PERSONALITY: While not a doormat, per-say, Eris is not assertive. She is not the type to jump to conclusions or stake claim to anything. Rather, she likes to observe and analyze and be a helpful presence. She is a hard worker and a diligent study. She's had to work hard to even be sometimes recognized as a member of the Prince Family, so it has carried over into her studies. She believes that anything worth doing is worth doing well. She loves exploring and discovering new places almost as much as she loves curling up with a well-loved book. She loves the friends she makes and loves to make sure they know they are appreciated. Eris sometimes gets lost in her thoughts about the big picture of her life and the lives of others. In spite of her soft edges, she is a reliable friend, pleasant company, and a great listener. Unfortunately, she struggles with expressing her own needs and feelings, preferring instead to focus on others. When faced with conflict, she tends to avoid it rather than confront it head-on. Eris just wants harmony and peace. She’s also not one to openly criticize or judge others. ASPIRATION: Eris wants to find resolution to the rift between her and her split identity, Lenore. She sees Lenore as potentially dangerous if she picks up any bad habits while in control. She would like to make peace with the elders of her family, but knows it probably won't happen. She tries to be pleasant with her cousins in hopes that they'll look kindly on her in the future. She doesn't seek to hold any of the Prince Family fortunes, instead hoping to just find a career that she'll enjoy that doesn't involve any crime. | LIKES: - Divination Class - Space/Stars/Planets - Hiking/camping/campfires/bonfires - Small Villages/towns - Used bookstores - Thrift shopping - Writing - Growing herbs and vegetables - Spicy food - Wildflowers DISLIKES: - Politics - Blood-purity obsessives - Large spaces full of people - Cold weather - Hot weather - Bland food - Vampires and Werewolves |

CHILDHOOD. |
|
SCHOOL YEARS. | - Getting a Hogwarts letter was truly surreal. Eris had heard about the school from her sister and cousins, but always kinda disbelieved the scope of it until she got there herself. - At Hogwarts, she was amazed to find that she was treated with respect and as another student that could have friends and be a person with potential and something to strive for outside of her relationship with the family business. - Her first year, she excitedly threw herself into her studies and did well. Returning home that summer made for a depressing time, returning to the general disregard she faced at home. - Her second year was more of the same. An exciting academic experience at the school she was falling in love with followed by another hard summer. Eris made more friends at school, continued to be kind to her cousins, and did her best to keep working hard for some kind of recognition, but the following summer saw no change. Eris dared ask why and was met with a harsh explanation of her lack of place in the family, and her only bearing the name Prince because her birth mother died. This sent an awful shock through Eris' whole being. - During her third year, she began experiencing severe bouts of anxiety and depression. During these episodes, she would start to experience lapses in time, leaving a number of hours unaccounted for and small changes to her dorm area that she had no memory of. She didn't put too much thought into it because she didn't want to bring any attention to herself or think that she had an issue of some kind. - These lapses continued when she would get stressed, get too anxious, or be in places like Defense Against the Dark Arts class, where dangerous encounters were becoming a little more common. A professor noticed the changes and spoke to Eris, prompting the issue to make itself known in an unexpected way. Taking over during that anxious conversation with that professor, Lenore, the split-off identity that had spawned in Eris' psyche, made herself known by writing her notes and explanations of what she was doing during those blackouts. - Lenore expressed concern for Eris' well being, prompting a series of meetings with mental health professionals and scary visits to St. Mungo's for further examination. It was officially determined that Eris had developed a second, protector identity interested in sticking up for Eris where she could not, in the face of some traumatic event. Details were kept vague and Lenore would say that money changed hands, but Eris wasn't treated quite so dismissively after that, at least not by her father. - Fourth year and some of fifth year have passed since, with regular check-ups and Eris working hard to find harmony with the other side of her identity while trying to not let it affect how her cousins view her. She dreads the upcoming Christmas break... |

Special Situations
Second Identity: Lenore - The stress of going back and forth between a space where she is recognized as an equal among peers to a space where she is barely acknowledged by those in authority has caused a rift in Eris's psyche. At first, there were a few unexplainable blackouts, but then the other identity began to communicate, explaining the lapses in written notes to Eris. They still communicate with each other like this now, though often with a small notebook or phone.
Unlike Eris, Lenore is confident, defensive, critical, and blunt. Her wit is sharp and biting and her wisdom is concrete. Lenore sees the details and imperfections and threats in the world around her and does what she can to either protect Eris or put her at some advantage. So far, this has not yet led to anything less-than-legal, but Lenore has shown interest in studying rare and powerful forms of magic, whether or not they are attainable. Any potential advantage for Eris is worth at least knowing about, especially when contending with the elders of the Prince Family.
So far, there have not been any major disruptions aside from occasional blackouts, or Lenore frequently taking over during Defense Against the Dark Arts classes. Lenore also doesn't typically emerge unless Eris is under stress, fear, or something potentially physically dangerous.
Eris has since failed to hide the condition from the rest of the Prince family, including her father.
The following is an acknowledgement of the rules for such a character:
- Eris is assessed by Healers at St. Mungo’s prior to beginning each school term in order to determine her needs and if changes are in order for her medical care plan.
- Eris attends mandatory sessions with the school healers and counselors at minimum once a month to keep an eye on her progress.
- Eris works with the special needs professor outside of class in order to stay on top of her school work, especially if any important gaps ever occur.
RP SAMPLE (200 words min.)
Finally, the victor approached, her friend leaving, presumably, to avoid any awkwardness. Marcia silently prayed it wouldn't be awkward. She slowly rose to her feet as Bowman spoke. Her initial appraisal of revenge stung a bit, but was entirely fair and warranted. Marcia shook her head calmly.
"No, no-no... Nothing like that, I promise," Marcia soothed. "I'm well-enough, and I hope you are too after all that." Marcia reached back and grabbed the leather cord that bound the bundled fur behind her, pulling it forward with her metal hand. Every word she spoke was chosen carefully and delivered with an air of respect, "No, you've reminded me of valuable lessons I've strayed too far from, and -in my family- that warrants certain rites be observed. Please accept this token of my respect and thanks. You duel with wit and grace, a testament to your House."
Marcia offered a rare soft smile as she put forward the nigh-forty pound prepared fur. Her sincere eyes searched the Ravenclaw girl's face, hopeful that she'd accept it graciously. It was only now, seeing her much closer without wands between them, that Marcia began to appreciate her high cheekbones, fair skin, and pale blue eyes. Curious... we both have pale blue eyes...
"I'm Marcia, by the way," she added, silently cursing herself for turning the other girl's head into a pumpkin earlier. That was such a s****y thing to do, even in a confused stupor...
