It is said that the Maverick family are descendents of pirates and that the original John Maverick sailed his ship around the world plundering and pillaging. However, it is also said that he traveled from America to Scotland with his young bride hiding in the bow of his ship. He fell in love and married her aboard the original S.S. Maverick before is was shipwrecked. John Maverick, the first, and his wife survived miraculous and settled into life in Portree, on the Isle of Skye. After many years, John had wealth and used it to raise the remains of his beloved ship from the sea where he transformed it into the family home. It continues to sit, docked on the coast of the island with the only access being across the gangplank.

John Maverick who exists today was a Squib who made his name by joining the Muggle Navy which is how he met Abigail (a pureblood witch from America). He was sailing from Scotland to America aboard the he captained. He fell in love and brought Abigail to Portree where they were married in the same church as his ancestors.

Joey ws born in October of 2000 and is the youngest of John and Abigail's two children. Because of his career, they traveled a lot and spent time in Korea, Australia, Brazil, a number of countries. The kids were homeschooled by an elderly Professor named Edwain and raised by the loving Nanny June.

Unfortunately, just before Joey would begin his schooling at Hogwarts, his father was lost at sea. They assumed he was dead, and in her devastation, Abigail was said to die of a broken heart many months later. Joey, who always as a bit of a shy boy, become more introverted. His connections remained with his sister, their Professor and Nanny June. Throughout his years at Hogwarts, he focused on school and developing a reputation to be dependable, hardworking, ambitious and all those things that Slytherin house prided while still being true to his kind nature. He did form friendships with his housemates who he can be his real self around and not feel judged or noticed because the commotion when they are all together often hides Joey in the background and he's quite content with that.

Despite everything that Joey is, he has a rather big secret. His sister has a mild delusional belief that she is a pirate due to the family's history and while their parents tried getting her some treatment for her delusional beliefs, after their deaths it was easier to indulge them. Nanny June hired a fencing coach to teach Janie how to use a sword and Joey was forced into lessons as well though forced wasn't the correct word for how he got wrangled into being an excellent swordsman. It was the instructor. Janie's fencing instructor was gorgeous with a pair of dark eyes that sucked Joey's soul right in. He'd never seen a more handsome man. He was barely fifteen at the time, and even though they both knew it was wrong, an unexpected kiss that lead to an affair that should never have happened, and ended when it was time to go back to Hogwarts.

"Mhm..." he made a noise against Sungwon's lips as they shared a greeting kiss. When Joey drew away, he grinned. "Not long, but you know how I enjoy watching you focus and when your brow wrinkles up in frustration before you go on a rant about something stupid someone did." He kissed him lightly once again before standing straight up and putting some distance between them, especially since Sungwon was already skirting back towards the computer. "Five minutes, type fast," Joey warned him while he dropped his gaze to the suitcase questionably.

"Is this it?" It didn't look big enough for everything Sungwon would need to go camping. Where was his sleeping bag and pillow? They certainly wouldn't fit in the suitcase with his clothes and toiletries. "Is it one of those magical bags that have secret compartments and can fit more than it appears?" Joey picked up the suitcase to judge the weight and immediately knew there was something wrong. Joey had assured Sungwon that he would take care of all the necessities for the camping trip (tent, groceries, fire starter, etc) all his boyfriend had to do was pack for himself. Joey had a feeling he had not succeeded.

"I'm just going to double check that you have everything," Joey carried the suitcase to Sungwon's room while his boyfriend was already focused on finishing up his work before they left. Sometimes his addiction to work was a blessing, moments like these when he was oblivious to the fact that Joey was internally shaking his head at just how much of a spoiled rich kid Sungwon was when it came to every day life.

He set the suitcase down on the bed and opened it with a great sigh as to the contents inside. "You've never actually gone camping before, have you babe?" He called out as he wandered back to the office and poked his head into the doorway. "You get an extra five, so ten minutes," Joey informed him. That should be enough time for him to repack Sungwon's suitcase with clothing more suited to the wilderness. He loved him in suits, especially when the tie loosened and some of the buttons came undone but camping was not a shirt and tie affair.
