a brief history of your character (200 words)
Family History:
The muggle magical mixed McCree family origins in Wales. During the great migration, they too left to live in the new country of America. All in the hopes of getting a better life. It never really came to that. The family remained poor over the years and mostly consisted of farmers and outlaws. They mostly resided in Texas and were keen on their little traditional life and farm animals. Some family members chose to move to the big city after finishing either muggle or magical school but the majority remained in Texas. Over the years, magic disappeared from the family and they mostly remained muggles.
Through the years the technology came and they modernised a little. But living in a small village made them more conservative. Most children were not exposed to other cultures until they started studying in cities or Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. So one could say that school indeed taught more than just book knowledge.
Personal History:
His muggle mother fell pregnant after a one night stand with a man with the last name Zabinski. She was a naive and simple minded woman who fell in love in one night. Certain he’d return for her, she kept the child. But he never did. Close to the delivery date she got into a car accident in which she died but the baby was saved from her belly.
Maxwell was adopted by his aunt and uncle but never considered them anything but his real parents. He became the eldest child of Emily and Diego McCree. He grew up in a small village in a barn with both muggle known animals and magical animals. He spent most of his childhood outside either playing and discovering the land or helping his dad with the animals. He would occasionally try to ride the animals. Not only horses but pigs as well. Until of course he grew too big. His childhood was pretty relaxed, even when siblings came. He loved his family and helping where he could. At school he was a bit of a troublemaker but knew the limits. Ever since he was little he loved Western movies. It was no surprise that he was given his grandpa's old hat instead of his dad. Usually the old leather hat was passed down from father to son but this time it skipped a generation.
Once he was old enough to go to Ilvermorny School of Witchcraft and Wizardry, a world opened before him. Sure he was lucky enough to experience both the muggle and wizarding world. But at the school he came to know so many different cultures. He was sorted in the house of the Horned Serpent. Which was not something he expected as he had always been someone who learned by experience rather than reading about it. However he was very strong minded so that might have been the final call.
At school he was just an average student. Excelling in charms, defence and duelling but being dreadful in History and other study classes. He was pretty good with herbology and care of magical creatures thanks to the experience at the farm as well. His teenage life was full of excitement; he was exploring the world, others and himself. There were fights, there were laughs and there was fun. Sure they were poor and he was seen as a bit of an odd one but he enjoyed life enough. He even became boyfriends with his best friend from school. And his parents, while confused at first, did accept him. He played as a beater for his wampus house and really enjoyed the teamplay. Fun changed during the winter break of his last year.
It was cold and the siblings gathered together around the fireplace. Father had gone outside to feed the animals while mother prepared dinner. It was already pitch black outside. There were no streetlights where they lived. By the time that dinner was done, father had not come back yet. Mother sighed and got the children to eat. It was father's own fault if he had cold dinner. But after half an hour he still had not arrived. At this point Mother was getting anxious and went looking for him while Max was told to watch his siblings. Mother did not return either...
The McCree siblings were scared. Maxwell wanted to go looking for his parents but remembered the promise he made with his mother. He would watch over his siblings. So instead he called in authorities while he tried to keep his siblings calm. It was almost morning by the time authorities finally came. Their parents’ bodies were found near the stalls, both drained of blood, their necks snapped and pierced. They were vampires… And Maxwell could suddenly feel the presence from behind him. The vampire bit down his shoulder and drank from his blood but was chased away by aurors before he could kill Max.
The once happy McCree family was at loss. With their parents gone and no grandparents or other family close, what would become of them? Their closest neighbours lived 25 minutes by car apart. Would they fall apart? Max was the only one who was 17 years old, his brother and sisters were all younger.
The first thing they did was sell the farm and all its animals. This was a very painful moment as the farm had been within their family for generations. But they were all still studying and couldn’t keep up. Even if Max dropped out he wouldn’t make it on his own. They all returned to school (thankfully they had each other at the magic school and a half year to decide what to do). Max couldn’t concentrate on his school work anymore, he was drowning in responsibility and worries for his family. He wanted them to stay together at all costs. His change in behaviour had him break up with his boyfriend but the break also caused their friendship to fall apart. Maxwell’s change simply frightened the other boy. He only barely graduated. Actually he wouldn’t have passed at all if the teachers hadn’t taken pity on him and let him redo one of his exams.
He was now graduated and an adult according to the magical world. He wanted to work and earn money so his siblings didn’t have to go to the orphanage. They lived in a small house, it was more of an apartment. The boys shared a room and the girls shared a room. All siblings were still very shaken from their loss but knew they had to continue living. Max started working in a local shop but he didn’t earn enough to keep them all fed and supply them with other needs. That was when he started picking up small jobs. He’d go to pubs and hidden alleys where he met people who would pay him for his service. Almost none of these jobs were legal. They went from getting a package from one person to another, to trading in illegal (magical) items, to being someone’s bodyguard. to gambling and scamming. Combined with the job in his shop their life started to look a lot better. Max didn’t tell his siblings where the extra money was coming from, they didn’t need to know that their big hero brother was doing criminal things. They deserved to have some hope left in this world.
Maxwell started his occlumens training in order to shield himself from being found out of what he actually was doing.
Max was starting to form a big image of himself within the underworld and this didn’t go unnoticed. He got called to one of the bigger cities nearby to meet with a certain Mr. Williams. What Max did not know was that this man was the leader of the local mob. The man offered Maxwell a way how he could easily pick up jobs that paid much more. In trade of his loyalty and his share. Young, ignorant and shining with this chance of being able to support his family better Max agreed. The jobs however turned a lot darker. Max now had other people to join on the little jobs. They were blackmailed, tortured and even killed. But the money was coming like mad and so did the men and women. Even if Max knew deep down that what he was doing was bad, he couldn’t help but give into this lifestyle. This was what he was good at and he secretly enjoyed every minute of it. He could buy everything his siblings needed and more. Presents for their birthdays and Christmas, good food, new clothes.
It seemed that Mr. Williams had ties with the corrupt local government as well (both the muggle government and the magical). In a country as big as the states, they didn’t notice everything. Max did things for the government to make things easier for them. To help the party get the votes they needed. All while maintaining his outlaw status.
In the meantime his brother and eldest sister started figuring things out. Mostly because the rumours of the ‘classic outlaw cowboy’ had reached their village at this point. Max denied the accusations, lying to the people he loved most.
In the meantime his relationship with Mr. Williams grew. The man became like a father to him, he got guidance from the man that he desperately needed. Even if the man was using him and manipulating him. Max was a good loyal dog, the young man would do anything if it meant giving his loved ones a good peaceful life. That was when Mr. Williams decided…
Max was sent on a nearly impossible mission. Where he was sent to return a stolen ring to a lady. Maxwell, wanting to be the noble cowboy he saw in his dreams helping the ones in need, accepted. He returned severely wounded. His wand was broken but he had kept his promise and got the ring. He came to the place where he was told to meet the lady and handed her the ring. “Sweet heavens what happened to you?” The woman gasped and insisted she healed his injuries. “It’s just a scratch. I’ll heal, what matters is that I kept my promise. Here ya go, ma’am,” he said while he handed the diamond ring.
That was when Mr. Williams showed up. Telling him he was certain, Max was given the blessing to marry this woman, his daughter! The cowboy was greatly confused. Wait what was this all about? It seemed that he had been tested on his loyalty and courage. To go on even if things seemed impossible. Now he was marrying this woman he didn’t know. Good thing he was used to the concept of arranged marriages, besides she was pretty there was no denying that. Becoming actual family with Mr. Williams could only strengthen their bound. Mr. Williams let a special weapon be designed for Max. It used his old wand and it's core. The broken wand was held together by a magical gun. It worked almost the same as a normal wand. Only one could fire six spells non verbally and without waiving, just pointing and firing. Then it had to be recharged by pulling the hammer. If used smartly it could be faster than a wand but it also had its disadvantages.
However upon returning home his siblings were awaiting him. They seemed to have found out about everything. The three McCree siblings were furious at their brother for both hiding this and lying to them. He’d damaged their trust. Max tried to stop them from leaving but they hit his cheek and all went their separate ways. Max was 25 at this time. His siblings refused to have any more contact with him and didn’t show up at his marriage. Despite the hurt and guilt, he tried to focus on his new family. What he didn’t know was that this all was part of Mr. William’s plan. To fully have control over Max who was his most useful henchman.
Alexis and Maxwell married. Peaceful times were ahead. While Max and Mr. Williams were still running the underworld, he was happy with ‘the normal’ life he could live with Alex when he returned home. A beautiful baby boy was born which fully turned Max over. Luke was his life, he found so much happiness in simply being around this kid. He was done, he wanted no more of this criminal life. All he wanted was to live a simple and normal life, the money didn’t satisfy his needs anymore but seeing this little boy laugh did. Mr. Williams would have none of this and used his daughter to manipulate Max into staying loyal to the jobs he took.
Both Alexis and Maxwell grew unhappy. While Max found his peace by spending time with their son Luke, Alex turned to the alcohol. It took Maxwell a while to notice this. By the time he found out she was already deep into addiction. Luke was 3 years old. One day Maxwell returned home and found the little boy crying and his wife passed out on the couch. What the hell was going on? It didn’t take him long to find out. Alexis had been drinking, she’d completely forgotten to feed Luke or take care of him. Max was furious. After feeding Luke, showering him and taking him to bed Max would have a deep talk about this. Apparently this was not the first time something like this happened. The cowboy was beyond shock and anger. He yelled at her, ensuring her that he would have arranged their divorce this week. There was a big fight, Max kept it verbally but was very eager to hit her back after she had started throwing stuff at him. Yelling she never wanted to marry him in the first place. It was all about what her father wanted, she never had anything to say. Alexis was beyond saving, she had been crazy from the start but never noticed until now. At least that was the plan. That was it, he’d leave this messed up family behind he’d take Luke with him and flee.
The next day he had hired a nanny to watch over Luke, not trusting his wife with their son anymore. However when the nanny had left, Alexis approached him. What did she want? Suddenly she seemed very calm and sweet. They had a good talk and drank a glass of whiskey together. Max, who always wanted to believe in the good in people, was swayed. He grinned, feeling a bit dizzy. “I’ll bring Luke to bed, maybe we can make up real good when I return,” he said with a wink. Of course Alexis would still need help, he would call a clinic tomorrow. Things were going to be fine, at least that was what he thought. His head started to spin as he climbed the stairs. By the time he reached the end he lost all control of his muscles and fell. “What the-” His eyes rolled back he was out, his mind blanked out.
The next day he was awoken by the police who had broken into his house. He was taking in for questioning but he still could barely respond. By the time he was clear an auror slowly started to explain the one another, wanting questions answered. Maxwell had no idea what was going on. Then he heard Alex had taken Luke and driven off.. There was an accident, Luke died and Alexis was brought to the hospital in critical condition. Max’s world shattered. But things had made sense. She’d put a potion in his whiskey, or sleeping pills or whatever. The chance had been big that she tried to kill him. Alex had planned to take Luke and drive away. A plan similar to Maxwell’s however she failed. One should never drive after drinking and well Alexis was almost always drunk.
Max couldn’t cope, he refused to visit Alexis in the hospital. Not even when she died a week later. Mr. Williams found Maxwell instead. The man blamed Max for the death of his daughter and grandson. Then Mr. Williams disappeared with the final message that Max would be taken care of, it was only a matter of time. And that time came sooner than expected. Mr. Williams had used his contacts with the local government to take Maxwell to prison. They set up a crime and put it on Maxwell. It went all so quick. Because Maxwell was upset by all that had happened, he reacted hostile which they used against him. The once famous outlaw was put behind bars. Ironically for a crime he did not commit after committing a lot of crimes.
He spend some months in prison where he had a rough time. Most often he fought his way out of things but was punished by warders. Until one day he was released... Once again Max was confused. But it seemed the abuse of power had been noticed and Maxwell suddenly was found innocent. At least for this case.
He took this chance of freedom to flee to the UK before Mr. Williams, who was a cruel and vengeful man looking for him, could find him. There he decided to start anew. To keep true to his motto of protecting the innocent and saving an innocent life whenever he could. However this time he'd do it legally. So he started his auror training at the age of 28. Maxwell finished his training rather quickly, his work experience certainly did help. Even if he said he was just a simple farmer boy with a lot of talent. His past still haunts him even if he tries to forget about it by goofing around. Aside from his job on the legal side he also serves justice to the cases the ministry cannot hit. In secret he works as a hitman but only takes up jobs he feels are in the right. With experience in the criminal world, he infiltrated. Everything he did was to punish the corrupt and protect the innocent. The polyjuice potion is almost as much used as alcohol. He has a weakness for children and can’t stand to see them suffer. Maxwell is a bit harder than most aurors. If he is given the choice to kill or capture, he would kill the target if they’d done something despicable.
Now things have changed once again. Maxwell started to notice that the Ministry might not be as good as they pretended to be. When he got asked to join the starlings, he immediately jumped on the chance. Would he really get to be a hero this time?

Dio looked up from the stone carving towards the Slytherin when she spoke to him. “It had to be sharpened anyways, might as well give it its last run,” he said before raising an eyebrow and letting out a small chuckle. “It’s a badger though I suppose it kinda looks more like a bear. ” For Yuhiro, though Dio doubted his missing roommate would care about this. It was just to let him have somewhat of a presence in the school. Perhaps it was Dio’s way to make up for how little he actually felt for the other Hufflepuff’s disappearance. They shared rooms for three and a half years so Dio expected to at least feel something. "I swear my tattooing skills are better than this."
Dio scraped some of the rock debris off his blade as he listened. “A literal one or a philosophical one?” He asked in return, not wanting to go asking for details. What about him? “I’m actually still plotting a scheme. No solid plan yet,” he shrugged. Yep he was pretty much lost and bored in Hogwarts. But with the amount of detention he had gotten and the amount of people who suspected him of being involved with the kidnappings, he couldn’t go about his usual ways,.
