REPUTATION: The Hwang are one of the traditional Pureblood families on top of the Korean food chain and don't take kindly to other families interrupting their business. The Hwangs are well known to be supporters of the Dark Arts and are always on the side of the purebloods in case of war. The traditional Koreans have settled all over Korea by now, also working in Korea or neighbouring countries for opportunities. They've been reaching into Japan and China for quite some years now but are yet to openly find the interest to settle with other pureblood families.

ALLIANCES: No alliance means you're nothing to them. Unless they have an alliance, in the form of marriage or deals, they want nothing to do with you. In the case of supporting the same side (for a long time), there's lenience. Making deals with other families exist of exchanging children for marriage and deals for land, wealth and power. If another family wishes to form an alliance, there will be negotiations that take a while. They don't let things go by chance and if you back-stab them they will come for your family. (Please ask first about possible arranged marriages because they don't just agree on any family, nor do they just agree to being 'friendly' with any other family.)

FAMILY ALLEGIANCE: In order to remain a traditional Hwang you must follow the given orders and rules of the family, carry out whatever it is you're told or risk exile. Those who have disagreed with the views of the traditional Hwangs can run away but are to never set foot in Korea again, or will get punishment or death. Unless you come to offer and prove your allegiance, you're not welcome as a run-away Hwang.

Not all family members know the full in and outs of the family either, and function as a pureblood family. 

MAGIC SCHOOLS: For those Hwangs that don't live in Korea, because of their parents, they are sent to whichever school their parents see fit, as long as it isn't Mahoutokoro to avoid any ties. Traditional Hwangs mostly go to Mahoutokoro or Hogwarts but are not uncommon at other schools at all.

JOBS: Majority of the traditional Hwangs go into politics for the surface appeal and to keep a heavy hand twisted in the Korean Ministry. Few will hold on to the international level of Ministry power, functioning as those gateway spies so the majority is expected to be in Korea. Japan is an optional place for work as internatonial spies as well. There are however plenty who own businesses or work them. For the odd few, some enjoy their time as an influential participant in society, being a quidditch player or an actress, a model or something of that sorts.

For runaway/castaway ones, it's up to them but Korea is off-limits at all times.

INFORMATION FOR RUNAWAYS:
Do not assume your character just knows everything on how the traditional side works. It is not casually common knowledge. Being raised a pureblood does not mean you were raised the same as a traditional Hwang, unless you've actually been born in Korea at that time. At best they know the two sides don't mingle, why they wouldn't, that there is conflict and know of the limits put upon them (and besides what's actual open information). The only exception is: directly having been born in Korea already and having the proper mind of knowledge while their parents were still part of the traditional side before running away. It doesn't make sense that they somehow know things, which they can't know just by being a Hwang, and say they just do. It is illogical for them (or anyone not related to this family) to know intricate information when they haven't even been part of that side of the family.
