ELIAS WU
30 YEARS OLD JANUARY 1’ST, 1990 GUIDANCE COUNSELOR, HOGWARTS OXFORD UNIVERSITY DROP-OUT SQUIB LONDON | PERSONALITY: Ruthless, but on a more human-level. Elias is used to swiftly and elegantly jumping over every obstacle in life - without help or support from his friends and family. And he is also keen to manipulate himself out of any sticking difficulties. He is a resourceful man who tends to know how to make the best out of a given situation, and never stops before he has achieved his goal. He is nice to those few that have managed to get close to him, but prefers his own company at the end of the day. He always puts himself first, and would not hesitate throwing friends under a bus to turn the events in his favor. Vanity is his biggest weakness, and sprinkle it with a bit of narcissism, you will learn that both of these flaws are sadly his biggest. There is always an ulterior motive to every kind act, always an agenda to his plan, and he solemnly judges others on their looks and how well they treat their body. Kindness has never been his strong suit, because he comes from an ambitious environment where he was forced to always handle everything on his own. Nevertheless, as a student counselor he is direct, honest and very professional. ASPIRATION: Truthfully, Elias’ aspiration is to be fully accepted in the wizardry world as a contributing member equal to a wizard. It is still a looming untreated need for love that his parents refused to give him due to his status as a squib. When you see him at Hogwarts, you will notice that he is working very hard and despite not allowing students to get close to him, he makes sure to guide them the best way possible and find a career path that matches their strengths and aspirations. He fully believes that wizards can work in the muggle world and vice versa, and he wants to open the kids’ minds to the many possibilities that they might not have thought about aside from the traditional ones Hogwarts usually offers. | LIKES: - Good coffee, fruit and a croissant for breakfast - Freshly washed sheets, minimalistic interior design and historical books - White button-down shirts, elegant watches and leather shoes - Expensive good quality aftershave - White lillies DISLIKES: - Dirty fingernails, dirty bare feet and split ends (hair) - People saying “oh" and "uhm" in the beginning of a sentence - Acne outbreaks (himself), cakey make-up and lipstick stained teeth - Manhwa universes and their fantasy genres - Narrow-minded blood purists |
FAMILY MEMBERS. | Mother: Alice Wu - slytherin graduate, ministrty worker in international office of magical law, pureblood, born in 1964 Father: Alfred Wu - slytherin graduate, ministry worker in international magical trading standards, pureblood, born in 1964 Younger brother: Daniel Wu - gryffindor graduate, beater for falmouth falcons, pureblood, born in 1995 |
CHILDHOOD. | Alice and Alfred had never considered themselves being blood purists. Traditional, sure, but never actual purists. They were ambitious, hard working and stopped at nothing to achieve what they wanted. So of course, whether the universe liked it or not, they were granted a child… Fortunately, at the right time in their career and relationship. Everything was stable, the economy was good, and the timing was perfect. The only little problem about their first born son was he was not showing signs of magic! Alice and Alfred assumed that Elias was a late bloomer. Wizards could be that, after all, and just like any other pureblood families, they homeschooled him, preparing their precious first born for his admission to Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Elias did not remember being spoiled, but he actually was the first few years of his life - at least until he got a little brother. The two boys were like night and day. Elias, who had always been scrawny looking, watched as his younger sibling grew bigger and more muscular than he had been at that age. He was even stronger, faster and worst of it all; his magic showed early. As his age approached 11, Elias' powers were still not showing, and there was not a single hint of enlistment to Hogwarts - even when his parents snooped around for the list of future students at the school. In sheer panic, Alice and Alfred took him to several screenings at St. Mungos, just to have all healers conclude their worst and most inevitable fear; they had a squib in the family! |
SCHOOL YEARS. | Now, imagine the embarrassment of being forced to look into muggle school systems. Having a ministry worker from their own department to help them with enlisting Elias to one of the finest private schools in Great Britain. And after that experience which they mostly look back at as complete and utter failure, his parents sent him off, just like any other witch and wizard did, to school. But the boarding school Elias would attend was so far from everything they knew that the moment he was going there, they cut as much contact as possible to the institute. Elias was left to figure everything out on his own. His parents didn’t want to have anything to do with the muggle school aside from the most necessary parent-teacher conference, tuition fees and buying school supplies. Yet, they refused having their son getting swallowed by the muggle world completely, so Alice and Alfred made sure to keep him connected to the magical world at all times. He was forced to come home as much as possible, was rarely allowed to attend any parties or visit any muggle friends. All he should focus on, was his studies. That strict schedule throughout his school years made Elias quite isolated with his social interactions. He graduated with exceptionally good grades though and attended Oxford University on a scholarship granted only the best students from his school. His family had never lacked wealth or fortune, but even after proving himself by studying hard, desperate to have them be proud of him for once, Elias was left to figure everything out for himself - as usual. He became a very independent young man. Straight forward, ambitious and with loyalty to himself and only him. During his time at the university, where he studied history, Elias worked part-time as a student guidance counselor for undergrads - a job he was exceptionally good at doing despite his lack of social skills. And finally (for once) his parents picked up on that particular opportunity, pulling some strings at Mahoutokoro and getting him a job interview as a guidance counselor for witches and wizards there. After all, he spoke the language, his family had connections to the school and the rest of the Wu branch was not too far away. |
ADULTHOOD. | Alice and Alfred’s grasp on Elias showed to be paying off when he became a prospect for the position as a guidance counselor at Mahoutokoro. The previously mentioned independent young man was of course under the influence of his strict parents when it came to his connection to the magical world. And with the deep desire to finally make them proud - to finally contribute to the magical society - he accepted the opportunity and dropped out of Oxford University. A future was thrown away in favor of a possible one among witches and wizards. It started as a trial period, then an internship with the intention of him taking over the position when the guidance counselor was going on maternity leave… But she didn’t return, and Elias stayed there for 5 years. He turned out to be a good fit for exactly that job, because his cold attitude made him impartial to different students, and he treated everyone equally. No one aside from the staff knew about his blood status. Even though some curious few found out about his lack of magic, it didn’t turn into actual gossip and a downfall, considering he had made a good name for himself at Mahoutokoro. Yet, as his work life bloomed, his love life stood still. Women came and went in Elias’ life and his relationships never lasted for more than just 6 months. He didn’t consider himself a player, but tested different people out to see if he could find a match. Of course, being critical by nature, he thought that no one was ever good enough. His girlfriends either left him when finally seeing his rotten personality, or he left them due to minor flaws, a better option or simply because he got tired of them. Elias always strived to return to Great Britain at some point, so when a position opened up at Hogwarts, he quickly applied for it, hoping to get an interview. Due to his over 5 years of experience in that particular field in the wizardry world and 2 more in the muggle world, he was the best candidate among the applicants and was therefore asked to move to Hogwarts in the beginning of 2024. Elias bought an apartment in London (a small one that required minimal care) just to have a place to stay during the holidays. Otherwise he stayed at the school that had hired him - finally, for the first time in his life, “attending” Hogwarts as a squib… Just like he had dreamed of. And for once, his parents were actually proud of him. |

RP SAMPLE (200 words min.)
The best way to describe Otis Grimstone is by placing him next to a statue and ask a stranger to find 5 differences. It would be a task for the most intelligent minds of all, because the boy definitely looked like one. With the exact same expression as he usually held without even a smirk or a frown to ruin the symmetry of his otherwise handsome face, this particular pureblood made his way to Hogsmeade. His attire was fine, and never out of place. Even for a weekend like today, it was not hard to see his social standing.
Raven black hair neatly slick to one side, piercing blue eyes staring ahead of him, porcelain pale skin and a silver ring that resembled an acromantula with sapphire eyes shining in in the dim sun that usually illuminated the sky during March. Otis liked March. It was cold, wet, and windy. Very fitting to his own strange personality that was usually hidden behind a very calm attitude.
Stepping inside the Three Broomstick, the young man scanned the bar for a moment, before his gaze landed on someone unfamiliar who looked about his age. “Do you have anything new and good to drink?” He asked the boy as he walked up to him with an almost glare as an elegant hand placed on the counter of the bar. “And nothing with too much alcohol in it.” Tilting his head, he studied the boy for a moment, before a hint of a grimace that wrinkled his pointy nose flashed on his face. “How old are you anyway?”
