces to your friend’s kid. They might choke and you’ll ruin your friendship. And don’t leave the babies unattended around the gift wrap!

Stay Safe! Keep your wands on you at all times! And dress for the weather!




The now daily attacks in London increase the death toll despite all attempts from the Ministry to bring the perpetrators to justice. Is this beyond the capabilities of Carman Jones to handle? The decorated Auror has yet to produce a solid lead, leaving London and all of England in a new state of fear. Muggles, Muggleborn, Half-bloods, and Purebloods are counted among the victims, leaving no motive along with no potential suspect. Additional reports of evidence going missing increases the belief that these attacks could be an inside job. Perhaps the new Minister should look at appointing a lead Auror that has more experience and is better suited to handle this type of case.

While it is believed that the ringleader has a pointed interest in Maya Laureano, the Mediwitch has not been seen since she was spirited off to the Twisted D’s estate after the attack at the Ministry. Ellis has been seen out and about on numerous occasions leaving one to wonder if Laureano survived the attack. Would Ellis keep that information from her family and the Ministry? Did Ellis have anything to do with her demise? It was well known that Ellis had an interest in Laureano, but what if Laureano didn’t feel the same… Could the drummer also be a murderer? There is still suspicion that he in involved with the attacks throughout London, perhaps Laureano is just another victim that has yet to be found. Perhaps Jones should end her friendship with the D’s and do her job and investigate the disappearance of Laureano and the band’s involvement in the current situation.



The community has spoken and elected Shae Haywood and Nicola Skadegamutc for their new leaders. Both are fierce competitors and had a hard race to the finish line but came out on top! Congratulations to both of you! Now, we had a chance to sit down and talk to the candidate to find out a little more about how they are doing and feeling. See their interviews below:

Nicola Skadegamutc - Senior Undersecretary
DP: How do you feel about winning the election?
NS:Excited to have been elected and eager to try and bring some beneficial changes to the Ministry and our supporters.

DP: What do you have to say to your competition now that you have won?
NS: It was a good race, and I am open to any and all ideas he may have to help move the Ministry forward.

DP: What are you first plans for the Ministry and Wizarding World now that you are in office?
NS: The first order of business is to get a baseline of where all the departments are and then work with the heads of those departments to institute changes that will benefit the community that the Ministry serves.

DP: What areas do you feel need the most work within the Ministry?
NS: There are obviously some holes! There are certainly areas that need improvement. As with any organization that grows and changes leadership, there will be some growing pains. However, my job as the Senior Undersecretary is to support the Minister as well as the growth and wellbeing of the Ministry and its members. That is what I intend to do.

DP: Do you know what is really going on in the Department of Mysteries? Sources say Kingsley has been sneaking out of there with briefcases of ... well, who knows!
NS: It is called the Department of Mysteries for a reason. As Senior Undersecretary I do have more knowledge of what is being done in the different departments than others. However, again, my job is to support those departments and to help them weather the changes that are coming with the change in Minister. I would question your sources actual knowledge of what is going on in the Department of Mysteries as that department and their undertakings are not openly available to the general public for a reason. If your source has legitimate reason to believe something is amiss within the department (or any department), I urge them to come to me or the Minister directly so we may investigate properly. I do not give much credibility to those who report to the newspaper for shock effect before reporting to those who may actually be able to do something if there are unacceptable activities occurring.

DP: And what do you plan to do about all these upcoming attacks that seem to be going no where? People are terrified to go out of their homes without protection!
NS: Our Aurors are focused on the attacks and are committed to doing everything that needs to be done to discover who is behind them and put them in Azkaban where they belong. I am looking to make some staffing changes within the Auror department to acknowledge the dedication of some and to send a message to others who are not working up to their potential. For one, Ms. Jones needs to be commended for the effort she has been putting into this case since it first landed in her lap. I will be working with her to ensure she has all the resources she needs.

SH: I feel good and I feel excited that now our world will get the leader it should have, not people who are weak and let things happen

SH: My first job is to reform the ministry, things have gotten too lacking around here. My first job in the wizarding world is to ensure everyone that I will do everything in my power to stop what is going on.

SH: Yes, there are holes many of them and in each department. I will be starting with the Aurors. Everyone will be put on notice that they need to start working hard and getting out there to see what is going on.

SH: Then I will bring in Mr Kingley myself and have a chat with him. As for the Department of Mystery well who knows what really goes on down there?

SH: We can not rule anything out. Yes these attacks are terrifying and I will be getting to the bottom of these and I will deal with this in any means necessary

With the number of injuries occurring, first Aryana Chadwick and now Izanna Kingsley (see more below) it's a wonder what is going on in Quidditch. Could the sport be becoming too dangerous? Or are Mediwitches not enough to help these athletes with their ever growing needs? Perhaps it's time to replace the famed sport with something safest? Or increase the qualifications of those tending to these injured players to a higher regard? It would be a shame for kids coming out of school who dream of flying their brooms in a national stadium to lose that chance because of how dangerous the sport is becoming. Or perhaps it is time for those at the Ministry to take a look at the rules of Quidditch and alter them for better safety for the players to keep this beloved game alive.



With players seemingly focused on League games, and the number of injuries increasing, the Euro Qualifiers have been relatively mute lately. No updates to report as there have not been any recent matches.



All around the world Quidditch teams have been creating news. Much like the Euros, Canada and the USA have been having some friendly games to keep the spirit of Quidditch but otherwise it seems the teams worldwide are all focused on their league games much more than anything else.

Twisted D’s Paternity Scandal
Deri Ellis, drummer for the Twisted D’s, took a paternity test and it was determined he was not the father of the boy that he was accused of fathering. Nor is he currently married, so there is still hope for some of your women out there.

However, Diesel Rider, the muggleborn lead singer of the Twisted D’s has also had a paternity suit, and that has determined that a current fifth year Student at Hogwarts is his son. That must come as shock not only to him, but also to family of that Student, a one Grigor Cadwaladr. Grandson to Mr. Pedr Cadwaladr, a previously known Death Eater, a vocal follower of the Purist movement and currently retired Unspeakable.

We wonder how it will affect the budding romance between the young Cadwaladr and one Bellamy Saffron. The two have been seen together both around the Castle and in Hogsmeade. Ms. Saffron is the daughter of Mr. & Mrs. Octavius Saffron from London. Will they allow for her continued association with the young Mr. Cadwaladr or will they choose to protect their bloodline?
